Race 1 CHRIS & PAULINE GARRICK HONORARY LIFE MEMBERS TROT Video  Video 
HEAVENLY LOVE - hampered in the back straight by a weakening runner.
BRITE N LOVELY - hampered in the back straight by a weakening runner.
RED HOT POKER - shifted outwards under pressure throughout the final straight.
AVEROSS DON - began awkwardly. Weakened near the 800 metres and compounded soon after finishing a considerable distance from the field. When spoken to trainer A Faulks explained he may have been unsuited to the fast time of today's event but was disappointed in the gelding's performance. Mr Faulks added it was his intention in the coming days, to have blood tests done and undertook to notify Stewards of any irregularities. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of this gelding.
GIN RUMMY - over-raced for a short distance near the 1300 metres. Driver I Cameron admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in which it was alleged he used his whip in an excessive manner in the final 400 metres. After considering penalty submissions Mr Cameron's horseman's licence was suspended at the conclusion of racing today up to and including 11th May 2017. (6 days).
GAME COMMANDO - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
JIMS DRAGON - hampered in the back straight by a weakening runner.
 
Race 2 DEAKS ELECTRICAL LTD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
PLAYINGINTHESHADOWS - weakened over the concluding stages. When spoken to regarding the gelding's performance trainer T Butt advised that he was disappointed with his run and added that the gelding will no longer race from his stable.
BUBBLE GUM - held up on the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
LOFTYS IDEAL - raced wide throughout. Weakened approaching the 600 metres. Stewards questioned driver S Payne as to the reason he remained in a three wide position from the 1600 metres. Mr Payne explained that despite his urgings his horse was not able to progress around the parked runner which always had the intention of remaining in that position thus resulting in Mr Payne having no option but to remain three wide. After viewing the videos and considering Mr Payne's explanation the Stewards took the matter no further.
MOTU BETTOR BE QUICK - raced wide without cover in the early stages.
BETTOR CHANCE - over-raced from the 1300 metres. When spoken to regarding the improved performance of this mare, the connections advised that the mare had been trialling well for its preparation for the most recent race, where she was checked out of contention and had been confident of a more forward showing today.
BETTOR THAN THAT - got his head up and raced keenly for some distance passing the 1800 metres.
 
Race 3 J D & E A PROPERTIES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CHRISTIAN LADY - raced keenly when positioned to the outside of the leader though the middle stages after making an unsuccessful attempt for the front near the 2100 metres.
FRANCO SAXON - raced wide without cover through the early stages.
ORDER ONLINE - checked near the 400 metres having to be steadied when shifted inwards abruptly.
HAYDEN'S MEDDLE - raced wide without cover through the middle stages.
SAILS - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room over the final stages.
EASTWOOD CHIEFTAIN - locked wheels with ROCK N ROLL DELIGHT at the 200 metres.
OMAR SHARIF - paced roughly and broke on the bend near the 400 metres. Driver S Ottley reported that the horse was striking itself causing him to pace roughly. A warning was placed on the racing manners record of this entire.
ROCK N ROLL DELIGHT - paced roughly and hung inwards, locking wheels with EASTWOOD CHIEFTAIN for a short distance near the 200 metres losing ground.

BANZIE - improved wide passing the 1000 metres. Weakened near the 400 metres.
 
Race 5 KOTARE DOWNS 3YO STAKES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
THE HONEY BADGER - late scratching on 22 April at 7.22 pm.
FRANCO HAMPTON - hung outwards from the 400 metres.
WHITTAKER - Stewards questioned driver S Ottley as to whether she could have made a better effort in the early stages to maintain a position behind MONGOLIAN HERO. Miss Ottley explained that ELLMERS IMAGE had not been shifted fully inwards to race against the pylons and so felt she may have been left to race three wide. She added that once ELLMERS IMAGE had taken up a position near the pylons she attempted to improve to take up that position but was beaten to the run and again had to steady. Stewards also questioned Miss Ottley regarding the manner in which she drove near the 300 metres when appearing to steady the runner with Miss Ottley explaining that the colt was striking his knee and had become unbalanced in its gait.
 
Race 6 GOODWIN CONTRACTING HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
MOMENTOUS - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home and struck pylons when in restricted room.
ONE YANKEE GINGA - broke and lost its chance soon after the start.
ANOTHER CHAPTER - held up on the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
KINGDOM COME - held up throughout the home straight.
DAIQUIRI - trotted roughly around the home turn. When spoken to by Stewards regarding his apparent lack of vigour over the concluding stages, driver R May explained that as a result of his mare breaking at its last start he was reluctant to place it under too much pressure when she began to trot roughly in the latter stages of the race. After viewing the replays Stewards accepted Mr May's explanation.
SEXY REXY - broke in the early stages losing considerable ground and again broke passing the 100 metres.
 
Race 7 DAWE CONTRACTING LTD RANGIORA CLASSIC (MOBILE) Video  Video 
SUPERFECTA - over-raced through the middle stages. The removable hood failed to activate despite the efforts of driver C DeFilippi.
CLASSIE BRIGADE - became held up for a distance near the 500 metres losing ground.
FIELD MARSHAL - Stewards spoke to driver D Dunn regarding the entire's performance after conceding its leading position near the 600 metres and weakening thereafter. Mr Dunn was unable to offer any explanation and could only advise that he had been disappointed with the horse's efforts. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities with trainer T Butt advising that blood tests will be taken in the coming days with Stewards being notified of these results. Mr Butt further advised that in his opinion despite the entire having competed in trials and workouts leading into today's race it will take benefit from the run noting that the horse was forced to do work in the middle stages of the race. Mr Butt added that in his opinion FIELD MARSHAL will improve with consistent racing and at this stage he will continue with his proposed Australian campaign.

BOOMER BAILEY - began awkwardly.
FORGOTTEN HIGHWAY - began awkwardly.
SPARKLING DELIGHT - broke briefly at the start.
A G'S WHITE SOCKS - broke briefly at the start.
TORRID BROMAC - driver R Close reported that he had dropped his whip at the top of the straight.

The start of this race was delayed by 1 minute at the TAB's request due to a false start at the Invercargill meeting.
LIGHTWORKOFIT - broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
MISSANDEI - lay inwards throughout the run home.
JAYCEEKAY - over-raced near the 1400 metres when attempting to surrender the lead to the improving MISSANDEI.
ROYAL SHINE - over-raced after improving to race outside the leader near the 600 metres.
BELLES SON - trotted roughly through the middle stages. Broke with 1100 metres to run.

LAURAGRACE - held up on the final bend.
DEBNITA ROSE - held up on the final bend.
CHAMPAGNE REIGN - lay inwards under pressure throughout the final straight.
IDEAL RULE - held up on the final bend.
SACRED ANGEL - raced wide without cover through the early and middle stages before being taken forwards to race outside the leader near the 1000 metres. Weakened on the final bend.
BORN AGAIN DELIGHT - raced wide without cover from the 1000 metres. Weakened near the 500 metres.
MIGHTY EMPIRE - raced wide in the early stages before obtaining the lead near the 1400 metres.
