MASTER LAVROS - trotted roughly approaching the 600 metres and had to be steadied by driver M Jones. Continued to trot roughly for the remainder of the race. A post-race veterinary examination showed the gelding to have sustained a left hind leg injury. Trainer M Jones reported it was his intention to retire the gelding from racing. Driver M Jones admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that he used his whip excessively throughout the final 400 metres and the JCA imposed a fine of $450. | |
