PAUL'S VERDICT - Driver J Abernethy advised that he had been unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the release cord coming adrift after the attachment clip broke. This gear was inspected and found to be in satisfactory order with Trainer S Mounce deemed not to be at fault. Mr Abernethy admitted a charge under Rule 869(2)(a) in that he used his whip excessively over the concluding stages. After hearing submissions as to penalty, the JCA imposed a fine of $400. | |
