Race 1OXFORD MOBILE TROTVideo  Video 
TEHORO NOVA - trainer R Holmes was issued with a minor infringement notice and fined $100 after a hind bandage came adrift during the running.
FAMILY NIGHT - raced keenly passing the 300 metres when held up.
SUNRISE SPUR - broke passing the 100 metres. A protest was lodged against the fourth placing pursuant to Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations in that the gelding had galloped in excess of 50 metres inside the final 200 metres. The protest was not contested by the connections with SUNRISE SPUR being subsequently disqualified.
WOOMAMASAMPSON - broke at the start and failed to settle for a considerable distance.

BOOMER - broke briefly at the start. Driver B Butt advised the sliding blinds were not activated due to the cord becoming entangled.
NUI BA DEN - slow to begin before breaking losing ground. Hung outwards entering the bend near the 1100 metres and in consequence made contact with the sulky of BOHANNAN resulting in that driver becoming unbalanced momentarily. Improved wide from the 500 metres.
BOUND TO IMPRESS - lay outwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
MAGICAL MATTY - broke at the start. Held up rounding the final bend then had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the home straight.
BICTON - hung outwards from the 800 metres.
VYNDETTA - held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight until near the 150 metres. When questioned in regard to the seemingly improved performance of the filly trainer P Burrows advised that at its most previous start at Rangiora on the 9th July in his opinion the tempo of the race did not suit the filly on that occasion and he has since altered the filly's training preparation. Mr Burrows added that the filly is better suited when driven with a sit with it being his intention to have VYNDETTA driven in this manner in future where circumstances permit.
BOHANNAN - broke at the start. Contacted by another runner near the 1100 metres resulting in R Holmes becoming unbalanced in the sulky momentarily.
MILLWOOD CHARITY - over-raced through the middle stages.
WAIKARI FIRE - late scratching at 11.13 am on Veterinary advice.
 
Race 3KAIAPOI CLAIMERS MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
CELEBRITY EASTON - over-raced during the score up. Claimed from the event.
HIGHVIEW ILLUSION - broke during the score up and as a result was several lengths out of position at dispatch. A warning was placed against the gelding's mobile barrier record. Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
ZAKSPATROL - claimed from the event.
FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ - over-raced for a distance passing the 650 metres. Held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight until nearing the 100 metres. Stewards questioned junior driver T Quate (with the assistance of Senior Horseman B Orange) regarding the tactics he adopted from the 500 metres when electing not to shift the gelding into a three wide position when the opportunity existed. After hearing Mr Quate's explanation Stewards issued a charge pursuant to Rule 868(2) in that he failed to take reasonable and permissible measures to ensure the gelding was given every opportunity to obtain the best possible finishing position when electing not to improve his position near the 300 metres. Mr Quate defended the breach with the JCA adjourning the matter sine die. Claimed from the event.
 
Race 4OKUKU MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
DANCE N JEWEL - held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight. Driver C DeFilippi advised that the removable hood was unable to be activated due to the cord becoming entangled.
DYNAMO - over-raced near the 1400 metres when being restrained.
ONEDIN EXPRESS - raced wide without cover through the early and middle stages.
ADMIRAL - held up briefly near the 300 metres prior to being shifted wider to obtain clear racing room.
TARA TUTAIA - raced wide without cover from the 1000 metres. Hung inwards on the bend near the 600 metres.
DONEGAL LUCY ANNE - held up throughout the run home. Raced roughly and broke for several strides over the final stages. Stewards withheld authorisation of dividends until they were satisfied that the filly had been in its correct gait when reaching the finishing line.
DIVINIA BELLEZZA - held up final bend having to shift ground inwards to obtain clear running.
RICO GOLD - hung inwards in the straight contacting several markers.

BORN AGAIN DELIGHT - weakened on the final bend
BRIDGET BLUE CHIP - junior driver S Whatuira (with the assistance of Senior Horseman R Holmes) admitted a breach Rule 869(2)(a) in that she used her whip in an excessive manner over the concluding 400 metres. After considering submissions the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
LAYTONS LASS - late scratching at 8.41 am on veterinary advice.

OK I'M BAD - broke briefly at the start.
SMOOTH MARA - broke at the start. Held up rounding the final bend.
RUN BOY RUN - held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight.
DEN'S LEGACY - broke at the start. Hampered momentarily entering the first bend when DIAMOND LIFE (R May) shifted inwards. Raced roughly rounding the final bend.
FLAMBOYANT - broke briefly at the start.
TAKITIMU EXPRESS - broke at the start. Driver K Butt reported that one sliding blind failed to activate.
SPOOKY - driver L McKay reported that the removable hood was unable to be activated due to the release cord breaking.
DIAMOND LIFE - displayed poor barrier manners causing a slight delay to the start. Raced greenly in the early stages. Hung inwards when placed under pressure near the 200 metres having to be steadied. Driver R May reported that the gelding had resented the addition of the murphy blind and will be recommending that this be removed prior to its next start. Driver R May was cautioned for the manner in which he shifted ground entering the first bend.

ROCKI WARRIOR - broke at the start.
GLENFERRIE CLASSIC - broke at the start.
THISISMYLASTFLIGHT - broke at the start. Over-raced near the 500 metres.
ALPHA ROCK - when questioned regarding the performance driver D Dunn reported that the gelding felt flat throughout the running and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
BILLY BADGER - underwent and passed a pre-race veterinary examination. Hung inwards throughout. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn could offer no tangible explanation and believed that the colt had been unsuited by the tempo of the race.
 
Race 8JOAN BELCHER LEGACY MARES SPEED SERIES MOBILE TROTVideo  Video 
SHPEEDY - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the home straight until 150 metres.
BK DAWN - broke shortly after the start.
CLOVER LADY - hung inwards throughout the home straight despite the efforts of driver R Close who in consequence was unable to shift the mare to obtain clear running until over the concluding stages.
MONKEY LUCK - when questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver K Cameron could offer no tangible explanation other than the mare had sucked wind during the running. Mr Cameron added that nevertheless, in his opinion the mare would derive benefit from the outing.
DIANA HARBOUR - driver G Smith advised that he sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
 
Race 9KOWHAI MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
REAL RAIDER - driver M Williamson advised that one removable earplug failed to activate.
OPAWA MACH - raced wide in the early stages prior to being restrained to obtain cover. Improved wide from the 800 metres.
ASK ME ART - broke in the early stages. Held up on the home turn and broke with 200 metres to run. A warning was placed against the racing manners record of the gelding.
ARTICULIGHT - hung inwards rounding the final bend.
LINDA'S CULLEN - held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the home straight being inconvenienced near the 200 metres by a breaking runner.
TOLL GATE - held up rounding the final bend.
