Race 8 - PI & GJ KENNARD BLOODSTOCK HANDICAP TROT
ALL LIT UP - Stewards questioned driver L O'Reilly regarding his decision to shift outwards on the final bend as opposed to maintaining his position and utilising the soon to be available passing lane. Mr O'Reilly advised his visibility had been compromised by the rain affected track and when he noticed BEYOND THE HORIZON shift outwards he considered it was most likely to be due to the leader weakening or breaking which he was aware REDWOOD INVASION had previously been prone to. For that reason he felt it beneficial to shift outwards and follow that runner forwards. Soon after he realised that REDWOOD INVASION had not broken and was still travelling comfortably so attempted to shift inwards however that position had been filled by ALL SETTLED DOWN leading him to become held up. Stewards considered that despite this decision costing ALL LIT UP a higher placing the reasoning behind it was not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.

Mr Dunn explained that he was reluctant to improve three wide without cover as he felt at this stage of the horse's career it was not best suited to racing wide and without cover over such a considerable distance. He added that he had attempted to shift outwards behind RUN BOY RUN to obtain cover however had been unable to do so. Mr Dunn further added that the three wide line had failed to progress forward resulting in him being poorly positioned towards the rear of the field until leaving the final bend.
