FIVE O'CLOCK GERRY - lay in and dislodged a track marker near the 1350m. Trotted roughly early in the run home after contacting the sulky wheel of ULTIMATE MOMENT. Junior Driver C Hackett (assisted by T Herlihy) was issued a warning in relation to this incident. In considering the matter Stewards took into account that there were no consequential effects as the sulky tyre had not been punctured.

CYCLONE LUCKY LINDA - broke near the 500m losing all chance. Stewards questioned drivers Z Butcher (CYCLONE LUCKY LINDA) and D Balle (KIMKAR DASH) regarding this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing from both drivers, it was established that KIMKAR DASH had commenced to shift outwards before being corrected back down towards the marker line when CYCLONE LUCKY LINDA was improving to its outside. CYCLONE LUCKY LINDA then lay inwards rounding the bend which contributed to contact being made to KIMKAR DASH's sulky resulting in CYCLONE LUCKY LINDA breaking. After considering the matter, Stewards were satisfied that culpability could not be solely attributed to either horse or driver. Accordingly, no further action was deemed necessary other than to note the circumstances. Trotted roughly in the run home. Connections advised the mare cast the near fore shoe during the running. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the mare had a suspected fractured off fore pedal bone which required Veterinary treatment with x-rays being taken tomorrow. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the mare with connections in the coming days.

CYCLONE LUCKY LINDA - when questioned regarding the performance Driver Z Butcher stated that he was not disappointed with the run after racing three-wide from inside the 1000m and having to improve wide on the final turn.

ROMEO FOXTROT - over-raced through the middle stages when attempting to restrain to obtain cover. Trotted roughly in the run home. Driver J Bublitz was warned for her lack of control leaving the final turn when allowing her horse to shift wider on the track when activating gear.

BREAK FREE - swung sideways when the barrier strands were released losing all chance and was retired from the race. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming.

JASINOVA - authorisation of 1st placing was withheld to enable an investigation to be held into an incident near the 150m where JASINOVA shifted inwards checking WISHING STAR which trotted roughly for a stride as a result. After hearing evidence from Drivers S Abernethy (WISHING STAR), L Chin (JASINOVA) and viewing the replays Stewards did not proceed with a Protest as it was established that WISHING STAR would not have beaten JASINOVA had the interference not occurred with 1st placing being duly authorised. Dr Chin admitted an associated charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions, the Adjudicative Committee suspended his driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including the 10 November 2023 (3 days).
