ALDEBARAN PIPPI - Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1350m when this runner appeared to race wider on the track when improving to the outside of MARIA THERESA. It was established that MARIA THERESA had shifted out into the running line prior to ALDEBARAN PIPPI covering its sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary.

SHESGOLD - broke passing the 60m and continued in a gallop to the finishing line before locking sulky wheels with ALDEBARAN PIPPI. Stewards lodged a protest against 2nd placing being awarded to this runner under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the mare had broken in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. After viewing the replays Driver T Mitchell did not contest the protest and SHESGOLD was disqualified by Stewards.

After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Dr Chin's Driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 9 February 2024 (3 days).

Trotted roughly under pressure before breaking inside the final 30m finishing in 4th place and was lapped on by the 5th placed runner ALANA. Stewards lodged a protest under Rule 870(5) against the 4th placing of SONSOFTHEMERCH. After viewing the replays the connections did not contest the protest and SONSOFTHEMERCH was relegated to 5th placing by Stewards. Driver D Butcher advised that the gelding cast the near fore shoe during the running.
