Race 1 ZILCO PRODUCTS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
FLASHING ON - paced roughly for a distance passing the 900 metres. Paced roughly rounding the final bend and throughout the home straight. Driver B Williamson reported that in his opinion the gelding was unsuited to the tight turning nature of the track.
RAKAROLLA - hung inwards rounding the bend near the 1300 metres, then continued to hang inwards through the middle stages.
ALL JOKES ASIDE - paced roughly and broke passing the 550 metres when racing to the outside of LAMBORNE ROAD (S Walkinshaw). Stewards questioned drivers S Walkinshaw and B Barclay (ALL JOKES ASIDE) regarding this where it was established that whilst the racing manners of ALL JOKES ASIDE had some bearing on the incident both drivers had similarly contributed. Mr Walkinshaw and Mr Barclay were advised that in future it was expected they display a higher level of care when attempting to maintain a position in future.

NAVAJO ART - lay inwards under pressure over the final stages.
VERA MAC - lay inwards near the 250 metres.
A SMART EXCUSE - held up for a short distance near the 300 metres.
CAPTAIN MANNERING - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the geldings standing start record. Paced roughly for a short distance passing the 2000 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver D Dunn stated that after breaking and settling back through the early stages the gelding had commenced to race greenly when resenting the kick back of the surface and due to this he elected to improve through the middle stages to obtain a parked position near the 1200 metres. Mr Dunn further stated that this had taken its toll on the gelding when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.
ASK YOURSELF - tangled away.
FOO FIGHTER - paced roughly rounding the final bend.
JIMMY NGA - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the run home.
SHELBY BROMAC - improved wide from the 800 metres.
 
Race 3 INVERCARGILL WORKOUTS COMMITTEE HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
MADISON JANE - hung inwards and struck a pylon near the 1300 metres.
DENN NEE NOSE BEST - inconvenienced near the 900 metres when having to be shifted wider to avoid the breaking BOURBON AND DRY.
OVERCAST - hung inwards rounding the final bend.
MADAM SPUR - inconvenienced passing the 2400 metres when awkwardly positioned behind a breaking runner. Inconvenienced near the 900 metres.
EXPLOSIVE STAR - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room through the early stages of the home straight until near the 150 metres.
GRACE O'MALLEY - hung inwards rounding the first bend and passing the 2400 metres broke losing considerable ground.
ASTRAL RULER - inconvenienced near the 900 metres.
BOURBON AND DRY - steadied and trotted roughly when becoming awkwardly positioned behind the breaking BOBBINS near the 2300 metres. Raced wide through the middle stages until obtaining cover near the 1600 metres. Broke near the 900 metres.
AGNES BROWN - broke near the 2250 metres losing considerable ground and effectively all chance.
BOBBINS - broke near the 2400 metres. Over-raced through the middle stages. Inconvenienced near the 900 metres.
 
Race 4 MCKNIGHT & BROWN MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BETTER THAN MOST - paced roughly when placed under pressure near the 100 metres.
LILAC FLASH - when questioned regarding the tactics he adopted passing the 1600 metres driver D Dunn advised that in his opinion the gelding was unable to sustain the lead at this stage of the race and he elected to restrain to obtain a trailing position. Mr Dunn added that following this LILAC FLASH had commenced to race greenly and given the racing manners of the gelding at its most recent outing he elected to improve forward to obtain the lead near the 1100 metres. Stewards noted Mr Dunn's comments.
THREE HUNDY - held up rounding the final bend.
GUNSLINGER BROMAC - broke in the early stages of the score up and was a length out of position at the dispatch.
IDEAL RON - paced roughly and broke shortly after the start. Warning placed against racing manners record.
RAKAROVER - lay inwards under pressure over the concluding stages having to be straightened.
 
Race 5 BRENDAN FRANKS FARRIER HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
DARK HORSE - Trainer/driver N Williamson reported he did not activate the removable deafeners on the mare due to having the field covered.
SPRINGBANK EDEN - when questioned regarding the performance driver B Williamson advised the gelding had felt flat throughout the running and when placed under pressure had trotted roughly.
 
Race 6 FORKLIFTS NZ 3 YEAR OLD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
EL DINERO - paced roughly rounding the final bend.
CRIME SCENE - hung outwards and paced roughly entering the first bend. Improved wide through the middle stages.
ROYAL BENGAL - raced wide in the early stages. Raced greenly passing the 1200 metres. Shifted outwards under pressure near the 150 metres. Driver M Williamson reported that he would be recommending to connections that a boring pole be applied to the colts racing gear for its next start.
THE GOVERNOR - hung inwards for a short distance near the 850 metres. Hung inwards through the early stages of the home straight and near the 150 metres was momentarily inconvenienced when racing to the outside of ROYAL BENGAL.
VENICE BEACH - improved wide from the 700 metres.
 
Race 7 ARDEN LODGE ROBIN DUNDEE CROWN MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MY CASH - commenced to weaken inside the final 600 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange advised the mare had felt indifferent in its action during the running. A post-race endoscopic examination revealed an elevated heart rate and mucous present in the airway with follow up blood tests and a course of antibiotic treatment being recommended. Stewards will follow up these results with trainers K & T Barron in the coming days.
SWEET AS - paced roughly shortly after the start. Held up for a distance passing the 600 metres when trailing a weakening runner.
MELINA LOWE - raced wide without cover in the early stages. Inconvenienced passing the 700 metres.
BETTA GO FERNCO - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
BONNIE'S KHALEESI - raced wide without cover in the early stages. Commenced to weaken passing the 700 metres inconveniencing trailing runners.
ROXY DALE - held up rounding the final bend and through the early stages of the home straight until near the 100 metres. Stewards questioned Junior Driver S Tomlinson regarding the tactics she adopted in the early stages of the home straight when electing not to improve ROXY DALE inwards into the passing lane when the opportunity existed. Miss Tomlinson explained that it was her intention to shift across ISOLA BELLA and utilize the passing lane however at the time felt that MELINA LOWE had established itself inside her horse and there was not enough room for her to improve into. Miss Tomlinson added that simultaneously DANCING IN THE DARK had improved on her outside which resulted in ROXY DALE becoming further held up. Stewards noted Miss Tomlinson's comments.
AYMAR - hung inwards and broke near the 250 metres losing its chance in the event. Warning placed against racing manners record. Driver S Ottley advised that the mare had struck itself causing it to break.
 
Race 8 ASCOT PARK HOTEL INVERCARGILL TROTTING CUP HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
EARS BURNING - broke rounding the first bend. Trainer/driver N McGrath reported the entire had been inclined to strike its sulky wheel during the early stages with the tyre puncturing as a consequence.
HEAVEN ROCKS - broke at the start and failed to settle for a considerable distance. Raced fiercely when regaining contact with the field near the 1300 metres making heavy contact with the sulky of COSTA DEL MAGNIFICO and breaking as a consequence. Warning placed against racing manners record.
MAVERICK - broke for a short distance at the start. Made the final bend awkwardly.
CHRISTEN ME - improved wide for a distance from the 1700 metres. Weakened from the 500 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver D Dunn advised from its 40 metre handicap the gelding had been unsuited to having to work hard through the middle stages to obtain a prominent position. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery with trainer C Dalgety in the coming days.
 
Race 9 SHEET METALCRAFT LTD HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
MACHJAGGER - broke at the start.
LIVE TO TELL - broke at the start shifting outwards and locking wheels with FRANK THE TANK which was severely hampered. Warning placed against standing start record.
CULLEY BACKY - checked near the 300 metres when trailing a breaking runner.
SIMPLE PLEASURE - broke at the start.
HIGHLAND GIRL - paced roughly and broke near the 350 metres checking trailing runners. Whilst in a break the offside hopple broke with this being inspected by the Stewards and found to be in a satisfactory condition. Warning placed against racing manners record. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have suffered bruising to its left front fetlock consistent with having struck itself during the running. Stewards will follow up the recovery with trainer L Pearson in the coming days.
FRANK THE TANK - severely hampered at the start when locking wheels with LIVE TO TELL.
BAILEYS ROCK - checked shortly after the start.
ACOLYTE - hampered shortly after the start. Steadied for a short distance passing the 300 metres with driver H Hunter reporting he did not activate the removable deafeners on the gelding due to being hampered.
 
Race 10 PGG WRIGHTSON MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BOLD RULER - raced wide in the early stages. Held up rounding the final bend and early stages of the final straight until shifting ground inwards passing the 150 metres to obtain clear running.
TWO PLY - improved wide from the 900 metres.
MILEHIGH MAGIC - Over-raced for a considerable distance passing the 1300 metres. Weakened from the 400 metres.
LIKETHELOOK - checked rounding the first bend when racing to the inside of ALEXY (D O'Connell) which shifted inwards. Driver D O'Connell admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) the particulars being that he allowed his horse to shift ground inwards when insufficiently clear of LIKETHELOOK. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $300. Over-raced through the middle stages.
