Pre-race blood testing was carried out.

Due to the postponement of the Auckland Racing Club's meeting, the official start times for Races 1-5 were altered at the request of TAB Raceday Control. This was distributed through the appropriate channels and listed below.

Race 9 - MLT/THREE RIVERS HOTEL WYNDHAM CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
Stable representative J Dunn has informed Stewards that FRANCO CRISTIANO has undergone blood tests and an ECG following its performance at Wyndham last week with these revealing no abnormalities. Mr Dunn added that the gelding will return to workouts before resuming.

Race 1 TERRY O'CONNELL,DAVID HOWE/GOOD LUCK CAPTAIN DOLMIO (MOB) Video  Video 
YANKEE DIVA - weakened from the 350 metres. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver K Larsen expressed disappointment with the filly's effort over the concluding stages however could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
PEGASUS MERRILY - broke for a short distance at the start, then raced wide in the early stages.
MANUKA VALLEY - raced wide in the early stages prior to being improved forward to the parked position near the 1400 metres. Hung inwards through the middle stages.
LAUSANNE LASS - held up rounding the final bend and through the early stages of the home straight until near the 150 metres.
VERA MAC - got its head up and paced roughly in the score up. Hung inwards and struck several track markers near the 900 metres. Hung inwards throughout the home straight.
BLAZING VC - raced roughly when placed in restricted room between EVANGELINE FRANCO which hung inwards and TIZIANO (H Hunter) which shifted outwards to avoid the weakening PEGASUS MERRILY. Driver H Hunter was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.
PATANJALI - raced wide without cover from the 1100 metres.
 
Race 2 AON INSURANCE BROKERS GORE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ASK ME MAJOR - hung inwards at various stages during the running. Hung inwards and paced roughly near the 250 metres and continued to do so for the remainder of the home straight.
LILAC FLASH - hung inwards over the final 400 metres.
SNAP IT UP - Driver A Beck reported he had sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
LITE PERCUSSION - paced roughly passing the 700 metres when contacting the sulky wheel of SNAP IT UP (A Beck). After questioning drivers K Barclay and A Beck it was established that LITE PERCUSSION had commenced to over-race when removable gear had been activated near the 800 metres, simultaneous to there being an easing of the pace in the one-out line at this stage of the event.

HUNTER BROMAC - held up rounding the final bend.
PASS THE SPEIGHTS - balked entering the bend near the 1500 metres breaking briefly.
BOLD RULER - lay inwards entering the home straight.
 
Race 4 SBS RURAL HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
LYNETTE THE VET - raced wide in the early stages. Weakened from the 400 metres.
DENN NEE NOSE BEST - lay inwards entering the bend near the 900 metres.
KO WRECTED - broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
GRACE O'MALLEY - hung inwards throughout. Raced four wide for a distance passing the 700 metres.
RYDGEMONT MILLY - held up rounding the final bend and through the early stages of the home straight until near the 150 metres.
SUNDONS WISH - broke at the start. Trotted roughly in the early stages. Raced wide over the final 500 metres.
BLAZING UNDER FIRE - improved wide through the middle stages obtaining the parked position near the 1100 metres.
 
Race 5 PRYDES EASI-FEED SOUTHERN LIGHTS HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
EXPLOSIVE STAR - weakened from the 800 metres and was not persevered with thereafter. Stewards questioned driver J Dunn as to whether he could have made a greater effort to maintain his position behind SPOTLIGHT THE VALLEY near the 2700 metres which allowed the parked DE VITO to shift and obtain cover on the marker line. Mr Dunn explained that the gelding had trotted roughly throughout and believed it was in his best interests not to apply pressure on the gelding to maintain its position. Stewards noted Mr Dunn's explanation.
SPOTLIGHT THE VALLEY - weakened from the 400 metres.
MOMENT OF SUN - compounded from the 500 metres. Co-trainer/driver G Lee reported that the mare had been striking the sulky discs during the event and something may be amiss with the horse. A subsequent post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
DE VITO - hung inwards near the 1000 metres. Stewards questioned driver N Williamson regarding the tactics he adopted near the 2000 metres when electing to shift the gelding from a position three-back on the marker line outwards to race parked. Mr Williamson explained that the gelding had over-raced through the middle stages and felt that when shifting outwards the leading position was attainable however this did not eventuate resulting in him racing parked for the remainder of the event. Stewards noted Mr Williamson's comments.
FATHER CHRISTMAS - trotted slowly through the early stages.
KING DENNY - tangled away. Broke near the 1300 metres.
EYRE I COME - veered outwards over the final 50 metres with driver B Orange reporting that despite his efforts he was unable to steer the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slightly slow recovery rate. Stewards will follow up the recovery of EYRE I COME with trainer M Jones in the coming days.
 
Race 6 ALABAR NZ/CADUCEUS CLUB OF SOUTHLAND FILLIES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
I'MALLABOUTTHEBASE - over-raced in the early stages when challenging for a leading position with DIZZY MISS LIZZY.
ELLAQUENCE - held up entering the home straight and shifted ground inwards in an attempt to obtain clear racing room. Raced in restricted room to the inside of I'MALLABOUTTHEBASE over the final 150 metres contacting a track marker. Driver M Jones was cautioned to ensure contact is not made with track markers in future.
SHAWAMI LASS - hung outwards and raced greenly in the early stages.
IWANADANCEWITSUMBODY - lost contact with the field from the 1200 metres and was subsequently retired from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have suffered an atrial fibrillation and subsequently is stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of a clear ECG. Trainer H Hunter advised it was his intention to send the filly for a lengthy spell prior to racing next.
EXCELLENT - lay inwards and paced roughly over the concluding stages.
DIZZY MISS LIZZY - Driver B Orange reported he did not activate the removable deafeners on the filly due to having the field covered.
 
Race 7 ALABAR NZ/CADUCEUS CLUB OF SOUTHLAND AUTUMN FUTURITY (MOB) Video  Video 
AIDAN JUNIOR - weakened from the 350 metres. Trainer K Barclay reported it would be her intention to spell the gelding.
RAKAROVER - raced wide in the early stages before being improved to obtain a leading position near the 2000 metres.
LIKETHELOOK - When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer B Nicol advised the gelding had responded well to a change in its training regime and it had worked well in preparation for today's event. Driver S Walkinshaw admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) the particulars being that he used his whip excessively over the final 400 metres with the JCA imposing a term of suspension commencing on the 19th March up to and including the 30th March 2017 (3 days).
YOUNG CONQUEROR - raced wide in the early stages.
FOO FIGHTER - required veterinary clearance was received. Weakened from the 350 metres with a subsequent post-race veterinary examination revealing no obvious abnormalities. Trainer N Williamson reported it would be his intention to spell the gelding.
MAJOR VIBES - raced wide without cover from the 1000 metres.
 
Race 8 NSVETS FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SHEZACULLENGIRL - broke entering the first bend then paced roughly for a distance losing ground. Warning placed against the racing manners record of the filly. Broke near the 400 metres losing its chance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be in season. Driver N Williamson admitted a breach of Rule 867 the particulars being that he dropped his foot from the sulky footrest for a considerable distance in the final straight and was fined $100 by the JCA.
CALENDAR GIRLZ - improved wide from the 800 metres and was then forced to a five wide position passing the 500 metres.
TRENDY BROMAC - raced wide in the early stages prior to obtaining a leading position near the 1400 metres.
SOMEJOY - held up rounding the final bend until near the 200 metres.
LE VADO - placed in restricted room entering the first bend.
RAHURI BADLANDS - steadied entering the first bend when awkwardly positioned to the inside of the breaking SHEZACULLENGIRL resulting in another runner being placed in restricted room.
TACT ROUSEY - denied clear racing room in the final straight with driver B Williamson reporting he was not afforded the opportunity to activate the removable deafeners on the mare.
IDEAL RULE - driver J Dunn reported that the filly had paced indifferently through the early and middle stages.
 
Race 9 YALDHURST HOTEL NORTHERN SOUTHLAND CUP (HANDICAP PACE) Video  Video 
EARS BURNING - driver N McGrath dropped his foot briefly from the sulky footrest when activating removable gear near the 200 metres.
CAPTAIN DOLMIO - hung inwards and struck several track markers rounding the final bend.
COSTA DEL MAGNIFICO - when questioned regarding the performance driver N Williamson expressed disappointment with the entire's effort over the concluding stages however could offer no tangible explanation. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the horse with trainer B Shirley in the coming days.
TITAN BANNER - raced wide in the early stages, then was obliged to race in the parked position from the 2000 metres. Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
Race 10 NEVILLE CLEAVER FISHING MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GRACE BURNS - weakened from the 400 metres.
THE HONEY BADGER - broke entering the first bend locking wheels with ENVIOUS losing considerable ground and effectively its chance. Warning placed on the racing manners record of the gelding.
ENVIOUS - severely checked racing into the first bend when locking wheels with the breaking THE HONEY BADGER.
ROXY DALE - checked racing into the first bend losing its chance.
EAMON MAGUIRE - out of position at the dispatch when racing to the inside of RAKAROLLA. Inconvenienced racing into the first bend then raced wide for a distance until near the 1450 metres. Lay inwards under pressure over the final 100 metres.
RAKAROLLA - hung inwards in the score up placing EAMON MAGUIRE in restricted room.
BETTOR ENFORCE - held up entering the home straight until near the 150 metres.
COMPLIANT - hung inwards entering the bend near the 500 metres.
BONNIE'S KHALEESI - driver M Williamson reported he was unable to activate the sliding blinds on the mare due to the cord breaking.

ANSETT FLIGHT - raced wide over the final 750 metres.
CINDY BROMAC - Trainers G & N Hope were charged a $25 Colour Fee. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room over the final 100 metres.
I'M JIMMY JAMES - raced wide in the early stages before reaching the parked position with 1600 metres to run. Paced roughly near the 850 metres. Driver J Dunn reported the gelding had been striking the sulky discs during the running.
STEIGER - lay inwards in the early stages of the home straight.
MONGOLIAN STORM - attempted to buck early in the score up and broke in consequence. Warning placed on the mobile barrier record of the gelding. Improved wide from the 1400 metres.
GOTTA MINUTE - raced wide for a distance passing the 1300 metres.
