Selected horses in today's programme were subjected to pre-race blood testing.

A selection of drivers were required to supply samples of breath for the purpose of alcohol analysis.

A change of trainer notification was received for BENICIO (Race 10) after acceptance time to Mrs L Jones.

Driver A Fitzgerald admitted a breach of Rule 864(2)(e) in that he failed to activate the hopple shorteners on HIGHVIEW ILLUSION with the JCA imposing a fine of $150. Mr Fitzgerald was also cautioned for failing to report the non activation of this gear at the earliest opportunity.

SAXON ROSE - held up on the final bend.
MONARCHY PRINCESS - the connections advised the mare would be racing in season. Broke near the 1000 metres.
PEGASUS TIME - slow in the early stages. Broke after 200 metres.
LANDORA'S LASSIE - trotted roughly near the 1800 metres.
BRYLIN ROSE - trotted roughly in the run home.
BRITE N LOVELY - broke briefly entering the first bend. Weakened near the 400 metres.
TOPNOTCH TITAN - broke near the 900 metres.

GOT A BEAUTY - broke at the start and got back as a result. Paced roughly at various stages throughout the event.
DIOS DEL FUEGO - raced wide from the 1000 metres and weakened on the final bend.
MAGIC BLAZE - held up in the early stages of the run home.
HIGHVIEW JUSTICE - raced wide in the early stages. When spoken to regarding the gelding's performance, driver D Dunn explained his gelding had been unsuited to the dead condition of the track and racing in the open throughout.
ALGRANCO ALBYONE - late scratching at 7.32am on veterinary advice.

IMRAN KHAN broke after 200 metres.
WHATABOYZ - was inclined to lay outwards over the final stages.
OPAWA MAJESTIC - weakened on the final bend.
ACE COMMANDER - improved wide and without cover from the 700 metres. Trotted roughly throughout the running and had to be steadied late. Driver J Cox advised he did not believe the gelding had handled the dead nature of the track.
SHEER CLASS - slow to begin. Broke near the 500 metres.

AZALEA - the near side number hung loose during the running. The removable deafeners failed to activate due to the cord becoming entangled. When spoken to regarding the performance, driver H Jerard could only advise she had been disappointed with the mare's effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
ALL BLING - held up for clear racing room rounding the final bend.
MAC TODDY - held up for clear racing room rounding the final bend.
SACRED ANGEL - out of position at the candy pole. Driver R Houghton admitted failing to have the filly in position at this point and was fined $100.
LIVING GLORY - the required veterinary clearance was received. Raced keenly in the early stages.
CORENA LEA - hung inwards through the early stages of the run home.
JANUARY JONES - broke in the score up and was slightly out of position at dispatch.

SHADOW GALLEON - broke at the start. Gave ground from the 600 metres.
FREE BIRD - broke on the first bend losing its chance.
GEE UP NEDDY - broke nearing the 300 metres.

CARBONADO - held up by tiring runner rounding the final bend.
LING ROWL - weakened passing the 400 metres.
WOODLEA SHAWN - tired from the 350 metres.
PALEFACE SIOUX - broke in the score up and was out of position at dispatch.
PAY ME JIMMY - broke in the score up losing considerable ground. Raced greenly and ran up the track through the early stages and again throughout the run home. This gelding has been stood down pending one satisfactory trial. It was advised that gear changes would be made prior to resuming.
JUNIOR - held up rounding the final bend.
MY WEE MAN - raced wide through the early stages and had to be steadied when pacing roughly.
FLYIN OE - inconvenienced shortly after the start.
BOULTS ON FIRE - raced wide through the middle stages. When spoken to regarding the run of this horse, driver J Cox advised the gelding was not suited to racing on the grass track with flip flop shoes and that if the gelding races on the grass again they would consider making changes to the shoeing.
 
Race 7 WINEMAKERS WIFE HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
MICKY GEE - crowded for racing room early stages. Held up on the final bend and early stages of the run home. Raced roughly near the 300 metres when awkwardly positioned close to the sulky of the weakening HOTDIGGETTYCULLEN.
HOTDIGGETTYCULLEN - shifted inwards early stages crowding inside runner. Weakened from the 350 metres and paced roughly when exiting the bend.
JULIA LADY - late scratching at 7.58am on veterinary advice.
CAESAR'S QUEST - broke briefly at the start. When spoken to regarding the gelding's improved effort, trainer J McDermott advised that he had made gear changes prior to its last start and the gelding had continued to train well leading up to today's assignment.
IT'S ALL OVER NOW - raced wide and without cover from the 800 metres.
BUZKIL - checked at the start and broke losing ground.
DREAMY MCSTEAMY - shifted in at the start checking inside runners. A warning was placed on the gelding's standing start record.
HARD DAYS NIGHT - broke at the start. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
AUGUSTA(AUS) - inconvenienced in the early stages losing ground.
 
Race 8 ANDREW STUART RACING STABLES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GOODLOOKIN CHICK - contacted pylons which became displaced entering the first bend. Had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
ATCHOO - broke racing into the first bend losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing record.
BUCKEYE - hampered on the first bend and had to shift wider.
RED RIVER LOCHEE - held up final bend and through the early and middle stages of the run home.
STOMPEM - hung inwards and lost ground when negotiating the course crossing.
ALL ABOUT HENRY - paced roughly entering the first bend when inconvenienced by a dislodged pylon.
MYIDEALSON - weakened on the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance, driver J Cox advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. He further advised that the gelding would no longer be persevered with from their stable. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
CANNDEW - late scratching after starting previously on the programme.
VOLATILE LAVRA - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home.
 
Race 9 RANGIORA CLASSIC RACEDAY 23RD APRIL 2017 TROT Video  Video 
A false start was declared after the barrier strand failed to activate correctly.
TIME FOR DIAMONDS - hampered on the final bend and had to shift wider.
TOTAL EXPOSURE - raced wide in the early stages.
GIN RUMMY - over-raced in the middle stages.
ROLLIN THUNDER - broke near the 300 metres when inconvenienced by LIGHTWORKOFIT.
IDLE BOYS - raced wide and without cover in the early and middle stages.
MASSIVE METRO - broke near the 200 metres when held up for clear running.
PRECIOUS PET - trotted roughly when placed under pressure near the 100 metres and was unable to be driven out with any vigour from this point.
WE'LL MEET AGAIN - had to steady when inconvenienced near the 300 metres. Held up early stages of the run home.
LIGHTWORKOFIT - made the course crossing awkwardly. Improved four wide from near the 1000 metres. Broke near the 350 metres.
 
Race 10 YEAR OF THE ROOSTER MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GIVEMATASTEOFKIWI - held up on the final bend.
ONE BIG FELLA - challenged DANA DUKE for the lead nearing the 1200 metres for a distance. Gave ground exiting the final bend. Stewards questioned driver N McGrath regarding his tactics at this stage of the race with Mr McGrath advising that he observed D Dunn attempting to surrender the lead however the more pressure he placed on his horse the keener DANA DUKE had become. Mr McGrath further added that once he elected to cease in his challenge, his horse had become keen.
DANA DUKE - ran off in the preliminary damaging the sulky. There was a delay to the start while the sulky was replaced. The gelding underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Over-raced in the middle stages when attempting to surrender the lead to the improving ONE BIG FELLA from the 1200 metres. Driver D Dunn was spoken to in regard to this. Mr Dunn advised that he had intentions to surrender the lead however his horse over-raced in his attempt to restrain so he elected to maintain his position in the lead.
BANZIE - made the course crossing awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages.
