BISHOP BRIAN - underwent a post-race veterinary examination after returning to the assembly area with blood in its mouth. This examination confirmed the gelding had bitten its tongue.
LINDA'S CULLEN - broke in the score up checking runners on the second line with a false start being declared. Junior driver S Tomlinson elected to move to the unruly position for the re-start. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record. Raced fiercely in the early stages. Hampered for a short distance near the 900 metres.
MORDECAI - hung inwards racing into the first bend.
HARD DAYS NIGHT - over-raced in the early stages.
ASK ME ART - paced roughly near the 1000 metres and had to be steadied.
SHE'SA TRICKY BRIDGE - hung outwards entering the straight near the 1400 metres resulting in the mare losing her position in the two wide line and having to race three wide thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination showed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 3BOOK TO SWEET LOU NOW & SAVE $2000 MOBILE PACEVideo  Video
KARDESLER - held up on the final bend. Driver R Payne was questioned regarding his decision not to improve his colt outwards near the 550 metres prior to becoming held up. Mr Payne explained his colt was only able to maintain a sprint for approximately 200 metres at this stage of its career and was therefore not suited to racing wide on the final bend. He added that it was his intention going forwards to drive this horse in a similar manner when circumstances allow.
DUPLICATED - Driver T Williams was questioned regarding the effort he made over the final 50 metres to ensure his gelding had fulfilled the highest possible placing. Mr Williams explained his horse had attempted to run away from the boring pole in the early stages of the run home causing it to lose some ground. He added from that point he had tried his gelding with the whip and reins but had been disappointed with the response he had received. Notwithstanding the racing manners of DUPLICATED in the early stages of the run home, Mr Williams was reprimanded for failing to drive his runner out to the end of the race when there was a reasonable chance his runner may finish in a higher placing.
GIMMEGOLD - hung inwards on the final bend and in consequence was unable to maintain its position following DON PIERRE. Continued to hang inwards in the early stages of the run home

CHRISTMAS TOYBOY - broke at the start losing all chance.
REVVING - Stewards questioned driver G Smith as to the reason he did not utilise the passing lane in the home straight. Mr Smith stated his filly was hitting a knee and he felt it would be in the horse's best interest to shift to the outside for a run. Stewards noted Mr Smith's comments.

REDWOOD INVASION - raced roughly in the early stages for a short distance.
IMPERIAL WHIZ - commenced to weaken with 400 metres to run.
ALL SETTLED DOWN - held up early stages of the run home. When questioned as to why he did not improve his position near the 1400 metres to race in the one one and instead remain four back on the running line, driver G Smith explained that in the past his mare's form has been over the shorter distance races and consequently his mare is not suited to covering extra ground in a race. He therefore felt it was in his best interests to continue to race on the pylons and save ground, adding that in his opinion if he had shifted off the pylons at this time it would have been detrimental to finishing the race off in a competitive manner. Stewards noted Mr Smith's comments.
RONALD J - driver S Whatuira reported the removable deafeners were not activated.
ALL LIT UP - Stewards questioned driver L O'Reilly regarding the manner he drove near the 300 metres when shifting outwards in pursuit of clear running when it was apparent the passing lane would soon become available.
