Under pressure near the 500 metres and tired to finish at the rear beaten 63 lengths. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer S Telfer advised that it was his intention to freshen the horse and undertook to contact Stewards should anything surface that would explain the performance. | |
| DOUBLE TWIST - An information was lodged alleging that Junior Horseman T Lethaby used his whip excessively driving the mare over the final stages. The charge was admitted with the penalty hearing to be heard at the Auckland TC's meeting on the 15 September 2017. | |

| DEER HUNTER - broke shortly after the start and was retired from the event. It was established that a front hopple loop broke causing it to gallop before the other front hopple loop also broke. The gear was inspected and found to be in good order with the trainer deemed not to be at fault. | |
| LINCOLN STREET - broke when contesting the lead rounding the first bend and was taken wider on the track losing ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. | |
