Race 2 - WOODLANDS WEANLING SALE - 21 MAY MOBILE PACE
Trainer J Cox has advised Stewards that following its performance at Addington last week, FRANCO SAXON was found to be suffering from corns with the gelding being treated this week.
Rangiora HRC - Sunday, 7th May 2017
Race 2 - MAI MAI TROT
Trainer R Holmes has advised Stewards that TEHORO NOVA was found to be suffering from the onset of a virus after competing at Rangiora last Sunday with this since being treated. Mr Holmes added that the mare has also had chiropractic work completed this week and will continue with its current campaign.
Race 6 - FERNSIDE MOBILE PACE
Trainer B Hill has advised Stewards that blood tests taken from BURNING RUBBER following its disappointing performance at Rangiora last Sunday have revealed no abnormalities. Mr Hill was of the opinion that the gelding did not back up from its run at Ashburton the previous week and will take BURNING RUBBER to trials and/or workouts before resuming.

BUSTER BRADY - over-raced middle stages.
HEAVEN ROCKS - paced unevenly through the back straight on the final occasion. Lay in early in the run home and had to be corrected.
 
Race 2 PGG WRIGHTSON NZ YEARLING SALES 2YO TROT FINAL (MOBILE) Video  Video 
MARQUIS DE SADE - broke at the start losing ground.
BORNTOBEASTAR - broke approaching the 900 metres losing ground.
SUCCESS COUNTS - broke in the score up losing considerable ground.
PARAMOUNT KING - broke with 150 metres to run. A protest lodged against the promoted 4th placing under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations for galloping in excess of 50 metres inside the final 200 metres was not contested by the connections with PARAMOUNT KING being disqualified by the JCA.
MAJESTIC CONNIES - Stewards questioned driver M Williamson as to whether he could have made a better effort to maintain the trail behind ONE MUSCLE HILL racing into the first bend. Mr Williamson explained his first starter had raced greenly in the early stages and that at this stage of its career he was not confident placing the horse under any considerable pressure and so instead had steadied. After reviewing the films Stewards accepted his explanation. Hung inwards badly on the final bend causing driver M Williamson some difficulty. Mr Williamson advised it was his intention to make gear changes particularly regarding the gelding's bit prior to returning to the races.
ONE MUSCLE HILL - broke in the early stages of the score up but was in position at dispatch.
STRESS FACTOR - broke passing the 500 metres. A protest lodged against 4th placing under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations for galloping in excess of 150 metres during the running was not contested by the connections with STRESS FACTOR being disqualified by the JCA.
SPRINGBANK LACHIE - driver B Williamson reported his gelding had travelled lethargically from the 500 metres and it was the intention of the stable to have blood tests conducted in the coming days. Stewards will follow up with trainer P Williamson.
B D SON - Trainer G Smith was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for being late to present his runner onto the track. Switched to a pace near the 200 metres and was unable to be corrected until just prior to crossing the finishing line. A protest lodged against the promoted 5th placing under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations for galloping in excess of 50 metres inside the final 200 metres was not contested by the connections with B D SON being disqualified by the JCA.

BIRD OF PARADISE - raced roughly in the early stages.
IT'S ALL OVER NOW - held up on the final bend.

GO DAVEY - hampered in the early stages.
NEARIS GREEN - hampered in the early stages.

SAILS - raced roughly in the early stages and got back as a result. Held up in the early stages of the run home.
WARLOCH - had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the final straight.
BUSHIDO - over-raced for some distance from the 2000 metres. Raced wide from the 1500 metres. Weakened passing the 600 metres.
DAYLIGHT ROBBERY - shifted wider final bend.
HAYDEN'S MEDDLE - raced wide and without cover until near the 1900 metres when taken forward to race outside the leader.
CRUZY DUDE - shifted wider final bend.
ZIMFANDEL - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
HIGHLAND REIGN - hampered near the 2200 metres causing a slight easing of the pace in the two wide line. Held up early stages of the run home.
SWEET AS - checked and broke on the first turn losing ground.
 
Race 5 CANTERBURY COPY SERVICE HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
HABIBI INTA - broke shortly after the start and galloped for a considerable distance losing its chance.
MISSANDEI - broke at the start settling quickly.
ROYAL SHINE - broke near the 150 metres and failed to settle. A protest lodged against 5th placing under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations for galloping in excess of 50 metres in the final 200 metres was not contested by the connections with ROYAL SHINE being disqualified by the JCA.
GEE UP NEDDY - raced roughly in the early stages. Lost contact with the field through the back straight and was unable to quicken over the final 400 metres. When spoken to regarding the gelding's run driver J Cox advised the gelding had been unresponsive when urged inside the final 1200 metres and was of the opinion the horse had not backed up from recent travel and racing in Auckland. A post-race veterinary examination showed no obvious abnormalities.

BEG HALL - held up early final turn. Driver K Butt advised the removable deafeners were not activated due to the cord breaking.
VENETO - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
GERSHWIN - raced three wide early.
ARRAN CHIEF - held up early final turn.
LEMOND - broke approaching the first turn losing ground before settling. Cleared from the unruly for standing starts.
 
Race 7 CLARK BOYCE LAWYERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CMEEROCK - carried a flat tyre for the final 600 metres.
SPARKLING DELIGHT - Driver G O'Reilly was issued with a warning for the manner in which he shifted ground near the 600 metres when taking his runner from a three wide to a two wide position which briefly restricted the racing room of A G'S WHITE SOCKS.
NOLAN SACKETT - held up throughout the run home.
FORGOTTEN HIGHWAY - raced wide in the early stages.
JACK'S LEGEND - raced wide in the early and middle stages.
A G'S WHITE SOCKS - hung inwards and raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Was restrained near the 600 metres when awkwardly positioned close to the wheel of CMEEROCK after being shifted inwards by SPARKLING DELIGHT. Held up late in the run home.
MONGOLIAN STORM - hung inwards when improving near the 500 metres.
 
Race 8 NEVELE R FILLIES SERIES No 39. FINAL (MOBILE PACE) Video  Video 
SOMEJOY - shifted inwards and locked wheels with MOSSDALE ROSE approaching the 100 metres. Driver K Barron was warned that in future it was expected he make a better effort to maintain a straight course.
MOSSDALE ROSE - locked wheels approaching the 100 metres when racing between AMERICAN EMPRESS and SOMEJOY which both shifted ground.

THEODOSIA - delayed the start when rearing and dislodged the boring pole which was re-affixed. Underwent a pre-race vet check and was cleared to start. A warning was placed on the filly's barrier record. Trainer/driver C Butt advised it was his intention to make gear changes. Stood on the mark and was slow to begin. Broke shortly after the start. Broke again passing the 300 metres.
THE BLOSS - broke passing the 2200 metres.
MUSCLES GALORE - broke at the start and lost all chance.
WAR SPIRIT - broke after 150 metres losing ground.
BACARDI N COKE - raced roughly in the early stages after making the lead then broke racing into the first bend losing ground.
GEENA'S SUCCESS - fractious at the barrier and was sent to the unruly position. This gelding will now be drawn unruly for standing starts.
RED HOT POKER - broke in the early stages.
NATIVES LASTING LOVE - checked in the early stages losing ground.
MEDUSA - switched to a pace in the early stages then broke losing ground.
REDWOOD INVASION - hampered in the early stages by a breaking runner. Broke near the 500 metres.
ALL SETTLED DOWN - broke shortly after the start.

ALOKA - broke for a short distance near the 200 metres. The all clear was withheld until it was confirmed the colt had not been in breach of the Breaking Horse Regulations.
BETTOR SENSATION - weakened near the 600 metres.
CULPEKA - hung inwards on the bend near the 400 metres.
ALL U NEED IS FAITH - raced three wide early.
THE DEVILS OWN - Driver N Rasmussen was issued a charge alleging her use of the whip had been improper when applying it to her runner whilst her foot was free of the footrest. The charge was admitted and after considering submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $1000. Ms Rasmussen was further reprimanded for using her whip in a continuous manner near the 100 metres.
THE BLACK PRINCE - held up for a short distance near the 300 metres.
MAJOR LUCKY - raced in tight quarters over the final stages.
SPANKEM - raced three wide in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 11 LINDAUER BEING SERVED AT SPECTATORS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SHEZZA GNP - raced wide early and middle stages.
ROCKNROLL PRINCESS - raced wide in the early stages. Under pressure passing the 1000 metres then compounded near the 800 metres and was not persevered with. A post-race veterinary examination showed the mare to have fibrillated. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to resuming.
DON DOMINGO - hampered near the 900 metres and became held up for a short distance in consequence.
CELESTIAL ARDEN - heavily restrained near the 1500 metres to take a covered position.
WHITTAKER - hung outwards prior to the start and was a length out of position. Improved three wide near the 600 metres, blundered and raced roughly near the 300 metres. When spoken to regarding this driver S Ottley reported the colt had struck its knee.
SHILLELAGH - over-raced middle stages. Held up final bend.
FRANCO HAMPTON - over-raced in the early stages.
CRACKAMOA - raced wide early and middle stages.
