Race 2 THANK YOU STARTING CREW MOBILE PACE Video  Video
SHARDS HALO - Hung outwards approaching the first bend and paced roughly. When spoken to regarding the performance Driver S McNally explained he had intended to take up a more forwards position from the outset however his mare had been lethargic throughout and was not able to muster sufficient gate speed. He added that despite a winning trial on the 28th of January the horse had continued to disappoint him with her race day efforts for which he could offer no explanation. Trainer B White advised that his mare had raced well below the standard he expected and that it was his intention to now send the horse for a spell.
WOBBEGONG - Hung inwards late in the run home placing the inside runner in restricted room. Driver B Orange was spoken to advisedly regarding his use of the whip in the early stages of the run home.

STUNNIN VC - Checked near the 1100 metres. Stewards questioned Driver R McIlwrick regarding the reason he restrained near the 1800 metres which allowed THE KAIK to shift inwards and assume a covered position. Mr McIlwrick advised he was following FLUSHING MEADOWS which he felt was not at all likely to take him into the race and so felt his best interests were to follow the well supported THE KAIK who he felt was likely to take him into the race as STUNNIN VC was not able to race wide and without cover and remain competitive. Mr McIlwrick added he considered leaving THE KAIK to race wide which would have caused it to expend more energy going forwards at that stage of the race but decided it would be more beneficial to his chances to follow it forwards when it would inevitably improve later in the race. After considering his explanation and reviewing the films Stewards noted his comments.
