Race 1 A1 DRYCLEANING & LAUNDRY / KIWI SEED MAIDEN TROT Video  Video 
REIGN ON ME - broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Again broke near the 1600 metres losing its chance.
TEHORO DAZZLE - lay inwards over the final stages.
I W MCNIK - broke at the start. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations.
GEENA'S GIRL - broke at the start.
ZSA ZIVA - broke at the start. Checked after 50 metres again breaking losing ground.
GEOFFREY P - trainer M Perriton issued with a $100 minor infringement notice for presenting the gelding without the notified removable deafeners. Broke at the start and lost its chance.
JEDI JOSH - broke in the early stages and then switched to a pace with driver K Adams unable to return her gelding to a trot losing its chance.
ROSETTA STONE - broke with 700 metres to run.
 
Race 2 MARLBOROUGH EXPRESS MAIDEN MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GOLDILOCH - hung outwards in the early stages.
FREAK LIKE ME - over raced in the middle stages when positioned to the outside of the leader. Junior Horseman J Best was questioned as to whether he could have made a better effort in the early stages to take a covered position considering the comments he made to Stewards at the horse's recent start at Nelson HRC. After considering his explanation Stewards took no further action other than to speak to him advisedly about his tactics.
BLUECHIP VERDICT - weakened passing the 600 metres. When spoken to regarding the filly's performance trainer/driver B Weaver advised it was his intention to have bloods taken in the coming days and then to re-assess the filly's racing future. Stewards will follow up the results of these tests with Mr Weaver.
SMOOTH N EASY - raced wide and without cover for a considerable distance through the middle stages.
MILLWOOD CHARITY - raced wide in the early and middle stages.
GOTTA TICKET - held up early stages of the run home. Removed from the unruly for future mobile starts.
 
Race 3 WINE WORKS MARLBOROUGH MAIDEN MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
IT'S OFFICIAL - over raced in the middle stages. Held up on the final bend.
WAS MEANT TO BE - hung outwards with 1400 metres to run briefly forcing OUT OF ACES wider on the track. Driver R Holmes was spoken to for the manner he drove at this time when shifting outwards when not entitled to do so.
OUT OF ACES - improved wide near the 1400 metres. Weakened over the final stages. When questioned regarding being taken wider at this time driver R Houghton reported he had intended to improve wide at this time and the shift outwards from WAS MEANT TO BE had had no bearing on this.
TITANIUM - raced wide through the middle stages before improving to lead with 1500 metres to run. Hung inwards under pressure leaving the final bend. Driver T Chmiel admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that he used his whip excessively over the final 400 metres. After considering all submissions Mr Chmiel had his horseman's licence suspended from the conclusion of racing today up to and including the conclusion of racing on 29 January (two days).
FORGOT TO REMEMBER - held up early stages of the run home.
 
Race 4 JOHN ROUGHAN MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
TENNYSON INLET - paced roughly in the early stages. Driver T Chmiel reported the gelding to have been striking its knees.
LIVING LEGEND - when spoken to regarding the gelding's improved performance the connections explained the horse did not back up on the second day of the Nelson HRC meeting and proved disappointing. They added that the horse was travelling well when it galloped on the first day and had been confident of a more forwards showing today.
SCOTLYNN JACK - was held up on the final bend.
HAYDEN'S MEDDLE - raced roughly on several occasions during the running having to be steadied by driver J Dunn.
LOLITA FRANCO - held up early stages of the home straight.
SAUCHIEHALL - hampered in the early stages.
DREAM TO REALITY - hung inwards under pressure throughout the final straight. The connections reported they felt the gelding had not backed up from its first day run.
THE HURRICANE - weakened near the 600 metres. When spoken to regarding the performance of his gelding trainer/driver B Weaver could only advise he had been disappointed with the efforts. A post race veterinary examination showed the gelding to have an abnormal heart rhythm and slow recovery. This horse was stood down pending a veterinary clearance which shall include the results of an ECG.
 
Race 5 INTERISLANDER HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
MUSCLES GALORE - broke at the start.
GIN RUMMY - broke a mudguard shortly after the start with driver I Cameron attempting to rectify this during the middle stages.
REDWOOD INVASION - was fractious behind the barrier.
WAR SPIRIT - was fractious behind the barrier causing a delay. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Broke with 2300 metres to run.
CLIFDEN CLOWERS - when spoken to regarding the gelding's performance driver J Morrison reported the gelding had not been comfortable in the sticky track conditions.
LADY BEATRIX BOURBON - broke at the start.
THE PRINCE - broke shortly after the start.
DESTINY JONES - hampered 300 metres after the start by galloping runners and had to shift ground outwards.

GOTTA GO YA HU - driver J Dunn reported he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
SHE'S A FLYIN - lay inwards throughout the final straight.
FRANCO HAMPTON - broke when racing around the first bend. Raced wide without cover through the middle stages.
DONEGAL CARRICKFIN - raced wide without cover in the early stages. Checked on the first bend.
LILAC REIGN - held up in the early stages of the run home.
JOHNNY WHITE - broke in the early stages of the score up and was out of position a short distance in consequence. Raced roughly and broke briefly in the early stages of the run home. When spoken to regarding this, driver S Golding reported the gelding had been uncomfortable in its gait in the easy track conditions.
 
Race 7 PETER YEALANDS WINES MARLBOROUGH CUP (HANDICAP PACE) Video  Video 
HOPEFUL HARRIET - broke for a short distance in the early stages. A final warning was placed on the mare's barrier record.
HERE WE GO AGAIN - refused to pace away and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record.
GRADUATE UNDER FIRE - driver R Houghton was issued with a warning for allowing his runner to start wider than its allocated barrier position.

CONTRACTUAL ISSUES - driver J Morrison reported he dropped his whip passing the 1000 metres.
MISS DAISY - when spoken to regarding the improved performance of this horse, driver J Dunn explained the horse had become poorly positioned on the first day due to its barrier draw. He added that the horse was unable to work in its races and so today had been able to take advantage of a front line draw to race closer to the speed. He said the horse had also taken advantage of an assessment drop back today.
LETTING GO - raced roughly entering the first bend. Weakened on the final bend.
