Race 1 CHRISTCHURCH CASINO MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
PAT CAMPBELL - under pressure to hold its position near the 1000 metres. Compounded passing the 700 metres. A post-race veterinary examination showed the mare to have suffered an atrial fibrillation. PAT CAMPBELL was stood down until such time that a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG is forwarded to Stewards.
OHOKA JIMMY - raced wide in the early stages. Hampered near the 700 metres when buffeted by SWEET AS which was shifting outwards.
SWEET LORESS - slightly out of position at the start. Driver K Butt was issued with a warning.
WARLOCH - held up on the final bend.
HIGHLAND REIGN - held up on the final bend and throughout the run home. Driver J Young reported she did not activate the mare's deafeners.
SWEET AS - raced roughly for a short distance near the 700 metres when shifting outwards to avoid the weakening PAT CAMPBELL and in doing so made contact with OHOKA JIMMY.
MIGHTY AMERICAN - when questioned regarding the improved performance, Co-trainer K Barron advised the gelding was racing over 1950 metres tonight and had received a good run and benefited from a drop back in distance from its previous start over 2600 metres.
 
Race 2 AVON CITY FORD HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
REGAL LOVE - when spoken to regarding the filly's performance, Co-trainer and driver M Purdon explained he had become positioned further back than he had anticipated which his filly had been unsuited to with him advising he had been slightly disappointed with her efforts over the final stages.
GIN RUMMY - held up rounding the final bend.
FOREVERMAN - raced roughly near the 2100 metres losing several lengths in consequence.
NEEDLE - held up until the 200 metres. Stewards questioned driver C DeFilippi regarding his decision not to improve with the three wide line near the 700 metres but instead direct his horse inwards to follow DUSKY EYRE resulting in him being held up for some distance. Mr DeFilippi explained he had noticed D Dunn improve his runner (DUSKY EYRE) outwards into the two wide line giving him the impression the position following Mr Dunn would prove beneficial. He added that he did not anticipate KINGDOM COME which had been wide for some distance taking the three wide line any further forward and being mindful of his runner being fresh up since the 7th of April considered his best chance was to shift inwards and save ground on the final bend. After considering his comments his explanation was accepted by Stewards.
LAVROS JACK - broke at the start and lost considerable ground.
GERSHWIN - slow to begin. Broke passing the 1400 metres losing considerable ground.
 
Race 3 PGG WRIGHTSON NZ YEARLING SALES 3YO TROT FINAL (MOBILE) Video  Video 
BONNIE HIGHLANDER - broke late in the score up losing its chance.
ONE YANKEE GINGA - over-raced throughout the middle stages. Driver R Holmes reported the gelding had been striking the sulky discs throughout.
DI'Z LUCK - weakened near the 600 metres. Trainer/driver G Smith reported it was his intention to have blood tests taken in the coming days and undertook to notify Stewards of any irregularities that may become apparent which could help to explain the run.
ENGHIEN - hung inwards on the bend near the 400 metres and trotted roughly for several strides in consequence restricting the racing room available to PRESIDENT ROYDON. Trotted awkwardly in the run home. Driver R May reported he had not activated the gelding's deafeners.
PRESIDENT ROYDON - briefly placed in restricted room near the 400 metres contacting track markers in consequence.
OVER THE LOVE - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Broke again rounding the first bend losing its chance.
KISSMEIMLOADED - broke at the start losing ground. Trotted unevenly in the run home. Disqualified from 5th placing by the JCA for breaking in excess of 150 metres at the start. Trainer/driver J MacKinnon advised it was his intention to make shoeing alterations to his filly prior to resuming.
 
Race 4 WALKER DAVEY SEARELLS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
HAPPY HEIDI - held up for the final 150 metres.
UNICO LEGEND - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Driver R May reported the gelding had made contact with its own sulky wheel.
PATANJALI - held up middle stages of the run home.
CELESTIAL ARDEN - hung inwards throughout the run home.
CMEEROCK - raced keenly and was held up on the final bend and throughout the run home. Improved into a marginal run to the inside of DREAM TO REALITY near the 300 metres which had made a brief attempt to shift wider on the track. As a result struck several pylons when placed in restricted room. In assessing the incident Stewards deemed that DREAM TO REALITY had not fully vacated its position and was therefore entitled to shift inwards.
 
Race 5 LONE STAR RICCARTON SIRES STAKES 2YO TROT CHAMPS (MOBILE) Video  Video 
BJ LINDENNY - driver M Williamson advised his gelding had hung inwards on the final bend causing him some difficulty.
IMPERIAL WHIZ - weakened passing the 800 metres.
ONE MUSCLE HILL - broke with 400 metres to run. When questioned, driver M Purdon reported the colt had hung prior to galloping but was under pressure at the time. He added after racing keenly the connections had removed the blinds however he advised it would be his recommendation to reapply them for subsequent races. A post-race veterinary examination showed no apparent abnormalities.
PARAMOUNT KING - raced wide from the 1200 metres.
CASTLEREAGH - raced wide in the early stages. Raced wide from the 1000 metres.
SUNDEES SON - broke with 1400 metres to run. When spoken to regarding the performance, driver J Dunn advised the gelding had been uncomfortable and it was the stable's intention to remove the newly added half hopples.
UNIQUE ROSE - hung in under pressure and contacted pylons rounding the final bend.
MAJESTIC HURRICANE - broke with 500 metres to run.
MAJESTIC MAN - raced wide until near the 1000 metres when taken forwards to race outside the leader.
 
Race 6 IAIN McMILLAN MEMORIAL WINTER CUP (HANDICAP PACE) Video  Video 
IDEALINDIAMONDS - hung in when weakening on the final bend making contact with track markers.
CASH N FLOW - broke at the start losing ground. Driver T Williams advised that in his opinion the gelding may have been too fresh leading into tonight's event and anticipated it would derive considerable benefit from the run.
WAIKIKI BEACH - Stewards questioned driver N Rasmussen regarding the manner she drove near the 150 metres when shifting her gelding outwards after becoming awkwardly positioned close to the front legs of PICCADILLY PRINCESS which was attempting a marginal run between CLASSIE BRIGADE and her runner. After considering the explanation of Ms Rasmussen, Stewards adjourned the matter to give it further consideration.
 
Race 7 GARRARDS NZ SIRES STAKES SOPHOMORE CLASSIC (MOBILE PACE) Video  Video 
AVEROSS SPITFIRE - weakened passing the 1000 metres.
ZIMFANDEL - weakened rounding the final bend.
THEFIXER - shifted outwards under pressure in the run home. Driver N Rasmussen was advised that it was expected she make a better effort to maintain a straight course in the run home.
MONGOLIAN STORM - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the colt's barrier record.
LET IT RIDE - raced wide in the early stages. When spoken to regarding the gelding's performance driver C Thornley explained his runner had been unsuited to working hard in the early and middle stages to take up a forward position and then attempting to maintain the lead despite pressure from the improving THEFIXER.
FORGOTTEN HIGHWAY - paced roughly near the 150 metres and again over the concluding stages. Driver N Williamson was spoken to regarding his use of the whip early in the run home.
ZIMFANDEL - trainer B Negus has reported his gelding had pulled up lame the morning after the races with a subsequent examination revealing an active stone bruise which he felt was likely to have had some impact on his runner's performance.
 
Race 8 PGG WRIGHTSON NZ YEARLING SALES 2YO FILLIES FINAL (MOB PACE) Video  Video 
REKLAW'S GEM - broke shortly after the start causing interference to a runner on the second line. The filly was declared unruly for mobile starts.
SHENANDOAH - raced wide early stages. Over-raced middle stages. Heavily restrained approaching the 1200 metres when attempting to surrender the parked position.
COME DANCE WITH ME - paced roughly then broke passing the 300 metres.
ELLE MAC - slightly out of position at the start with driver N Rasmussen spoken to advisedly. Raced wide in the early stages before improving to the lead at the 1100 metres. When queried regarding the filly's performance driver N Rasmussen reported the stable had replaced the blinds with sliding blinds for tonight's race however she had not responded well to this and travelled lethargically in parts. Ms Rasmussen reported it was the stable's intention to reapply the blinds for subsequent racing.
BETTOR JOY - when questioned regarding the improved performance of his filly, driver D Dunn reported that the filly had been disappointing at its most recent starts when racing at Auckland however had responded well upon returning to its home base and had been training well leading up to tonight's race.
SAMSKARA - checked shortly after the start losing its chance.
A LISTER - hung inwards on the final bend with driver M Purdon having difficulty shifting his filly wider on the track and as a result became held up for a short distance.
 
Race 9 GARRARDS NZ SIRES STAKES SERIES No 34 FINAL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ALOKA - severely hampered near the 200 metres when being taken inwards over pylons, galloping and losing its chance.
ALTA MAESTRO - checked near the 200 metres losing ground.
CULPEKA - paced roughly shortly after the start.
THE DEVILS OWN - raced wide in the early stages to improve forwards to a position outside the leader. Shifted inwards abruptly near the 200 metres checking ALTA MAESTRO who was taken inwards causing interference to ALOKA. Stewards after speaking with driver N Rasmussen, who advised it was the stable's intention to make gear changes, placed a warning on the colt's racing record. N Rasmussen was questioned regarding the manner she drove her colt throughout this race when after restraining in the early stages to race at the rear of the field allowed the colt to improve on the bend near the 1600 metres to race outside the leading ALTA MAESTRO throughout. Ms Rasmussen explained that she had been forced to drive her horse from the back last week as dictated by the barrier draw and because of this felt her horse had avoided having a tough run unlike her main opposition. She added she considered both ALTA MAESTRO and SPANKEM to be vulnerable tonight after last week's race and so elected to drive in a more aggressive manner which is how she would have preferred to drive the colt last week but was unable to do so. After reviewing the films and considering her explanation her comments were noted.
 
Race 10 MORTLOCK McCORMACK LAW MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
VALMAGNE - broke approaching the first bend when racing to the inside of TORNADO VALLEY. An investigation was opened into this matter.
LEMOND - the all clear was delayed until Stewards were satisfied LEMOND had not gained any advantage when contacting several track markers throughout the run home. Stewards spoke with C DeFilippi regarding the manner he drove near the 300 metres when initially attempting to shift outwards then moving down the track causing some crowding to WILMA'S MATE. After considering the films and the explanation of Mr DeFilippi he was issued with a warning for placing that runner in restricted room. Mr DeFilippi was further warned for striking pylons throughout the run home.
WILMA'S MATE - had to be steadied in the early stages of the run home when attempting a marginal run to the inside of LEMOND losing momentum in consequence. An investigation was opened into driver D Butt not remaining on course for the required 15 minutes following his drive.
HABIBTI IVY - hung inwards on the bend near the 1600 metres and continued to do so for some distance. Again hung inwards on the bend near the 400 metres.
MARCOOLA - out of position at the candy pole. Driver C Ford will be spoken to in the coming days. Improved wide near the 400 metres but made no impression throughout the home straight. When spoken to regarding the entire's run driver C Ford advised the horse had failed to respond when placed under pressure and been disappointing in its efforts. A post-race veterinary examination showed MARCOOLA to be suffering from back pain with blood tests and treatment from a chiropractor recommended. Stewards will follow up with trainer K Ford in the coming days.
TEMPORALE - inconvenienced racing into the first bend. Had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
ROYAL SHINE - broke in the early stages.
 
Race 11 THE BREEDERS NEW ZEALAND OAKS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
AMERICAN EMPRESS - held up on the final bend by weakening runners.
MOSSDALE ROSE - hung inwards under pressure on the final bend striking track markers. Weakened passing the 600 metres.
JUICE BROGDEN - was inspected by the Veterinarian after returning to the stables with a laceration to the right hind coronary band. This filly has been stood down pending a satisfactory veterinary clearance.
PARTYON - raced wide over the early stages. Stewards spoke with M Purdon regarding the manner he drove near the 2000 metres when after being shifted wider on the track and making a brief attempt to improve his position he then restrained to race at the rear of the field. Mr Purdon explained that he considered SPANISH ARMADA was likely to improve to the lead which would leave his runner without cover throughout. He added that his filly had been disappointing last week and for that reason felt it was appropriate that he drive her in a more conservative manner.

DONEGAL CARRICKFIN - broke with 900 metres to run checking trailing runners. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
IDEAL ARDEN - held up final bend.
TORRID BROMAC - hung outwards in the early stages and shifted a considerable distance up the track.
ULTIMATE DESIRE - inconvenienced in the early stages.
MOONROCK - inconvenienced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout.
GLENFERRIE CLASSIC - checked near the 900 metres.
CULLEN WHO - over-raced middle stages. Checked near the 900 metres.
MONGOLIAN HERO - shifted inwards marginally over the concluding stages.

MAJESTIC LAVROS - broke passing the 200 metres losing its chance.
REGAL ASSASSIN - a false start was declared when the gelding started from unruly position 2 instead of unruly position 1. Lay in contacting pylons passing the 1100 metres.
B D SON - a false start was declared when the gelding started from unruly position 1 instead of unruly position 2.
