Race 1 RANGIORA HRC CLASSIC DAY SUNDAY 23 APRIL TROT Video  Video 
IMRAN KHAN - trotted roughly through the back straight on the final occasion and broke passing the 600 metres.
SEA ROVER - raced roughly when being taken forwards to lead near the 2300 metres. Raced roughly throughout the run home. Raced greenly passing the 50 metres and shifted inwards abruptly contacting a tracker marker.
GOODTIME GAMBLE - broke when leading near the 300 metres.
MAJESTIC MOMENT - broke at the start.
RUTHLESS KAYLA - raced roughly in the early stages. Switched into a pace near the 2200 metres and was restrained into its proper gait losing considerable distance and its chance.
GAME COMMANDO - broke shortly after the start.
JAW D NANCY - slow in the early stages. Raced wide from the 1400 metres and tired from the 400 metres.

ASHI JETSUN - driver J Harrington was spoken to for the manner he drove near the 1400 metres when shifting outwards which contributed to the improving ASSET CONTROL being taken wider on the track. Held up on the final bend and throughout the run home.
ASSET CONTROL - Stewards questioned driver R May regarding the performance of this gelding. Mr May explained his horse had been unsuited to improving wide in the middle stages and it was his belief the horse raced best when able to be driven with a sit.
GOT A BEAUTY - raced roughly near the 300 metres.
BLACK ART - raced wide in the early stages.
REBEL REGGAEZ - raced wide from the 800 metres.
HASHTAG - removed from the unruly for future mobile starts.
DAYLIGHT ROBBERY - removed from the unruly for future mobile starts.

GAME CHANGER - Driver P Davis issued with a warning for allowing his runner to trail a sulky wheel (half carting) through the back straight on the final occasion.
SWEET AS - raced keenly through the middle stages. Improved wide and without cover from the 800 metres.
 
Race 4 ASHLEY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
THE DOORMAN - hung outwards in the score up and was a short distance out of position at the start. Raced wide in the early stages. Had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
JAY FM - over-raced in the middle stages.
MISTER SLICK - held up early stages of the run home.
BUSHIDO - raced three wide throughout.
DYNAMO - out of position at the start. This gelding is required to complete one satisfactory mobile trial. Raced roughly approaching the 600 metres and had to be steadied.
 
Race 5 OXFORD TROT Video  Video 
WANDERING STAR - locked wheels in the early stages of the original start with the breaking ANNA KATE causing that sulky to collapse. Stewards questioned driver A Lowe as to whether he could have made a better effort to avoid that breaking horse. Mr Lowe explained his gelding had raced keenly and he had been left in two minds when caught between the breaking ANNA KATE and TIME FOR DIAMONDS as to his best course. After reviewing the films and considering his explanation, Stewards deemed that no action would be taken against Mr Lowe however advised him to make a better effort to restrain should a similar circumstance arise in future. Switched to a pace approaching the 2000 metres having to be restrained losing considerable ground.
ANNA KATE - broke shortly after the start, contacted heavily by the sulky of the improving WANDERING STAR causing driver J Curtin to be dislodged and ANNA KATE to gallop free of its driver for a considerable distance. Because of this Stewards ordered the race to be stopped with all runners being vetted prior to the re-start. ANNA KATE was declared a late scratching on Veterinary advice. A post-race veterinary examination showed the mare had sustained some minor lacerations and grazing. Driver J Curtin was examined by St John personnel and cleared of any injury.
REDWOOD INVASION - hung outwards and made the first bend awkwardly. Trotted roughly throughout the final straight and was not able to be pressured by driver R Holmes.
TIME FOR DIAMONDS - broke shortly after the first start.
RED HOT POKER - broke at the re-start losing its chance.
FATAL REUNION - broke briefly after the re-start losing ground.
GIN RUMMY - driver I Cameron admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) for using his whip in an excessive manner. After submissions on penalty, the JCA suspended Mr Cameron's Horseman's Licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 20 April 2017 (4 days).
LIGHTWORKOFIT - showed poor barrier manners and made the re-start awkwardly. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Driver D Burrows admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) for using his whip in an excessive manner. After submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
 
Race 6 SEE TERROR TO LOVE AT RANGIORA SUNDAY 23 APRIL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
OPAWA MACH - checked on the bend near the 1600 metres.
HOT OFF THE PRESS - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 2.10pm.
DEBNITA ROSE - broke near the 1700 metres when attempting to maintain its position in the two wide line whilst being eased inwards by LIGHT YEAR FRANCO. After speaking with drivers C D Thornley and N Purdon, Mr Purdon was issued with and admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he had been careless at this time by failing to concede his position when required to do so. After considering submissions on penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $400.
GREEN FINGERS - checked on the bend near the 1600 metres.
GLENGARRY ROSE - checked on the bend near the 1600 metres.
 
Race 7 LONE STAR RICCARTON SIRES STAKES 2YO TROTTERS PRELUDE (MOB) Video  Video 
A false start was declared when several horses raced in restricted room and were unable to approach the gate unimpeded.
REGAL ASSASSIN - tired from the 500 metres.
QUAESTOR - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 6.51am.
ONE MUSCLE HILL - broke just prior to the start losing a considerable distance. Raced wide for a distance from the 1100 metres. Authorisation of 3rd placing being awarded to ONE MUSCLE HILL was withheld until Stewards confirmed the colt had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations in the early stages.
UNIQUE ROSE - raced greenly in the score up and was out of position at the start.
BORNTOBEASTAR - broke at the 250 metres.
SUNDEES SON - late scratching at 12.20pm on Veterinary advice.
 
Race 8 AMBERLEY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
There was a delay to the start of this race due to a TAB failure.
RUSSIAN EXPRESS - weakened in the run home after improving wide in the middle stages to race outside of the leader.
HES FAST AND FURIOUS - improved wide from the 1200 metres. Placed in restricted room over the final stages.
MIGHTY EMPIRE - when spoken to regarding the mare's improved performance, trainer J Howe explained the mare had benefited from a freshen up and trialled well in preparation for today's race. Mr Howe added that today's field represented a considerable drop in class to what the mare had been encountering and was confident of a forward showing.
SAUCHIEHALL - hung inwards and raced roughly over the final stages.
TUFFLITTLEROOSTER - had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
ARTICULIGHT - over-raced for a short distance near the 1000 metres.
NOMATTERMEE - hung inwards in the early stages of the run home and as a result became held up for a short distance.
REDMARO - unable to gain clear racing room throughout the final straight.
PLAYINGINTHESHADOWS - removed from the unruly for mobile starts.
 
Race 9 WOODEND MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GRACIE EYRE - when spoken to regarding the performance of this filly, driver S Golding reported she had over-raced throughout and had been unsuited to working hard in the early stages to maintain a forwards position. A post-race veterinary examination showed no apparent abnormalities.
MAKERS MARK - out of position at the start. Driver N McGrath issued with a warning to make a better effort in future. Raced wide in the early stages.
KING SIZE - held up on the final bend.
OHOKA JIMMY - held up on the final bend.
FRANCO TEVEZ - raced keenly and hung outwards in the score up and was out of position at the start. Continued to over-race throughout the running.
CANDERDEL - hampered in the score up and was out of position at the start.
 
Race 10 KAIAPOI MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
LIVING LEGEND - broke racing into the first bend. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.
SELENA FRANCO - hung inwards on the final bend and when being corrected shifted outwards and locked wheels with EASTWOOD CHIEFTAIN.
DON PIERRE - held up rounding the final bend. Inconvenienced near the 300 metres and had to be steadied.
EASTWOOD CHIEFTAIN - hung inwards leaving the final bend and locked sulky wheels with SELENA FRANCO.
 
Race 11 LEITHFIELD HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
ALL SETTLED DOWN - broke shortly after the start.
REGAL LOVE - slow in the early stages.
DAIQUIRI - hung inwards throughout. Broke near the 800 metres losing its chance.
DRAGON SUN - broke at the 350 metres.
YOUNG STRANGER - raced wide in the early stages. Tired from the 450 metres.

GABBY'S STAR - raced roughly leaving the final bend. Broke when having its deafeners activated near the 250 metres.
CRACKABELLA - broke at the start. Had to be steadied after 100 metres when briefly placed in restricted room.
DALNESS MAC - driver R May spoken to for the manner he shifted ground after 100 metres.
CLIVE - carried a flat tyre for the final 600 metres. Stewards will speak with driver C R Thornley in the coming days.
BOOMER BAILEY - raced wide from the 1200 metres.
