Pre-race blood testing was carried out on selected runners.

Alcohol testing of horsemen was conducted.

Race 4 - DODGE PHOENIX
Trainer T McMillan advised that after the gelding's previous performance he indicated to Stewards that the horse would be sent for a spell however after discussions with the owners it was decided that after a brief freshen up the current campaign would continue with the horse running a pleasing trial at Ashburton last week. This information was relayed to the public.

ALI LINDENNY - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
IMRAN KHAN - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
SEA ROVER - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
FLYING DAN - slow away and broke approaching the first bend losing its chance.
IDLE MOOSE - broke shortly after the start losing ground and recovering quickly. Hung inwards in the home straight.
GIRLZ N BOYZ - hung inwards throughout and tired near the 800 metres.
FIRA - placed in restricted room passing the 200 metres.

GLENGARRY ROSE - hung inwards passing the 300 metres.
BETTOR CHANCE - broke in the score up and was slightly out of position at the start.
ONE FOR GRANNY - broke racing towards the first bend. Driver D Dunn advised that his filly, which was having its first start, over-raced and broke when being restrained to take a trail behind PADDY ME.
NICKY ANEW - broke briefly early in the score up. Held up on the home bend and in the early stages of the run home.

ONE YANKEE SON - broke near the 600 metres losing its chance.
QUAESTOR - broke approaching the 250 metres.
KATIKI LAD - broke racing into the first bend losing its chance.
RACHMANINOV - raced wide throughout.
MAJESTIC MAN - inconvenienced by a breaking runner at the 600 metres. Broke passing the 300 metres.
SUNDEES SON - Authorisation of payment of 3rd placing was withheld until such time that Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when firstly breaking racing into the first bend and again after it was established that the gelding had trotted roughly approaching the finish and had broken after the finishing line.
RED HARBOUR - raced wide throughout.

LIGHT YEAR FRANCO - lay in throughout the run home.
BURNING RUBBER - paced roughly shortly after the start.
MOTU BETTOR BE QUICK - raced wide in the early stages.
MISTER SLICK - broke for several strides early in the score up recovering to take up its position at the start.

TOP BRASS - checked by a galloping runner shortly after the start.
CINDY BROMAC - broke at the start.
SMOOTH MARA - checked at the start after MIDFREW TARPEDIEM shifted in locking wheels.
MIDFREW TARPEDIEM - broke at the start and shifted inwards locking wheels with SMOOTH MARA. A warning was placed on the gelding's standing start record. The connections advised they would be adding hopple shorteners to the gelding's gear.
FLAMBOYANT - over-raced in the middle stages.
ENGLISH ROSE - broke at the 500 metres after breaking gear, checking trailing runner. Stewards inspected the gear and found it to be in a satisfactory condition.
VOLATILE LAVRA - checked by a breaking runner near the 500 metres.
 
Race 6 CHERTSEY TROTTING CLUB PACE Video  Video 
KATIES NIGHTMARE - broke at the start. Broke again racing towards the first bend. A warning was placed on the filly's racing manners. Inconvenienced by a tiring runner rounding the home bend. Driver R Close advised that only one earplug had activated.
BOUND TO IMPRESS - held up middle stages of the run home having to shift ground outwards to obtain clear running.
LIMOSO - broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's standing start barrier manners.
TIMES STRIDE - weakened badly inside the 600 metres impeding trailing runners. A post-race veterinary examination including a scope showed the early signs of a respiratory infection which will be treated in the coming days.
VICTOR TANGO - inconvenienced by a breaking runner at the 2000 metres.
FRANCO REBEL - broke at the start settling quickly. Over-raced middle stages. Badly inconvenienced by a tiring runner rounding the final bend
MEGGY MOGS - broke at the start.
JUNKYARD MASE - the required veterinary clearance was supplied.

SUGAR CANE - driver D McCormick was advised to change his whip action.
ALL SETTLED DOWN - raced fiercely throughout when in the parked position and as a result was unable to finish the race off. Driver G Smith advised the mare is better suited to being driven with cover.
GOODTIME GAMBLE - over-raced in the middle stages. Broke at the 500 metres losing its chance.
BOBBINS - trotted roughly and broke for a few strides in the score up. Driver M Williamson was advised to change his whip action.
DRAGON SUN - broke as the start was effected. Broke at the 500 metres losing its chance.
 
Race 8 LEGENDS OF MID CANTERBURY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CRACKAMOA - shifted ground outwards abruptly at the 200 metres. An Information was lodged alleging that driver J Dunn drove carelessly when shifting ground outwards near the 200 metres when insufficiently clear of UNICO LEGEND (R May) which broke. Mr Dunn admitted the charge and after viewing the films and hearing submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
CLIVE - hung outwards near the 600 metres resulting in the trailing HOPEFUL HARRIET striking its sulky wheel with the tyre deflating. Raced in restricted room near the 200 metres.
QUEEN BEE BARDON - lay out in the score up.
UNICO LEGEND - placed in restricted room and broke when CRACKAMOA shifted outwards near the 200 metres.
SHINEONUCRAZYDIAMOND - held up for clear racing room until near the 200 metres.
 
Race 9 FARMLANDS HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
TROUBLE GIERO - trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
FOREVERMAN - broke over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, driver J Dunn stated that his gelding is more suited to a stronger pace and was unable to sprint when the pace quickened from the 400 metres.
SUNDONS FLYER - broke entering the first bend losing ground.
MISSANDEI - broke shortly after the start losing its chance.

TITANIUM - broke at the start losing ground.
GO DAVEY - held up throughout the run home.
MAC ALMIGHTY - broke at the start and settled at the rear.
JULIA LADY - lay inwards in the run home.
RUN BOY RUN - broke at the start settling quickly.
MIGHTY SANTANA - failed to gain clear racing room until inside the final 100 metres.
STERNS ARISING - began awkwardly then was inconvenienced by a galloping runner.

BIRD OF PARADISE - held up early stages of the run home.
CHAMPAGNE REIGN - failed to improve in the run home beaten 18 lengths. Tainer D Jones advised that the mare will no longer be persevered with as a racing proposition from his stable.
NOVAK - raced one out without cover and gave ground quickly in the run home. Stewards will follow up the recovery of this gelding in the coming days.
I AM YOURS - hung inwards in the early stages of the run home and paced erratically.
PIRATE BAY - raced fiercely over the early stages and allowed to improve forwards to the lead. Veered outwards near the 1300 metres and broke losing its chance. A warning was placing on the gelding's racing manners.
SOUNDS LIKA GEM - tired from the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination showed the filly to have a slow recovery rate. Trainer L O'Reilly advised he will have blood tests taken and will advise Stewards the results.
ZIMFANDEL - held up early stages of the run home.
SHARDAN SUZIE - paced roughly shortly after the start and broke for a few strides racing into the first bend. Broke with 400 metres to run. Driver C McDowell advised the filly had been striking the wheel discs.
