Trainer L O'Reilly has advised Stewards that blood tests taken from SOUNDS LIKA GEM following its disappointing performance at Ashburton on Saturday have revealed no abnormalities with the filly being sent for a 3-4 week spell in consequence.
Trainer L Hanrahan has reported to Stewards that NOVAK has recovered well from its disappointing performance at Ashburton last Saturday. Mr Hanrahan added that the gelding is not suited to sitting parked and will be driven with a sit in future races where circumstances permit.

Race 7 - ALABAR SOUTHERN SUPREMACY STAKES FINAL MOBILE PACE
Co-Trainer N Rasmussen has advised Stewards that following its disappointing performance at Invercargill last week MAJOR HIPPIE had an ECG performed with this revealing no abnormalities. Ms Rasmussen stated that the gelding was lethargic following the race and as a result has been sent for a 6 week spell.
Race 10 - FOVEAUX COMMUNICATIONS MOBILE PACE
Trainer P Court has advised Stewards that after being involved in a race fall last weekend at Invercargill, MALIK has shown no ill-effects and will continue with its current campaign.

Race 1 CHRISTCHURCH CASINO FILLIES & MARES MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
BRITE N LOVELY - trotted roughly when hanging outwards near the 1500 metres then continued to hang out for some distance. Weakened from the 400 metres.
NATIVES LASTING LOVE - hung inwards negotiating the first bend and various stages throughout the running. Driver C DeFilippi admitted using his whip excessively over the final 400 metres with the JCA suspending his horseman's licence from the conclusion of racing at Rangiora HRC on the 7th May up to and including Timaru HRC meeting on the 14th May (2 days).
REIGN ON ME - was out of position at the candy pole. Driver K Townley was cautioned to make sure he was in position at this point in future. Lay inwards and trotted roughly over the concluding stages and was unable to be driven out with any vigour.
BOBBINS - raced wide in the early stages and was restrained to the rear.
DAIQUIRI - broke in the score-up losing its chance.
 
Race 2 WOODLANDS WEANLING SALE - 21 MAY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
JACKALACK SUE - was held up rounding the final bend.
ELLMERS IMAGE - hung inwards when racing around bends and weakened final stages.
MOGUL - broke as the start was effected with a warning placed on the gelding's barrier record.
FRANCO SAXON - held up early stages of the run home then paced indifferently when under pressure over the concluding stages. When questioned in regards to this trainer/driver J Cox expressed disappointment and explained that the gelding has paced unbalanced when tiring in the past. Mr Cox undertook to notify Stewards should anything become apparent in the coming days which would explain the performance.

MOY - faltered in its gait nearing the 100 metres when under pressure.
NOVEMBER GUY - broke in the score-up losing considerable ground. Again broke near the 700 metres.
IDLE MOOSE - trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
CELTIC THUNDER - lay outwards over the concluding stages and trotted roughly and was unable to be driven out.
ANOTHERDOLLYTROUBLE - broke briefly in the score-up and as a result was out of position at dispatch. Broke briefly passing the 1000 metres.
GAMBLING ON - broke at the start losing its chance.
JIMS DRAGON - inconvenienced slightly in the score-up and was out of position at the start as a result.

SPANKEM - driver T Williams advised he did not activate the colt's removable deafeners.
 
Race 5 BRENT COWAN PLUMBERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CHRISTOPHER BANNER - a warning was placed on this gelding's barrier record after it hung outwards, paced roughly and was slow through the early stages inconveniencing BOOMER BAILEY which broke and lost ground. Continued to hang out and proved difficult to steer through the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. A further warning placed on his racing record.
SHINEONUCRAZYDIAMOND - driver S Ottley advised that only one sliding blind activated.
CABLE BEACH - parked early and middle stages. Led from the 900 metres before hanging inwards and tiring from the 400 metres. Driver G Court advised he was not disappointed with the entire's performance given it was its first start in 8 weeks and expected the horse to derive benefit from the run.
ULTIMATE DESIRE - late scratching at 12.50pm. Stood down pending vet clearance.
BOOMER BAILEY - checked and broke shortly after the start.

LAVROS JACK - began awkwardly.
KOWHAI WHIZ - trotted roughly rounding the final bend and during various stages of the run home.
ARRAN CHIEF - raced keenly middle stages and trotted roughly passing the 100 metres.
 
Race 7 PLUMBING WORLD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SUPERFECTA - over-raced middle stages. Lay inwards over the concluding stages and had to be steadied.
BUSTER BRADY - when questioned regarding the improved performance caretaker trainer R Todd advised that the gelding had derived benefit from its recent placement to his beach stable. Mr Todd further added that its lead-up work had been positive and he was confident of a forward showing.
EARS BURNING - placed in restricted room momentarily shortly after the start. Over-raced at the start when being restrained and through the middle stages.
RAUKAPUKA RULER - when questioned regarding the performance of this colt driver J Dunn reported that he had raced keenly through the middle stages and that the colt may have been better suited to a more even race tempo throughout the entirety of the event. A subsequent Veterinary examination cleared the colt of any abnormalities.
 
Race 8 MICO PLUMBING HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
MAJESTIC MOMENT - displayed poor barrier manners and was sent to the Unruly for the start with a warning placed on its barrier record. Improved three wide from the 800 metres and weakened rapidly from the 400 metres. Trainer S Smolenski was spoken to regarding the barrier manners and performance of the gelding in particular his intentions given the horse had drawn in the field at the Rangiora HRC's meeting on Sunday 7th May 2017. Mr Smolenski explained that he would be making gear alterations prior to Sunday including the addition of an over check. Mr Smolenski was advised that a repeat of today's manners would result in the gelding being placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
THE BLOSS - broke after 150 metres. Over-raced middle stages.
ANOTHER CHAPTER - wide early stages.
DEVA JONES - broke after 100 metres. Trotted roughly nearing the 1650 metres.
 
Race 9 DEX, GREG, MARK - WDC CANADA 2017 MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CHELSEA ELLA - inconvenienced 900 metres. Was held up in the early stages of the run home with driver B Orange reporting he didn't activate the removable hood.
MILLWOOD STEFANIE - raced wide in the early stages. Over-raced through the middle stages before giving ground rapidly from the 900 metres shifting outwards and locking wheels with TUPELO MISSISSIPPI eventually being retired from the event. Driver M Anderson reported that the filly had been making a noise prior to tiring and that it was possible the filly had choked down. A post-race veterinary examination could find no abnormalities and as such a warning was placed against its racing manners.
BUBBLE GUM - inconvenienced 900 metres.
HONOUR THE BET - raced wide in the early stages.
DIE STANDING - out of position at the start. Driver J Sheenan was cautioned to maintain his barrier position in future. Inconvenienced 900 metres.
GOT A BEAUTY - raced wide without cover middle stages.
ASHI JETSUN - inconvenienced 900 metres.
DODGE PHOENIX - inconvenienced 900 metres. Hung outwards rounding the final bend. Became awkwardly positioned to the inside of CORENA LEA exiting the bend and raced inside pylons. Hung out badly over the concluding stages. Stewards questioned Driver T McMillan in regards to the reason he raced inside track markers entering the final straight and after taking into account his explanation along with the manners shown by DODGE PHOENIX at this stage of the race issued him with a caution to ensure a full run exists when attempting to improve his runners in future.
BETTOR THAN THAT - inconvenienced 900 metres.
TUPELO MISSISSIPPI - out of position at the start. Driver S Ottley was cautioned to maintain her barrier position in future. Locked wheels with the tiring MILLWOOD STEFANIE when improving to its outside nearing the 900 metres resulting in Miss Ottley retiring the mare from the event.

RUSSIAN EXPRESS - over-raced middle stages. Held up late in the run home. Removable deafeners not activated.
ZIMFANDEL - held up early stages of the run home.
KING SIZE - raced wide from the 1600 metres. Tired rounding the final bend.
GUNPOWDER - over-raced middle stages.
RAH DE RAH - held up early stages of run home.
HIGHLAND REIGN - raced wide from the 1600 metres. Over-raced middle stages.
CULLENZ DIAMOND - out of position at dispatch. Driver R May will be spoken to in the coming days regarding this. Was inclined to hang inwards through the early and middle stages.
SAILS - paced roughly when being shifted outwards.
Driver R May was issued with a warning under Rule 857(7)(g) after CULLENZ DIAMOND was not in position on the mobile at dispatch.
