Stewards exercised discretion in relation to the arrival time on course for the following runners in Race 8 - ROYAL WILLIE, DJOKOVIC and SUNSET PEAK, after the float transporting these horses encountered mechanical difficulties en route.

BANNER OF ART - led up and was pressured during the middle stages before weakening to finish in 8th place beaten 5.5 lengths. When questioned regarding the performance Driver T. Macfarlane stated that although he was taken on in front racing down the back the first time, he was disappointed with the performance.
SLY ELEANOR - held up early final turn.
SLYS SHADOW - weakened final stages.
CARLAW PARK - Driver D. Butcher momentarily dropped his left leg from the sulky footrest early in the run home when activating gear.
SPIRIT OF LOVE - paced roughly passing the 800 metres when attempting to shift another runner wider on the track.

SCANRECO BAY - Driver M. McKendry was cautioned for the manner in which he drove entering the back straight the first time when attempting to maintain a position in the one out running line.
TACT OLLIE - Trainers P and V Blanchard were issued with a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100.00 for presenting the gelding without the notified blinds.
RICHARD LE FORT - Driver D. Ferguson was cautioned for the manner in which he drove entering the back straight the first time when attempting to obtain a position in the one out running line.

JOMO - caused a false start at the first attempt when bounding forward through the 10 metre barrier. A warning was placed on this gelding's standing start barrier manners.
HE'S LIKE THE WIND - improved around to race outside the leader in the middle stages and commenced to give ground near the 500 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.
HARRY H - raced at the rear throughout after starting from its 20 metre handicap. Shifted out passing the 900 metres and gave ground over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality. When questioned regarding the performance Junior Driver F. Schumacher stated that the gelding had failed to handle the bends and in particular near the 900 metres and then again on the final turn when laying in.

EYE LASH - broke in the score up but was in position prior to despatch. Broke near the 250 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners record.
AMERICAN BRAVE - paced roughly racing down the back the final time when outside the leader. Broke approaching the 200 metres. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality apart from an abrasion on the off fore coronary band. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners record.
TAMARA GOLD - over-raced during the middle stages when trailing the leader.

JEMA JET - hung in at various stages. Forced three wide near the 900 metres, tired from the 500 metres. A warning was placed against this mare's racing performance.
RANGI RANGDU - lay in and paced roughly on the final turn.
SUZIE PEE JAY - held up briefly final turn. Driver K. Marshall reported that he did not activate the deafeners due to being out of contention over the final stages.

RORY MCILROY - weakened final turn.
CHEROKEE WARRIOR - Junior Driver M. Johnson reported that the off hind hopple loop had broken during the running. This gear was inspected and found to be in satisfactory condition.
TAHLIA FRANCO - broke shortly after the start when racing in restricted room but soon settled. Starter F. Phelan was shown the replay and spoken to in relation to the positioning of the mobile gate late in the score up which resulted in the inside arm extending inside the marker line.
CURLIMORE - held up early final turn. Junior Driver T. Cameron reported that he had been unable to activate the sliding blinds due to the release cord becoming entangled.

ARAMIS - held up early final turn.
DANCE TIME - over-raced middle stages when three back on the inner. Had difficulty obtaining clear running early in the home straight.

LOVELY BUNDY - stood on the mark when the barriers were released and was slow to begin.
TORBJORN - held up early final turn.
GEORGE - held up early final turn and over the initial stages of the home straight.
SUNSET PEAK - held up final turn and throughout the home straight when unable to obtain clear running.

CAITLIN'S SURPRISE - Trainer D. Balle was issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100 for presenting the mare to race with the incorrect saddle cloth.
THE REV - broke at the start and settled at the rear. Weakened final stages.
AMY'S INVASION - trotted roughly for several strides final turn.
A GLASS OF TANQUERAY - held up and inconvenienced by a tiring runner on the final turn.
