General
1). Selected horses on today's programme were subjected to pre race blood testing.

2). Race 3 was advertised in the on-course race book as being a Mobile Start as opposed to a Standing Start. This correction was announced through the appropriate channels.

3). Stewards spoke with several drivers after Race 1 in regards to the shifty nature of the track in particular the area from the 3 wide line inwards. Drivers were unanimous in their opinion that the track was safe however felt that a significant amount of track surface could be removed to rectify their concerns. Stewards spoke with the Club's president who undertook to do remedial work on the track surface for the second day of the meeting.

4). The start of Race 5 was delayed by 21 minutes due to the ambulance attending an incident in the stabling area and the subsequent need for a further ambulance to be called. In the incident Driver K Gill suffered a leg injury and was transported to hospital for further evaluation. Miss Gill is required to tender a medical certificate before resuming driving.

5). Due to circumstances out of the Club's control water was unable to be applied to the track until Race 5.

DRAGON BOY - broke after 100 metres.
STAR PRIDE - trotted roughly final stages.
LUMINOSITY - struggled to maintain its position through the middle stages. Trotted roughly negotiating the final bend.
MR FAHRENHEIT - lay up the track over the concluding stages. Junior Driver C Jones (who declined assistance from a senior horseman) was fined the sum of $300 by the JCA after admitting he had used his whip outside of the guidelines over the concluding stages.
RARANGI OPAL - broke after 100 metres. Broke again with 1000 metres to run.
SILVER SPUR - broke shortly after the start.
MUCHACHA BONITA - broke at the start losing its chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of Trainer B Hill.
GIRLZ N BOYZ - broke briefly at the start.

RISHI - broke in the score up and as a result was out of position at the candy pole.
BOULTS ON FIRE - paced roughly in the early stages.
LILY DUCKET - Driver R Close reported that the filly over raced throughout.

DONEGAL CARNBOUY - held up in the middle stages of the home straight.
NUI BA DEN - held up in the home straight. Driver R Anderson advised he was not afforded the opportunity to activate the removable gear.
J NINE - broke at the start.
MY NIKAYLA - Driver R Close advised that one sliding blind failed to activate.
CHEROKEE RED - displayed poor barrier manners. Reared at the start and lost all chance. A warning was placed on its barrier record. Driver G Smith advised he would be recommending gear changes.
FEAR ROCKN - broke at the start.
PLAYINGINTHESHADOWS - broke after 200 metres. Broke again on several occasions throughout the running with a warning being placed on its racing record.
 
Race 4RANGIORA EQUINE SERVICES/D & C BUTT RACING MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
BERAGIO - hung inwards and broke near the 1100 metres. Weakened final bend. A final warning was placed against the gelding's record.
BETTOR TRENZ - was slow in the early stages. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts at the request of Trainer R Anderson.
JEMIMA FRANCO - the boring pole was removed at the start due to it breaking in the preliminary. Held up by tiring runner from 600 metres.
SEVENTH WONDER - weakened badly from the 600 metres. A subsequent post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SPONDULICKS - ducked in marginally nearing the 100 metres and had to be straightened when under pressure.
FRANCO TOTEM - was held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
COMMAND LUSTRE - raced keenly in the score up and through the early stages. Hung inwards exiting the final bend.
HENRY EYRE - over raced through the early stages when being restrained. Paced roughly throughout the run home and broke just prior to the winning post.

A false start was declared after the 10 metre barrier strand failed to activate.
KAI TIME - broke negotiating the first bend. Weakened from the 600 metres.
SUNNY BILL - broke after 200 metres and lost its chance.
SOLAR STORM - broke with 1500 metres to run and again nearing the 300 metres.
ELLA ABBE - weakened considerably over the concluding stages. Driver R May advised that the mare was stirred up as a result of the delay to the race and the subsequent false start adding that she showed signs of tying up following the race.
WOT UP - trotted roughly rounding the final bend.
BACARDI N COKE - held up by tiring runner before breaking nearing the 450 metres.
SARAH PALIN - held up rounding the final bend and early stages of the run home.
THE PRINCE - Driver M Johnson advised that his outside sulky tyre deflated of its own account exiting the final bend.

This race was delayed by 11 minutes.
PAUL'S VERDICT - cast a hind shoe during the running. Driver R Close reported he was unable to activate the sliding blinds due to the cord breaking.
TAKITIMU EXPRESS - held up through the early stages of the run home. When questioned in regards to the performance of this gelding Driver J Cox said that he was satisfied with the run after getting well back in the run through the middle stages.
EXCEPTIONAL MAN - Driver R Holmes reported that the gelding paced roughly throughout.
BELLA JONES - raced wide middle stages before reaching the parked position.
ALL NUTS N BOLTS - over raced through the middle stages.
HES FAST AND FURIOUS - paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at dispatch. The gelding then paced roughly through the early stages.
IDEAL RULE - held up middle stages of the run home.

FREAK LIKE ME - broke in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mobile record of this gelding.
BLINGITON - raced roughly just prior to the finishing line.
CULLENZ DIAMOND - raced greenly nearing the 1100 metres. Weakened concluding stages. Driver R May advised the mare had failed to handle the shifty nature of today's track.
JAKIRA - held up through the middle stages of the run home.

CULLEY BACKY - was held up throughout the entirety of the run home with Driver S McNally advising he was not afforded the opportunity to activate the removable gear.
UNICO LEGEND - was held up through the early stages of the run home.
EXTRA GUINNESS - Driver S Abernethy advised that the removable deafeners did not activate due to the cord breaking.
ULTIMATE FELLA - was held up throughout the entirety of the run home. Driver G Smith advised he was not afforded the opportunity to activate the removable gear on this gelding.
VALOR LUSTRE - broke briefly at the start.
 
Race 9MARK JONES RACING STABLES/BLAIR ORANGE HANDICAP PACEVideo  Video 
IT'S ALL OVER NOW - weakened badly from the 400 metres. Trainer/Driver J Cox could offer no explanation for the mare's performance. A subsequent post race veterinary check revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of this mare prior to the second day.
OUR QUINN - broke at the start. Given its recent indiscretions behind the barrier this gelding will now be drawn unruly for future standing start races.
ARIZONA ATOM - slow to begin. Paced roughly and was inclined to lay outwards over the concluding stages.
HOPEFUL HARRIET - paced roughly and broke for a stride when improving 3 wide nearing the 1600 metres.
Trainer J Cox has advised Stewards that IT'S ALL OVER NOW has recovered well since its disappointing run at Richmond on Friday adding that if possible the mare will be driven with a sit today.

ENGLISH ROSE - Driver R May was questioned regarding the disappointing performance of the filly and advised that the filly had failed to handle the shifty nature of the track.
ACE HIGH - held up in the early stages of the run home.
ARCANO - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
BOBBY T - weakened from the 600 metres. A subsequent post race veterinary check revealed no obvious abnormalities.
BILLY BADGER - raced wide early.
