Selected horses were subjected to pre-race blood testing.

Soon after the start of Race 9 SMITHY left the course proper and ran within close proximity of camera people situated near the outside of the track. Stewards spoke with Club officials regarding this and it was decided that until such time a sufficient barrier could be set up no persons would be permitted to access this area whilst the horses were on the track. The Club undertook to provide such a barrier at all meetings going forwards.

Race 1 THE CAR COMPANY / NJ BUSINESS SERVICES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
LIVING GLORY - when spoken to regarding the mare's improved performance Driver C Thornley explained that the connections had made extensive gear changes from the first day and that the horse had benefited from meeting a slightly weaker field today than encountered on the first day.
SHADOWMAN - weakened passing the 500 metres.
OUT OF ACES - raced greenly at various stages throughout the running. When questioned regarding the gelding's seemingly disappointing run Driver D Dunn could only advise the horse had disappointed him. Stable representative J Dunn advised that they would give consideration to making gear changes prior to racing at Marlborough and then reassess the horse's racing career should it continue to disappoint.
CHEROKEE RED - raced roughly down the back straight on the final occasion.
JERSEY JOE WALCOTT - weakened considerably over the concluding stages. When spoken to regarding the horse's performance driver J Dunn advised the horse had raced lethargically throughout. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
 
Race 2 NELSON OTB / DAN & JOY BYRNE TROT Video  Video 
ZSA ZIVA - broke racing into the first bend.
SCARLET BROMAC - broke after 200 metres.
FIRA SUNSET - broke near the 850 metres. Again broke near the 500 metres.
GEENA'S GIRL - paced away and had to be checked by Driver R Close effectively losing its chance.
ROSETTA STONE - over raced in the middle stages. Broke near the 300 metres when held up for clear running.
PAT THE MONARCH - broke after 250 metres.
MR PRESTON - broke shortly after the start.

DONEGAL CARNBOUY - fractious behind the barriers requiring assistance from an attendant.
WESTY RANGER - reared at the start and swung outwards causing a delay. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record. Broke briefly shortly after the start. Held up on the final bend and throughout the run home, awkwardly placed close to the wheel of IDEALAGAIN nearing the 50 metres.
IDEALAGAIN - sustained a punctured sulky tyre with approx 50 metres to run.
FEAR ROCKN - broke briefly after the start.
JIMMY NGA - when spoken to regarding the gelding's improved performance Trainer/Driver J Cox explained that the gelding had taken considerable benefit from the removal of the sliding blinds.
MY NIKAYLA - slow to begin.
OLDE OAK EMMA - weakened near the 500 metres. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the filly has recovered in a satisfactorily condition. A warning placed on its performance.
 
Race 4 TOWN & COUNTRY VET MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
FREAK LIKE ME - raced keenly in the middle stages when positioned to the outside of the leader. Challenged for the lead passing the 1400 metres before weakening near the 500 metres and was distanced over the final stages. Driver J Best was questioned in regards to his tactics through the middle stages. Mr Best explained that the gelding had commenced to over race when situated in the parked position so he elected to make a challenge for the lead. When he had been unable to gain the lead FREAK LIKE ME became lethargic and he had to continue to urge the horse to keep its momentum. Mr Best further added that the gelding is not suited to doing work in its races and when circumstances permit then he will be driving the gelding with a sit. Mr Best's comments were noted.
ROCKON STYX - raced keenly in the middle stages.
CALENDAR GIRLZ - when questioned regarding the improved performance Driver C Thornley advised it had benefited from having its hopples shortened which enabled the filly to pace more fluently in today's race.
JOHNNY WHITE - out of position at the candy pole. Raced roughly shortly after the start. The connections requested their gelding now be drawn unruly for mobile starts.
BLACK ART - out of position at the candy pole. Broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
IT'S OFFICIAL - weakened near the 400 metres. When spoken to regarding the continued poor racing performance of this gelding Trainer M Gill advised that he would give consideration to making gear changes prior to racing at Marlborough and then reassess the horse's racing career should it continue to disappoint. A warning was placed on the horse's racing performance.
AVEROSS SPITFIRE - over raced near the 1800 metres.
 
Race 5 DICK SANDERS MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GOTTA CLASSIE GIRL - weakened near the 800 metres and then broke soon after when under pressure. A warning was placed on the mare's racing record. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Trainer M Stratford advised that he would be retiring the mare.
SPINNAKER - gave ground near the 500 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities and a warning was placed on its performance record. Trainer A Russell advised he would no longer be persevering with the mare as a racing proposition.
RED RANGER - was inclined to lay outwards throughout the run home.
JJ'S DELIGHT - Driver D Dunn was fined a sum of $300.00 by the JCA for using his whip in an excessive manner over the concluding stages.
FRANCO LAMAR - got its head up and raced roughly in the early stages. Weakened near the 600 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities and a warning was placed on its racing record. Trainer G Hope advised that he would be giving the gelding a brief spell as well as having blood tests taken in the coming days and undertook to advise Stewards should these reveal anything that could explain the performance.
 
Race 6 ALLAN HAHN CONTRACTING LTD HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
SOLAR STORM - broke after 150 metres losing ground. Again broke near the 1600 metres. Weakened on the final bend.
BACARDI N COKE - trotted roughly entering the final bend when under pressure.
ALVIRA HEST - broke near the 1100 metres losing its chance.
THE PRINCE - broke briefly shortly after the start.
 
Race 7 NELSON BUILDING SOCIETY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
DONEGAL CARRICKFIN - broke near the 1800 metres and raced wide for a distance through the middle stages in consequence. A final warning was placed on the gelding's racing record. Trainer D Broadhurst advised he would be adding a shadow roll to its gear for future races.
PAUL'S VERDICT - was held up passing the 100 metres and had to be steadied.
GOTTA GO YA HU - raced wide in the early stages before being taken forwards to race outside the leader near the 1600 metres. Briefly hampered near the 1700 metres.
AVEROSS BRACHOLE - was held up in the early stages of the run home.
 
Race 8 ROUTE 6 AUTOMOTIVE / RICHMOND MOTEL & HOLIDAY PARK PACE Video  Video 
SMOOTH N EASY - broke at the start with a warning placed on its barrier manners.
UNICO LEGEND - was checked at the start and was slow away as a result.
RAINY RIVER - a warning was placed on this gelding's barrier manners after it swung inwards at the start making contact with and checking UNICO LEGEND.
EYRE AGAIN - was inclined to lay inwards when racing around the bends.
ONE OFF - broke at the start.
I'M SICK OF EXCUSES - was slow in the early stages and broke when negotiating the first bend.

USAIN COLT - began awkwardly. Held up final bend.
HOPEFUL HARRIET - broke at the start. Held up final bend. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners.
IDEAL ARDEN - broke at the start.
LINTON SHARD - gave ground from near the 400 metres.
SMITHY - broke at the start and veered outwards sharply leaving the course proper for some distance. Weakened passing the 500 metres. This gelding must now trial satisfactorily from a stand prior to resuming from this start type.
HERE WE GO AGAIN - over raced in the middle stages.
FRANCO TEXAS - broke at the start. Paced roughly when improving off the back of the tiring SMITHY nearing the 500 metres.

GUNPOWDER - began awkwardly then broke losing considerable ground losing its chance. A warning was placed on its barrier manners.
RETURNTOROCKNROLL - tangled away at the start. Raced roughly on the final bend losing ground in consequence.
AQUA JETSTREAM - raced wide in the early stages. Weakened near the 500 metres. A warning was placed on the performance of this mare. The connections reported consideration would be given to retiring the mare.
 
Race 11 PGG WRIGHTSON / THE WAKA MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
RUM DELIGHT - when spoken to regarding the performance of RUM DELIGHT Driver D Dunn explained that it was his belief the gelding failed to handle the rise in the class of horse the gelding was racing today.
CMEEROCK - raced wide in the early stages. Held up throughout the run home.
SHE'S EXTREME - over raced in the early and middle stages.
FRANCO SAXON - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
