Race 3 - KAIAPOI CLAIMERS MOBILE PACE
At a JCA hearing today, Driver T Quate (assisted by senior horseman M Williamson) defended a breach of Rule 868(2) in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ was given full opportunity to obtain the best possible finishing place when not improving his position near the 300 metres. After viewing replays and hearing the evidence, the JCA reserved their decision.

Race 3 - COCA-COLA AMATIL MOBILE TROT
Trainer J Harrington has advised Stewards that DIANA HARBOUR had undergone X-Rays which have confirmed a hairline fracture to the mare's Pedal bone along with a suspected fracture to her Pastern which will be re X-Rayed in the coming days to confirm. Mr Harrington stated that given this injury he would be reassessing the mare's racing future.
Race 8 - PLUMBING WORLD HANDICAP TROT
Trainer J Harrington has advised Stewards that blood tests taken from HEY YO the subsequent morning to this race had found the mare to be dehydrated along with what was described as suffering from the tail end of a viral infection. Mr Harrington further advised that the mare would be treated and continue with its racing programme.

GIRLZ N BOYZ - tangled briefly at the start. Held up early stages of the run home.
MASIES PRIDE - trotted roughly through the early stages.
EDEN CREEK - driver T Chmiel advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
LEO'S GIFT - tangled briefly at the start. Inclined to lay inwards and trot roughly near the 1100 metres. Lay inwards over the concluding stages.
JERRY GARCIA - raced wide through the early stages.

MAW OF A WOMAN - raced keenly through the middle stages. Trainer A Swain advised that the mare had bled during the race which was confirmed by the Veterinarian. This mare is now stood down for the mandatory 30 days and must supply a veterinary clearance and complete one satisfactory trial prior to resuming. Mr Swain advised that he would no longer persevere with MAW OF A WOMAN from his stable.
LORRETTA FRANCO - a false start was declared after the mare broke in the score up checking trailing runners. Driver M Williamson elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the re-start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of LORRETTA FRANCO.
JEMIMA FRANCO - C Thornley was an authorised late change of driver after declared driver R McIlwrick failed to make himself available for his engagement. Mr McIlwrick was fined the sum of $300 by the JCA for breaking a driving commitment.
FLYINGMASTERWILLIAMS - raced wide in the early stages before improving to the parked position near the 1300 metres.
FOUR STARZZZ LEGEND - raced wide early stages and was restrained to the rear of the field. Weakened final bend.
CRAFTY CULLEN - held up early stages of the run home.
MASTER MAX - weakened final bend.

ZAHARA ZURI - hung inwards in the home straight and briefly shifted into the passing lane before being corrected.
MILLWOOD CHARITY - broke at the start. Over-raced middle stages.
THE RED BARON - held up rounding the final bend.
CLASSIE CULLECT - broke at the start losing all chance.
ANGUS STAR - hampered at the start.
MISTY MEMORY - reared at the start and swung inwards making contact with the sulky of ANGUS STAR losing all chance. A warning was placed on the filly's barrier record.
RAFA NOVAK - began awkwardly.
GOD ONLY KNOWS - hampered at the start. Over-raced middle stages. Held up rounding the final bend.
HIGHVIEW JUSTICE - held up rounding the final bend and early stages of the run home.
CHRISTMAS TOYBOY - broke at the start losing ground.

DON'T LOOK BACK - broke at the start losing its chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer D Gillespie.
DI'Z LUCK - when questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing effort, driver B Orange explained the filly was inclined to hang outwards throughout and was disappointing. Trainer G Smith advised that the filly may be feeling the effects of its most recent racing and would be giving her a respite prior to resuming. A post-race veterinary examination showed no abnormalities.
TIJUANA TAXI - broke at the start. Weakened final bend.
STYLISH DUKE - broke after 150 metres. Authorisation of 4th placing being awarded to the gelding was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the horse had not breached the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages.
LINDSAY CASTLETON - trotted roughly throughout. Weakened final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed tenderness to the gelding's near hind suspensory ligament. Caretaker trainer A Hoffman advised that LINDSAY CASTLETON would be sent for a significant spell.
ALL LIT UP - hampered early stages.

IODEAN - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Slow away. Hung inwards and paced roughly final bend. When spoken to regarding the improved performance, trainer/driver R Holmes advised that the mare had improved with recent racing and had performed well at trials last week and he was confident of a forward showing for today's engagement.
REGAL SUZY - unable to maintain the trail near the 2000 metres which enabled MAN OF STEEL to obtain this position. Held up throughout the run home.
GERALD - broke at the start. Hung inwards racing round the bends and through the early stages of the run home.
COMIC BOOK HERO - tangled away.
NORTHVIEW MAJOR - broke at the start losing its chance.
SHARDS HALO - over-raced when being challenged for the lead near the 2000 metres.
THE KAIK - broke at the start. Shifted inwards nearing the 250 metres causing BISHOP BRIAN to check and be steadied. Junior driver C Jones, who declined assistance from a Senior Horseman, was shown the films and cautioned to allow runners to his inside sufficient room in future.
BISHOP BRIAN - placed in restricted room and had to steady nearing the 250 metres.

LINDA'S CULLEN - paced roughly for a stride then broke racing into the first bend.
BLAZER S - broke near the 600 metres checking trailing runners.
MANDOLIN - broke near the 800 metres.
ROCKNROLL NEVIN - hung inwards in the early stages and had to be steadied.
MARTIN MCGUINNESS - inconvenienced by the breaking BLAZER S near the 600 metres sustaining a punctured sulky tyre and losing its chance.
GREEN FINGERS - checked near the 650 metres after making contact with the outside sulky tyre of BLAZER S which deflated.
BEAUDIENE GAMBLER - sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 650 metres.

GORILLA PLAYBOY - fractious prior to the start before rearing and falling to the track. Underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Reared as the start was effected hampering SCARLETT LANE, OCH AYE THE NOO and SARAH PALIN. Declared unruly for future standing starts. Weakened final bend.
SCARLETT LANE - hampered at the start. Held up final bend.
FRENCH DESIRE - held up final bend.
HOLLY TROUBLE - driver J Morrison reported he sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running
LAUGH AND CRY - held up final bend and early stages of the run home.
DREAM BIG - Junior driver J Campbell will be spoken to in the coming days for the manner in which he drove over the concluding stages.
DANIELLE AMORE - raced wide through the early stages.
OCH AYE THE NOO - hampered at the start.
SARAH PALIN - hampered at the start. Held up final bend.
REDWOOD INVASION - broke nearing the 1450 metres and continued to do so for a distance. Stewards lodged a protest against 3rd placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations for galloping in excess of 150 metres during the running. The connections did not contest the protest with REDWOOD INVASION being disqualified by the JCA. Junior driver M Anderson was cautioned to take a breaking runner clear of the field at the earliest opportunity.

GIMMEGOLD - hung inwards exiting the final bend and raced inside pylons.
MARAT SAF FINN - checked first bend.
SPEEDY MACH - driver M Williamson reported the gelding had hung inwards badly on the final bend and would be recommending a bit extension.
LEADING THE WAY - checked first bend.
TO RI ALBY - broke at the start losing its chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
LOCKED OUT OF HEAVEN - broke racing into the first bend checking MOTU SPEEDY STAR, MARAT SAF FINN, LEADING THE WAY and WOBBEGONG. A warning was placed on the racing record of LOCKED OUT OF HEAVEN.
MOTU SPEEDY STAR - checked racing into the first bend losing its chance.
ERROL FINN - hung inwards when under pressure rounding the final bend and raced greenly.
WOBBEGONG - checked first bend.
