S Dickson admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that when driving BOBBIE'S GIRL he used his whip in an excessive manner. After considering submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $250.

Race 1 PROGRAMMED PROPERTY SERVICES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
THE LEMONDROP KID - held up final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
GLENDENE - broke prior to the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on its barrier record. Raced keenly through the middle stages and had to be heavily restrained near the 850 metres when awkwardly positioned close to the sulky of BURN A DEBT.
GO PADDY - briefly hampered near the 850 metres.
OCTOBER RUSH - Trainer J Kriechbaumer was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting this gelding without the notified deafeners. Raced roughly near the 1700 metres and attempted to jump a shadow. Raced greenly near the 800 metres when directed outwards by Driver S Abernethy to avoid a shadow on the track. Weakened leaving the final bend.
BURN A DEBT - raced wide in the early stages.
SONG OF VICTORY - weakened passing the 500 metres.

LOUISLETZFLY - broke for a short distance near the 1250 metres. Weakened passing the 300 metres. Lay outwards throughout the final straight.
COMMANDO ONE - broke near the 2300 metres losing considerable ground. Broke near the 300 metres.
SPEEDY EARL - shifted out under pressure near the 200 metres.
DAENERYS STORMBORN - briefly hampered near the 150 metres.
AWA CATHRINE - began awkwardly.

PAUL'S VERDICT - held up briefly near the 200 metres.
BETTOR BE SMOOTH - broke passing the 700 metres losing considerable ground.
LUCKY JOHN - weakened final bend.
MEGATRON - held up final bend.
TURNBULLS - had to be steadied near the 1700 metres due to an easing of the pace. Hung outwards middle stages. Raced roughly final bend shifting outwards abruptly near the 250 metres losing ground.
NERVE OF STEEL - when spoken to regarding the improved performance of the gelding Trainer S Doody explained his gelding had been unsuited to the recent grass track racing and had derived considerable benefit from the application of blinds.
JACK BATES - inconvenienced near the 650 metres having to be steadied. Hung throughout the run home. Driver J Abernethy reported that because of this he had been unable to fully test the gelding.
MANIHIKI PEARL - hung inwards and raced roughly shortly after the start. Hung inwards first bend. Inconvenienced near the 650 metres having to be steadied. Hung inwards and raced roughly on the final bend losing ground.
RAZOR BROGDEN - the boring pole became unattached from the saddle and hung loose throughout.
 
Race 4 T MARKET FRESH HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
ABOVE THE REST - galloped at approximately the 700 metres and lost considerable ground.
CLIFDEN CLOWERS - galloped at approximately the 2200 metres. Improved wide on the final bend.
GREY STOKE - broke passing the 220 metres and continued to the finishing line in the incorrect gait. This gelding's fourth placing was protested by Stewards under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulation. The connections did not contest the protest and GREY STOKE was subsequently disqualified by the JCA. Driver P Ferguson advised that it was his intention to recommend the half-hopples be taken up.
 
Race 5 SPEIGHTS ALE HOUSE MANAWATU CUP (MOBILE PACE) Video  Video 
BRAINSTORMER - inconvenienced near the 750 metres.
IMAJOLLYWALLY - badly held up on the final bend and early in the run home.
EVERYTHING - over-raced near the 1000 metres and when being steadied by Driver N Chilcott made contact with the sulky wheel of BETTORS POCKET.
MAJOR CLASSIC - held up final bend.
HUDY HAXWELL - weakened passing the 400 metres.
LUSTY MAC - raced wide and without cover until near the 1650 metres when taken forwards to race outside the leader.
BETTORS POCKET - raced roughly in the early stages and had to be steadied. Weakened on the final bend. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
THOMAS MCBRIDE - Raced wide early and middle stages. Broke near the 750 metres. Driver A Poutama reported the gelding had not handled the bend.
BEYOND THE SILENCE - raced wide early and middle stages. When questioned with regards to the gelding's performance Driver and Co-Trainer L Neal reported that despite being wide for a considerable time she had been disappointed with the horse's performance in the final stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L Neal said she would report to the Stewards if anything showed up with the gelding.
 
Race 6 1ST SIGNS FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
TRIXIE BROMAC - compounded from the 500 metres. When spoken to regarding the mare's performance Co-Trainer M O'Brien explained it had been uncomfortable in the track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
STRAWB'S CHIPPIE - when spoken to regarding the improved performance of his mare Trainer S Doody explained that she had been unsuited to recent grass track racing and had worked well in preparation for this evening's race.
LETTING GO - weakened on the final bend and hung inwards under pressure.
MYCHRISTIAN - raced wide in the early stages.
SUMTHIN SPECIAL - out of position at the start.
VALMARA - gave ground passing the 600 metres. Removed from the unruly for mobile starts.
 
Race 7 ALLAN MCNEILL ACCOUNTANTS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
WAS MEANT TO BE - paced roughly entering the first bend and lost ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the final straight.
WAINGARO MARA - over-raced in the middle stages. Broke for a short distance near the 850 metres when making contact with the wheel of ARMABLUECHIPBOY. Stewards spoke with Driver D Ferguson regarding this and assisted by Senior Horseman N Chilcott he explained that his gelding had been giving him some difficulty but been left flat footed for a short distance when the pace in the two wide line increased and to prevent being eased wider on the track by KIWI TINTIN he had allowed his gelding to improve. However when he attempted to restrain after re-assuming his position behind ARMABLUECHIPBOY his horse had reacted poorly and broken. Stewards considered the racing manners of WAINGARO MARA to be the main contributing factor to its gallop however reminded Mr Ferguson that it was expected he drive with caution should a similar circumstance arise in future. Held up on the final bend and the early stages of the run home.

TENACIOUS BROMAC - weakened passing the 400 metres.
DELIGHTFUL ZEN - raced roughly in the final straight.
TUHERBS TWO - Driver J Abernethy reported the gelding to have raced erratically in the early stages.
