Driver B Norman (SAN FERMIN) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) the particulars being that he used his whip in an improper manner near the 450 metres with the JCA imposing a fine of $200.
Race 10 - MASTERLINK FOR APPRENTICESHIPS MOBILE PACE
Trainer N Williamson has advised Stewards that STATHAM will have a dynamic scope and blood tests carried out after its disappointing performance at Winton on the weekend with the results of these tests to be reported to Stewards.

Race 1PGG WRIGHTSON REAL ESTATE CROMWELL HANDICAP TROTVideo  Video 
A false start was declared when the front barrier strand failed to release impeding PEGASUS HANOVER and NOTTINGHAM K TWO resulting in a delay of 6 minutes.
NOTTINGHAM K TWO - swung sideways as the barrier strand was released and was slow to begin. Broke approaching the first bend. Placed on the Unruly for its future standing starts. Trainer G Orr advised this gelding would now be sent for a brief spell.
ARANNALEA - driver B Orange reported he did not activate the removable hood on this mare due to having the field covered.
EYRE'S A RAG DOLL - trotted roughly and lost ground on the field nearing the 950 metres.
OUR BUDD - trotted roughly through the early stages. Hung inwards rounding the first bend. Hung inwards rounding the bend near the 1000 metres striking several track markers.
HENGROEN - trotted roughly throughout before breaking near the 900 metres losing its chance.
SPRINGFIELD EYRE - weakened over the concluding stages after receiving an economical trip. Driver D Dunn explained in his opinion the mare had been unsuited by the fast natured tempo of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
HUSTLE HILL - broke shortly after the start and failed to settle losing its chance.
WAY TO GO - broke shortly after the start.
I'LDOITMYWAY - broke near the 600 metres.

TIZIANO - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
SKYLLA - raced keenly throughout and weakened from the 500 metres. Driver M Williamson was of the opinion the filly may have choked down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Co-trainer G Knight advised that it would be his intention to make gear adjustments and restrict the filly to standing start events for its future racing.
TAKEMETOTHEBEACH - weakened over the concluding stages. Had to steady when becoming awkwardly placed to the inside of CHINOOK WINDS locking wheels with LIVING GLORY.
CHINOOK WINDS - awkwardly placed to the inside of PEGASUS MERRILY entering the first bend. Raced wide in the early stages. Had to steady near the 1000 metres. Held up by a tiring runner nearing the 600 metres. Raced greenly when under pressure near the 150 metres. Driver B Barclay advised it was his belief this filly may not have backed up from its most previous start.
VERA MAC - raced wide throughout.
PEGASUS MERRILY - placed inside runners under pressure entering the first bend. Driver A Suddaby was cautioned to ensure he allows runners to his inside sufficient room when he is crossing over in future. Raced keenly when leading. Driver Suddaby advised the mare had been striking the wheel discs resulting in it over racing.
LIVING GLORY - paced roughly when improving into the passing lane. Locked wheels nearing the 150 metres when improving to the inside of TAKEMETOTHEBEACH.
MANUKA VALLEY - hung outwards throughout the score up. Held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
CHANGE IT - out of position at the candy pole and the dispatch point. Driver E Swain was cautioned to ensure he is in position at the candy pole in future.
 
Race 3NIP CROOKS MEMORIAL JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
The start of this event was delayed 4 minutes due to several runners requiring gear adjustments.
FRANCO SAXON - over raced in the middle stages. Had to be steadied passing the 1000 metres due to an easing of the pace. Held up throughout the run home.
SIMPLE PLEASURE - over raced in the middle stages. When questioned as to why he elected not to improve outwards to make a run until the 100 metres junior horseman M Hurrell with the assistance of senior horseman J Dunn advised he was mindful the mare had worked hard and raced keenly during the running and with this in mind he elected not to ease outwards when the three wide line improved to his outside earlier. Mr Hurrell further advised that the mare had failed to respond when he did activate the removable gear and when tried with the whip and in his opinion was doing its best work. Stewards accepted Mr Hurrell's explanation however advised him that should similar circumstances be presented he not leave himself open to query.
COMPLIANT - raced wide in the early stages prior to being improved forward to obtain a leading position near the 1600 metres.
GANGNAM STYLE - had to be steadied passing the 1000 metres due to an easing of the pace. Held up through the early stages of the run home.
MY RONA GOLD - paced roughly near the 1100 metres. Hung inwards severely rounding the final bend and throughout the run home.

RAKAROVER - the bit pricker was removed prior to the start due to the gelding warming up unfavourably. Inconvenienced 700 metres by a tiring runner. Held up rounding the final bend. Driver P Hunter admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that he used his whip in an excessive manner over the final 400 metres. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the JCA suspended his horseman's licence from the conclusion of racing today until the 20th March inclusive (4 days).
ASK ME MAJOR - slow to begin.
GOTTA MINUTE - driver A Beck was issued an Infringement Notice pursuant to Rule 847(3) and fined the sum of $200 for failing to affix his helmet chinstrap correctly resulting in his helmet coming adrift over the concluding stages.
VON RICHTHOFEN - broke at the start losing its chance. Warning placed on standing start record.
TED CADY - Hung inwards and paced roughly before weakening from the 700 metres inconveniencing trailing runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Warning placed on racing performance record.
BULL HAYES - weakened from the 400 metres. Driver N Williamson reported the gelding had made abnormal breathing noises during the running. Stood down by the on-course veterinarian pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination.
GO GETTA - Inconvenienced near the 700 metres by a tiring runner. Had to be steadied exiting the final bend. Held up through the early and middle stages of the run home.
TOUR DIRECTOR - held up by a tiring runner exiting the final bend.
 
Race 5ASTRA STU & JEAN JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
TWO PLY - raced keenly through the middle stages.
CABALLO BLANCO - raced wide in the early stages. Struggled to hold its position in the one/one nearing the 750 metres allowing THE HIGH ROLLER to take up the vacated position. When spoken to regarding this driver M Parker advised her intention was to maintain the back of CLIFTON TACTIC however when the pace increased CABALLO BLANCO hung inwards and failed to improve despite her effort. Taking this into account no further action was warranted. Weakened rounding the final bend, briefly locking wheels with DACHY.
ANSETT FLIGHT - commenced to over race and proved difficult for driver K Butt to control near the 1650 metres before becoming awkwardly placed to the back of MAGNETIC WATCH and breaking, losing its chance. Warning placed on racing manners record.
THE HIGH ROLLER - out of position at the dispatch. Driver M Anderson was cautioned pursuant to Rule 857(7)(g) to ensure that he maintains his position until the start point in future.
ANOTHER WINDERMERE - restrained from its allocated position prior to the dispatch. Held up rounding the final bend. When assessing the explanation tendered by Junior horseman M Purvis in regards to failing to maintain his position behind the mobile barrier, he was issued with a charge under Rule 857(7)(g). In taking this course of action Stewards were mindful of Mr Purvis driving record in relation to this rule with the JCA imposing a fine of $100.
MAGNETIC WATCH - paced indifferently throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
DACHY - hung in the score up and was unable to be in its correct position at the dispatch. Broke when avoiding the breaking ANSETT FLIGHT near the 1650 metres. Briefly locked wheels with CABALLO BLANCO rounding the final bend.
SOAPBOX - weakened from the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate and slow recovery. Trainer M Brown advised SOAPBOX would now be sent for a brief spell.

FIRST SON - tangled away.
LIKETHELOOK - tangled away.
EL CAPITAN - broke at the start.
CULLENS AVENUE - rein picker was removed prior to the start due to the gelding warming up unfavourably. Shifted inwards at the start. Raced wide through the middle stages.
SAGWITCH - broke at the start.
FOO FIGHTER - began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Improved three wide down the back straight on the final occasion before weakening on the final turn. When spoken to regarding the performance trainer/driver N Williamson advised he was disappointed with the performance however could offer no tangible excuse. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate and slow recovery. A veterinary clearance is required prior to the gelding resuming. Mr Williamson further added it was his intention to have the gelding examined by his personal veterinarian in the coming days and undertook to notify the Stewards should anything come to light which would explain the performance.
TUBBY JIM - displayed poor barrier manners.
Trainer N Williamson has informed Stewards that FOO FIGHTER has been subjected to blood tests and a scope following its disappointing effort at Wyndham last weekend with these proving clear of abnormalities. He did state that the gelding scoured following the race which may have explained the performance. Mr Williamson further advised that FOO FIGHTER had worked very well this week and he was confident of a forward showing at Ascot Park on Saturday.
 
Race 7ALABAR NZ KINDERGARTEN STAKES (MOBILE PACE)Video  Video 
ARDTOO - paced roughly and broke near the 1000 metres severely hampering a trailing runner. The near side hopple broke as a result of this gelding breaking.
ALTA SHELBY - paced roughly rounding the first bend.
TUAPEKA TRICK - raced wide in the early stages.
I'MALLABOUTTHEBASE - had to be steadied when awkwardly placed behind ARDTOO nearing the 1200 metres. Driver M Purvis advised that he was unable to restrain the filly off the breaking ARDTOO and he would be recommending gear changes prior to its next start. Severely hampered near the 1000 metres.
 
Race 8MCDONALD EXCAVATING/THE ROADING COMPANY MOBILE PACEVideo  Video 
JEREMY JONES - broke approaching the first bend checking SOMNIUM and forcing SOUTHBOUND TRAIN, BETTER THAN MOST and SUMMER WEALTH to race wider on the track. Warning placed on racing manners record.
MAIDONTHEBEACH - weakened from the 800 metres.
DELIGHT MY SOUL - held up in the early stages of the run home.
SOUTHBOUND TRAIN - forced to race wide first bend. Paced roughly for a distance passing the 600 metres. Paced roughly and broke passing the 400 metres losing its chance.
SOMNIUM - paced roughly through the early stages and then had to check inwards to avoid the breaking JEREMY JONES entering the first bend. Inconvenienced by the tiring MAIDONTHEBEACH nearing the 750 metres.
JOE BATTERS - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room through the early and middle stages of the final straight.
SUMMER WEALTH - forced to race wide first bend.
BETTER THAN MOST - forced to race wide first bend.
 
Race 9MLT/THREE RIVERS HOTEL WYNDHAM CUP (HANDICAP PACE)Video  Video 
RAKAROLLA - held up rounding the final bend.
LAMBORNE ROAD - broke at the start before settling then breaking again.
HAVINARAVUP - held up in the early stages of the run home.
GOTTA DEL - improved outwards nearing the 1900 metres forcing TITAN BANNER wider on the track. After viewing the films it was established this runner had begun its outwards movement prior to TITAN BANNER reaching its sulky wheel with no further action required. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Weakened exiting the final bend.
LUCIANO - driver B McLellan reported he had sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
FRANCO CRISTIANO - paced roughly nearing the 1500 metres when being restrained to take cover. Weakened over the concluding stages. Driver J Dunn advised he was disappointed with the effort of the gelding however could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate and a slow recovery. Trainer Mr R Dunn reported he would have a further veterinary examination including blood tests conducted in the coming days and undertook to keep the Stewards informed should anything come to light which could explain the performance.
TITAN BANNER - forced to race wider on the track near the 1900 metres after GOTTA DEL had improved outwards from its inside. Driver D Dunn reported he did not activate the removable gear on this gelding due to having the field covered.
Stable representative J Dunn has informed Stewards that FRANCO CRISTIANO has undergone blood tests and an ECG following its performance at Wyndham last week with these revealing no abnormalities. Mr Dunn added that the gelding will return to workouts before resuming.

GRACE O'MALLEY - trotted roughly and broke passing the 400 metres.
MOA BONES - hung inwards and commenced to tire from the 600 metres.
BOURBON AND DRY - broke at the start.
BOBBINS - refused to trot away with YGRITTE coming forward and locking wheels with this runner. Warning placed on standing start record.
OVERCAST - weakened considerably from the 1000 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have fibrillated. OVERCAST was subsequently stood down pending a veterinary clearance complete with ECG prior to racing next.
DUSKY EYRE - broke after 100 metres.
OCH AYE THE NOO - broke shortly after the start and continued to do so for a considerable distance.
YGRITTE - locked wheels with BOBBINS at the start losing its chance.
DE VITO - trainer/driver N Williamson reported that he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
FATHER CHRISTMAS - inconvenienced at the start by BOBBINS.
GOLDEN GATE - displayed poor barrier banners and stood on the mark as the start was effected settling a distance from the field.
