When spoken to regarding the improved performance Mr Cole advised he had changed the training regime for his runner by increasing its work load and that the mare had been able to capitalise on its inside barrier draw to secure a good run three back on the marker line.

NELSON'S BOY - Stewards investigated an incident entering the first turn when NELSON'S BOY broke losing considerable ground when racing to the outside of THROWYAARMSAROUNDME. It was established that both runners shifted ground in this incident and no further action was deemed necessary. Broke rounding the final turn losing its chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed some minor lacerations.

PACING HOPE - over-raced for a distance passing the 1700m when attempting to obtain cover. Unable to maintain its position when trailing SKIPPER passing the 1150m despite the efforts of junior driver A Harrison which resulted in MO SZYSLAK being able to shift down to take up the vacant position.
