General
1). Race 1 on today's programme had their drivers allocated by ballot as part of the 'NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP'. As a result of this, C Negus was permitted to drive a horse other than those owned by herself.

2). Amateur driver A White admitted a breach of Rule 303(2) in that he misconducted himself by using offensive and abusive language towards Amateur driver Miss S Wigg during the running of Race 1. After hearing the evidence tendered by Stewards, several witnesses and Mr White the JCA suspended his licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including the 31st March 2018 (10 months).

3). Selected horses on today's programme were subjected to pre-race blood testing.

Trainer G Smith has advised Stewards that blood tests taken from DI'Z LUCK following its performance at Addington last weekend revealed muscle tie up with this being treated.

CLAUS - held up early stages of the run home.
FRANCO CALIPH - driver D Blakemore advised that one earplug failed to activate.
IT'S OFFICIAL - commenced to weaken with 500 metres to run. Driver G Cronin was cautioned for his whip use when out of contention.
ZULU COURAGE - forced REDMARO wide on the track nearing the 1100 metres. Driver S Wigg admitted a breach of the Push Out Rule, with the JCA imposing a fine of $200.
CAESAR'S QUEST - raced wide without cover through the middle stages before progressing to the lead with 1200 metres to run. Weakened exiting the final bend.
ALEXY - raced wide without cover through the early stages.
LIVE TO TELL - out of position at dispatch, driver C Wigg cautioned to maintain her position.
BOOSTER - out of position at the candy pole, despite the effort of driver W Rich.
REDMARO - eased wider on the track nearing the 1100 metres when racing to the outside of ZULU COURAGE.

TRICKY RASTUS - broke briefly after 200 metres and again passing the 1100 metres. Continued to trot roughly down the back straight before breaking again near the 700 metres.
SILVER SPUR - inclined to lay inwards throughout the run home.
SUNRISE SPUR - began to tire from the 500 metres.
FLYINOVA - broke at the start losing its chance.
OPAWA MAJESTIC - broke negotiating the first bend.
JERRY GARCIA - slow through the early stages. Broke after 100 metres. Hung inwards rounding the final bend trotting roughly. Continued to trot roughly throughout the run home.
 
Race 3BISHOPDALE/BUSH INN NZ AMATEUR DRIVERS CHAMPS HT 3 MOB PACEVideo  Video 
LIVING LEGEND - placed in restricted room and had to be steadied nearing the 2100 metres when placed to the inside of EASTWOOD CHIEFTAIN. Held up by tired runner entering the final bend. Driver A Edge was advised to exercise care after improving outwards when placing pressure on GABBY'S STAR down the back straight on the last occasion.
EASTWOOD CHIEFTAIN - driver T Woodward was cautioned to allow runners room to his inside when shifting ground after placing LIVING LEGEND in restricted room.
BLINGITON - driver D Blakemore reported that his inside tyre deflated during the running. Mr Blakemore was advised to exercise care after improving outwards when placing pressure on GABBY'S STAR down the back straight on the last occasion.
DON PIERRE - raced wide without cover through the early stages.
RED RANGER - raced roughly when improving three wide nearing the 1600 metres. Weakened from the 600 metres.
GABBY'S STAR - had to be steadied approaching the 700 metres and again shortly afterwards. The connections advised the gelding had sustained a punctured tyre during the running.

CHROMOZONE - inconvenienced and held up by tiring runner rounding the final bend.
SMOKE N REACTOR - required a sulky change prior to the event causing a delay of five minutes. Worked hard through the early stages. Weakened from the 400 metres. Driver S Ottley could offer no explanation for this performance. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of this filly in the coming days.
SAMSKARA - raced keenly middle stages. Held up rounding the final bend.
 
Race 5SEFTON PACEVideo  Video 
COURAGEOUS BECQUI - began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover from the 1200 metres. Weakened final bend locking wheels with TERRIER.
FRANCO TEVEZ - raced keenly briefly through the middle stages.
TERRIER - locked wheels exiting the bend with the tiring COURAGEOUS BECQUI losing all momentum.
GAME CHANGER - held up on the home turn.
HANDSOME HERO - driver G O'Reilly reported that the offside sulky tyre deflated during the running.
ROCKNROLL NEVIN - reared and stood on the mark losing its chance with a warning placed on its barrier record.
MISSINMEMATE - broke as the start was effected.

REDWOOD INVASION - broke at the start.
DIANA HARBOUR - broke in the early stages.
NATIVES LASTING LOVE - was awkward when improved into the passing lane and was inclined to lay outwards up the straight throughout the run home.
BRITE N LOVELY - shifted down the track after 200 metres placing HE'S LIKE THE WIND in restricted room. Driver I Cameron was spoken to and advised to exercise care when shifting ground in future.
RUSTY I AM - broke at the start.
DRAGON SUN - was inclined to lay inwards through the early stages of the run home.
HIGHLAND STAR - broke at the start.
WOODSTONE - broke at the start.
HE'S LIKE THE WIND - had to be steadied after 200 metres when placed in restricted room to the inside of BRITE N LOVELY. Broke exiting the final bend. Authorisation of 4th placing being awarded to this gelding was withheld until Stewards had viewed the films and were satisfied that the gelding had not breached the Breaking Horse Regulations.
CRADDOCK - broke at the start.
 
Race 7KAIAPOI PACEVideo  Video 
TESTINO - tired exiting the final bend finishing a distance from the winner. When questioned in regards to the performance driver J Dunn stated that he was disappointed with the run and could offer no explanation. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of this gelding in the coming days.
DONEGAL CARNBOUY - broke at the start.
CHANGEAROUND - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
PINE CONE - broke at the start.
PLAYINGINTHESHADOWS - over-raced and paced roughly near the 500 metres before breaking and losing its chance.
HAVANA MOON - displayed poor barrier manners prior to the start. Raced wide from the 1200 metres. Hung inwards when improving with 1100 metres to run.
DEN'S LEGACY - was held up throughout the run home with driver K Barron not afforded the opportunity to activate the removable deafeners.
SHADOWMAN - raced keenly middle stages.
THEBOYSLIGHTUP - broke at the start losing ground.
AWAYTOCULLECT - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
BOUND TO IMPRESS - raced wide without cover through the early stages.
 
Race 8JOAN BELCHER LEGACY FILLIES & MARES MOBILE TROTVideo  Video 
MAGNAFIQUE - trotted roughly in the score-up and as a result was out of position at dispatch. Trotted roughly in the home straight.
TEHORO DAZZLE - Stewards will speak with driver C DeFilippi in the coming days with regards to how he drove in the home straight.
TEHORO TEASE - broke after 200 metres. Weakened final bend.
OONA - trotted roughly around the final bend losing ground and continued to trot roughly throughout the final stages.
MEDUSA - trotted roughly in the score-up and was out of position at dispatch.
ALL SETTLED DOWN - held up early stages of the run home.

ROCKNROLL MAGIC - raced keenly down the back straight on the last occasion.
JONTY JAMES - locked sulky stays with LATE MAIL over the concluding stages.
LATE MAIL - locked sulky stays with JONTY JAMES over the concluding stages and had to be steadied, as a result of this driver B Orange advised he did not activate the sliding blinds.
PETITE'S BLUE CHIP - when questioned regarding the gelding's performance driver S McNally advised it was his first start back in over a year and he would expect the gelding to derive benefit from today's outing.
DISTINCTIVE DEL - held up for clear racing room through the early and middle stages of the run home.
BEVAN'S CULLEN - over-raced through the middle stages.

BUSHIDO - improved three wide from the 1300 metres and was forced wider on the track nearing the 700 metres and lost ground. Driver M Jones advised that the gelding had felt lethargic from the 1000 metres and expressed disappointment. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed a mild nasal discharge. Stewards will follow up with the recovery of the gelding in the coming days.
SCOTLYNN JACK - held up around the final bend and again just prior to the finishing line.
