Driver R McIlwrick reported the gelding had made abnormal breathing noises during the running with a post-race veterinary examination revealing that the gelding was displaying respiratory distress. ALLAN GALLEON was stood down pending a veterinary clearance which is to include a satisfactory endoscopic examination. | |
PEGASUS HANOVER - broke near the 200 metres and failed to settle despite the efforts of driver C Graham. Stewards lodged a Protest into 3rd placing being awarded to this runner pursuant to Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation in that the gelding broke in excess of 50 metres in the final 200 metres of the race. Connections did not contest the Protest with PEGASUS HANOVER subsequently disqualified from 3rd placing. | |

AKRIS - driver A Suddaby was questioned regarding an incident approaching the 1400 metres where AKRIS raced roughly after shifting in and contacting the sulky of SNAP IT UP. Mr Suddaby explained that IDEAL ART, which had been over-racing, had contacted the back of his sulky placing him at some disadvantage. No further action was deemed necessary. Weakened rapidly from the 600 metres and was not persevered with thereafter. | |
