Co-Trainer T McGrannachan has advised Stewards that following its disappointing performance at Cromwell last week DACHY was found to be suffering from hopple rash which has since been treated.

Race 1 SHANE MATHESON CRUTCHING/MARK JONES RACING STABLES HCP TROT Video  Video 
JANUCCI GIRL - broke shortly after the start and failed to settle losing considerable ground.
PEGASUS HANOVER - broke at the start.
MISS COCO - trotted roughly for a short distance near the 1200 metres. Trotted roughly over the final 400 metres.
MAJESTIC PEAK - hung inwards and broke near the 850 metres, and again near the 450 metres.
SMOKEY MAC - trotted roughly in the early stages before breaking after 100 metres and was unable to be restrained into its correct gait, losing its chance.
KIWI CRUSHER - began awkwardly and broke after 100 metres.
SPRINGFIELD EYRE - broke rounding the first bend. Broke for a distance when leading near the 800 metres with driver R McIlwrick allowing the mare to improve in order to safely clear SUNDONS WISH which was established to its outside. Trotted roughly and broke passing the 400 metres.
STARLIGHT INVASION - weakened inside the final 1000 metres and was distanced over the final stages. When questioned regarding the performance driver A Beck advised the mare had felt indifferent in its action through the middle stages. A post-race endoscopic veterinary examination revealed mucus from the lungs. Stewards will follow up with trainer D McLachlan in the coming days.
EAGLE GALLEON - hung inwards through the middle stages.
 
Race 2 BALFOUR TAVERN MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
EVANGELINE FRANCO - hung outwards and broke approaching the first bend, then continued to hang outwards for the remainder of the event. Warning placed against racing manners record.
IDEAL DENARIO - paced roughly through the latter stages of the score up.
EVERLASTING LEGACY - when questioned regarding the performance driver M Williamson could only advise he had been disappointed with the horse's efforts in the final stages. Trainer T Stratford advised he will be reassessing the racing future of EVERLASTING LEGACY from his stable.
SWAP OVER - hung inwards in the latter stages of the score up. Raced wide in the early stages prior to being improved to obtain a leading position near the 1500 metres.
HEZ ONLY THE LONELY - weakened from the 500 metres.
MINI WEE VC - raced wide in the early stages.
RAZCAL ALLEY - forced wider and locked wheels with EVER READY near the 650 metres.
EVER READY - broke briefly in early stages of the score up. Broke in the latter stages of the score up when checked by SWAP OVER which had hung inwards. Authorisation of dividends was withheld until the Stewards had spoken with driver A Suddaby and trainer K Barclay regarding the start. Both stated that their pre-race tactic had been to restrain the filly in the early stages and their ability to drive the filly in this manner had not been prejudiced despite losing approximately two lengths. In assessing their submissions the Stewards were satisfied that the filly's chances had not been materially prejudiced with dividends being duly authorised and EVER READY being declared a starter. Locked wheels with RAZCAL ALLEY when being shifted wider near the 650 metres. Driver A Suddaby was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room through the early stages of the home straight.
MUCHO MACHO MAN - paced roughly throughout the score up and was out of position at the dispatch. Over-raced for a distance passing the 800 metres.
 
Race 3 KUBALA SEEDS LTD/ROBERT WILSON RACING STABLES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
TWO PLY - inconvenienced near the 300 metres. Shifted wider passing the 100 metres. Driver R Rogers was cautioned for the manner in which he used his whip in the home straight.
BLACK ATHENA - over-raced in the middle stages. Hung inwards and paced roughly for a distance near the 450 metres. Hung outwards and broke near the 300 metres locking wheels with FRANCO HUNTINGTON. Warning placed against racing manners record.
TACTICAL VC - held up for a distance passing the 400 metres.
CLIFTON TACTIC - raced wide in the early stages.
DON SEBASTIAN - steadied near the 300 metres.
ROMANITE - improved wide from the 850 metres before being forced to race five wide from the 700 metres. Hampered briefly near the 300 metres.
SOAPBOX - held up rounding the final bend until near the 200 metres then had difficulty obtaining clear racing room over the concluding stages.
BONNIE MEDLEY - broke in the early stages of the score up however recovered to fulfil its allotted barrier position at the dispatch.
FRANCO HUNTINGTON - severely hampered near the 300 metres when locking wheels with BLACK ATHENA resulting in driver N Purdon becoming unbalanced in the sulky.

MAIDONTHEBEACH - out of position at the dispatch despite the efforts of driver H Hunter.
PARTICULAR - hung outwards when being restrained entering the first bend. Over-raced in the middle stages.
VARENNA - hung outwards and had to be steadied near the 450 metres then became held up until utilising the Passing Lane near the 200 metres.
SOMEJOY - lay inwards throughout the home straight.
BONNIE JOAN - driver D Dunn reported he did not activate the removable deafeners on the filly due to having the field covered.
 
Race 5 GRINALDI LODGE /GORDON SUTHERLAND MEMORIAL TROT Video  Video 
MOA BONES - began awkwardly. Held up through the early stages of the home straight. When spoken to regarding the seemingly improved performance of the mare trainer B Norman explained the horse had benefited from the addition of blinds and had seemed to respond well to the driving change he had made today.
JEDDY R YA READY - broke on the final bend. Driver B Williamson reported the gelding had become unbalanced in its gait for a short distance.
DENN NEE NOSE BEST - broke at the start. Inconvenienced near the 300 metres when trailing a breaking runner.
OUR BUDD - broke at the start and lost its chance.
DUCHESS GRACE - trotted roughly and broke rounding the first bend. Hung inwards and broke entering the bend near the 1900 metres.
OVERCAST - inconvenienced for a short distance rounding the first bend when trailing a breaking runner. Inconvenienced near the 300 metres when trailing a breaking runner.
WAY TO GO - broke near the 2300 metres.
 
Race 6 OMALASS - THE NEW DRIED MOLASSES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BULL HAYES - when spoken to regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of his gelding trainer/driver N Williamson explained the horse had travelled lethargically throughout and in his opinion had not backed up from its Cromwell run on the 7th of January.
TOUR DIRECTOR - hung inwards on the bend near the 900 metres.
GOTTA MINUTE - held up rounding the final bend and through the early stages of the home straight. Further held up over the concluding stages.
A SMART EXCUSE - raced wide in the early stages. Held up rounding the final bend and through the early stages of the home straight.
CHANGE IT - restrained for a distance passing the 1700 metres when there was an easing of the pace. Over raced near the 1200 metres. Raced four wide from the 800 metres. Reported by trainer/driver E Swain to have been striking the sulky discs throughout.
JUST WISH - hung inwards and contacted several track markers rounding the final bend.
SANTANNA'S ROCKET - raced wide in the middle stages. Paced roughly when being forced wider on the track by NAVAJO ART (S Walkinshaw) near the 350 metres. When questioned regarding the run of his gelding driver B Barclay explained the horse had been inconvenienced near the 350 metres which had cost it some momentum. He added the horse had raced greenly at this time which he attributed to its inexperience.
THREE HUNDY - hung inwards in the early stages of the home straight. Had to be steadied near the 200 metres when awkwardly positioned to the outside of RAKAROVER.
RAKAROVER - held up rounding the final bend.
NAVAJO ART - lay inwards throughout the final straight. Driver S Walkinshaw was cautioned for the manner in which he shifted ground near the 350 metres. Mr Walkinshaw was further reprimanded for the manner in which he used his whip over the final stages.
 
Race 7 MCMILLANS FEEDS AT FARMLANDS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
EL DINERO - over-raced for a distance passing the 1400 metres.
STUNNIN VC - broke during the score up however recovered to fulfil its allotted barrier position at the dispatch. Over-raced in the middle stages. Locked sulky stays with another runner near the 300 metres.
MY RONA GOLD - raced wide in the early and middle stages prior to reaching the parked position near the 1000 metres.
BALIUS - raced wide in the early and middle stages.
MILEHIGH MAGIC - held up for a distance rounding the final bend and near the 300 metres had to be restrained when awkwardly positioned behind TAKITIMU EXPRESS. Held up and unable to obtain clear running for the remainder of the event going to the line untested.
TAKITIMU EXPRESS - over raced in the middle stages. Locked sulky stays with another runner near the 300 metres.
JUSTAN'S SISTER - inconvenienced during the middle stages of the score up.
BAILEYS KNIGHT - hung inwards when being improved passing the 500 metres.
 
Race 8 HOUSE OF TRAVEL LAKERS SUMMER CUP (HANDICAP PACE) Video  Video 
FLASHING ON - paced roughly on numerous occasions throughout the running. Driver B Williamson advised that the gelding had been unbalanced rounding the bends throughout
ROBS IDEAL - when questioned regarding the performance driver C Ferguson advised that the gelding had again proved disappointing and he could offer no tangible explanation. Mr Ferguson added that it would be the stable's intention to freshen the gelding.
 
Race 9 NORTHERN TAVERN/SOUTHLAND S.B.A. MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
PANTASTIC - weakened from the 600 metres and was not persevered with thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
WOZNIACKI - held up in the early stages of the home straight.
ULTIMATE DESIRE - raced wide in the early stages. Hung inwards and struck several track markers rounding the final bend.
RR SAND DOLLAR - raced wide in the early stages until near the 1000 metres.
LAYTONS LASS - broke near the 750 metres. Stewards questioned driver B Barclay in relation to this. Mr Barclay advised that initially he had attempted to use his positional advantage to shift LEAH MAC wider however his runner had been slower to react than he had anticipated and because of this became awkwardly positioned to the inside of LEAH MAC with him having to restrain the mare. He added that when doing so the mare had raced fiercely and soon after made contact with the outside sulky wheel of WOZNIACKI which caused his mare to break. After considering his explanation and reviewing the films it was determined that the racing manners of his horse had contributed to this incident and accordingly no action was considered necessary.

MARTIN MCGUINNESS - inclined to hang inwards rounding the bends throughout..
TARTAN TRILOGY - paced roughly when angling wider on the track near the 350 metres.
LAMBORNE ROAD - paced roughly during the score up and was out of position at the dispatch. Improved wide from the 850 metres.
