Following persistent rain during the meeting the official track conditions were downgraded to Good after Race 7, with a further downgrade to Easy after Race 8 and to Slushy after Race 9.

Race 1 PETER COCKS FOR DAIRY CYLINDERS MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
ALLAN GALLEON - broke racing into the first bend losing considerable ground. Raced roughly in the middle stages. Broke nearing the 1000 metres.
ZOEY'S GIFT - raced roughly in the early stages of the score up and started out of position in consequence.
NOTTINGHAM K TWO - trotted awkwardly in the latter stages of the score up and broke shortly after the start losing ground.
PURE EMOTION - weakened passing the 700 metres. Broke rounding the final bend.
CRUSHER COLLINS - back from the Unruly position at the start.
 
Race 2 RHEEM FOR HOT WATER CLAIMERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
COOKY - broke in the score up at the first attempt at a start with a warning placed on the geldings barrier record. Claimed from this event by ballot.
SAN FERMIN - broke in the score up checking PLAYBOY PRINCE on the second line with a false start being declared. Driver C Ferguson elected to remain in his allotted position for the restart. Warning placed on mobile barrier manners record. Weakened passing the 400 metres. Stewards spoke with driver C Ferguson regarding the manner he drove near the 300 metres when his mare shifted outwards. Mr Ferguson advised he felt the mare at this time was less than genuine in its efforts and he was mindful of the instructions issued to him by trainer B Norman to not position the mare near the pylons unless he had been able to lead. Mr Ferguson added that after shifting out his horse had taken the bit for a short distance however had disappointed thereafter. After considering the explanation of Mr Ferguson and not withstanding his horses racing manners he was issued with a warning for driving in a manner which was likely to cause interference.
NAUGHTY NAOMI - boring pole removed prior to the start due to the mare warming up unfavourably.
THINKING SMART - hampered for a short distance when weakening near the 300 metres.
CELEBRITY EASTON - Stewards will speak with driver B Norman in the coming days regarding the manner he drove near the 450 metres.
SOMNIUM - raced three wide without cover throughout. Weakened on the final bend.
TILLY PATRON - held up on the final bend and had some difficulty obtaining racing room in the middle stages of the run home.
CANARDLY REMEMBER - raced wide throughout. Improved four wide passing the 500 metres.
PLAYBOY PRINCE - claimed from this event.
PEGASUS MERRILY - held up on the final bend. Claimed from this event.
JOHNNY MACHINTOSH - held up on the final bend. Raced roughly near the 1000 metres when being restrained to shift outwards into the improving three wide line.
LIVING GLORY - held up on the final bend.
Driver B Norman (SAN FERMIN) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) the particulars being that he used his whip in an improper manner near the 450 metres with the JCA imposing a fine of $200.

BLACK ATHENA - Trainer B Shirley was issued with a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after he presented BLACK ATHENA to race with the incorrect number.
TWO PLY - raced wide without cover in the early stages. Held up on the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
BALIUS - held up on the final bend.
FIRST SON - raced wide without cover through the early and middle stages. Held up on the final bend and in the early and middle stages of the run home.
 
Race 4 HYDROFLOW FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
RNR WINDERMERE - paced roughly for several strides near the 1000 metres and had to be steadied losing some ground.
Track conditions were upgraded to Fast following this event.
 
Race 5 RWC RELIANCE WORLDWIDE CORPORATION MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
LADY'S LASS - weakened near the 400 metres. Driver T Robertson was spoken to regarding his use of the whip on a runner out of contention.
I'M JIMMY JAMES - paced roughly in the shadows of the post.
ALWAYS THE BRAVE - broke for a short distance on the bend near the 450 metres when shifted outwards.
GOTTA MINUTE - shifted outwards near the 400 metres checking ALWAYS THE BRAVE which broke for a short distance. Stewards questioned drivers S Walkinshaw and A Beck regarding this incident and after considering their explanations were not satisfied that Mr Beck was fully culpable and so took the matter no further other than to remind him of his requirements when shifting ground.
CHANGE IT - weakened near the 400 metres. Driver E Swain was spoken to regarding his use of the whip on a runner out of contention.
ALTA SHELBY - required farrier attention prior to the start. Raced roughly entering the first bend.
AMERICAN MAGIC - raced roughly for several strides near the 1600 metres when shifting outwards to improve its position.
CHAMPAGNE BROMAC - raced keenly in the middle stages. Broke briefly with 1000 metres to run after making contact with the sulky wheel of FOX GLACIER. In assessing this incident Stewards considered that CHAMPAGNE BROMAC over racing at this time was the main contributing factor and took the matter no further.
MANLY - raced greenly for several strides passing the 1200 metres.
 
Race 6 WATERWARE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SNAP IT UP - held up in the early stages of the run home. Shifted inwards near the 150 metres to attempt a marginal run. Had some difficulty obtaining racing room over the final stages.
STAR RULER - hampered near the 100 metres. Hung inwards over the final stages.
BIG SMOKE - raced wide in the early stages. Hung inwards on the final bend. Raced roughly near the 300 metres.
DELIGHT MY SOUL - held up on the final bend.
MAJOR VIBES - broke in the score up and was some distance back at the dispatch. A warning was placed on the geldings barrier record. Broke briefly passing the 800 metres when shifted wider on the track.
SOUTHBOUND TRAIN - raced roughly soon after the start and had to be steadied. Raced roughly near the 1800 metres losing ground. Stewards spoke with horseman B Barclay regarding his handling of the gelding in the early stages of the run home as to whether he could have placed his runner under more pressure. Mr Barclay explained that in all of the geldings races thus far it had at some stage raced roughly and he had learned this was less likely to occur if he could maintain some purchase on the horses mouth. He added that he was still able to encourage his runner with the whip throughout the run home despite this. After reviewing the films Mr Barclays explanation was noted.

JEDDY R YA READY - broke at the start.
MON ARCHIE WAY - broke racing into the first bend losing considerable ground.
SUNDONS WISH - driver N Williamson advised he did not activate the removable deafeners on the gelding.
TOPNOTCH EAGLE - broke with 250 metres to run.
SCARLETT LANE - broke rounding the final bend losing its chance.
THE BEST BEG - hung inwards and broke near the 700 metres losing its chance. Driver J Cox was warned for the manner he drove through the back straight on the final occasion when allowing his runner to become positioned on the sulky wheel of PRESIDENT ROYDON for some distance.
PYRAMID MUSTANG - broke at the start.
KO WRECTED - broke at the start..
Track conditions were downgraded to Good following this event.
 
Race 8 MICO PLUMBING SUPPLIES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
LONGMIRE - weakened passing the 400 metres. A post-race endoscopic veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with trainer I Jamieson in the coming days.
SANTANNA'S ROCKET - raced wide without cover in the early stages before improving forward to the lead with 1400 metres to run.
ART EXHIBIT - driver M Hurrell reported only one removable deafener had activated on the mare.
PAVAROTTI - broke with 80 metres to run when in confined quarters.
SOAPBOX - raced keenly in the middle stages.
Track conditions were downgraded to Easy following this event.
 
Race 9 BUTELINE FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
DANCING DIXIE - reported by trainer C Barron to be in foal. Weakened over the concluding stages. C Barron reported it was his intention to retire the mare.
ERIN JACCKA - broke shortly after the start losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mares mobile barrier record. Trainer M Brown advised it was his intention to try the horse with a senior driver for its next start.
HOPES AND DREAMS - raced wide throughout.
VENICE BEACH - raced wide in the early stages until being taken forward to race outside the leader near the 900 metres.
Track conditions were downgraded to Slushy following this event.
 
Race 10 MASTERLINK FOR APPRENTICESHIPS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
FLASHING ON - broke leaving the final bend.
STATHAM - raced wide without cover in the early stages. When spoken to regarding the performance trainer/driver N Williamson could only advise he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with Mr Williamson in the coming days.
BETTA GO FERNCO - broke briefly in the score up however recovered to take up its correct position at the dispatch.
RAKAROLLA - hampered in the score up however was able to take up its correct position at the dispatch.
MIGHTY FLYING DEAL - out of position at the candy pole. When questioned regarding this driver B Barclay explained he had been aware of the incident involving BETTA GO FERNCO and RAKAROLLA and felt that a false start declaration was imminent so restrained his gelding, Once he realised the start was to be effected he made every attempt to be in position by the starting point. Mr Barclay was issued with a warning under Rule 857(7)(g) for trusting to chance that a false start would be declared.
Trainer N Williamson has advised Stewards that STATHAM will have a dynamic scope and blood tests carried out after its disappointing performance at Winton on the weekend with the results of these tests to be reported to Stewards.

LEAH MAC - hung outwards leaving the final bend.
SIMPLE PLEASURE - raced keenly in the score up.
