Pre-race blood testing was carried out.

Track conditions were downgraded to Easy following Race 3 with a further downgrade to Slushy following Race 4. Due to the prevailing track conditions, mudguards were advised to be worn for the remainder of the programme.

Race 4 was delayed approximately 12 minutes after the mobile barrier vehicle was unable to clear the field necessitating a false start to be declared. Following discussions with Starter B Ward, the decision was made that for the remainder of the programme moving starts be applicable.

Race 1 - BISHOPDALE/BUSH INN TABS & TAVERN HAREWOOD MOBILE PACE
Trainer M Stratford has advised Stewards that following its disappointing run at Omakau REGAL SUZY was found to be suffering from dehydration. This has since been treated with Mr Stratford expecting a forward showing from the mare at Roxburgh today.

Race 1 BISHOPDALE/BUSH INN TABS & TAVERN HAREWOOD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
REAL SOUTH - driver A Edge dropped his foot from the sulky footrest near the 300 metres and left it down for the remainder of the event when using his whip. Driver A Edge admitted a charge of improper use of the whip pursuant to Rules 869(2)(a) and 867 in accordance with the HRNZ whip guidelines.After a period of deliberation the JCA amended the charge to a breach of Rule 867 only with Mr Edge being fined $100 by the JCA.
REGAL SUZY - broke near the 750 metres checking FRANCO CALIPH and THE CHARGING MOA with CAESAR ROCKS being inconvenienced. Stewards questioned drivers M Stratford (REGAL SUZY), P Cook (BETTOR BACKIM) and J McDermott (THE CHARGING MOA) regarding the breaking of REGAL SUZY near the 750 metres. It was established that simultaneously to driver M Stratford attempting to shift REGAL SUZY outwards BETTOR BACKIM had lay inwards on the apex of the bend resulting in REGAL SUZY contacting the sulky of this runner and breaking. After hearing from the drivers and viewing the available footage Stewards were unable to apportion blame onto any one horse or horseman and no further action was warranted.
BETTOR BACKIM - raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres. Hung inwards for a distance near the 800 metres.
BEST DEFENCE - improved wide from the 1500 metres prior to obtaining the parked position near the 1200 metres.
THE CHARGING MOA - broke near the 600 metres.
REDMARO - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer/driver G Cook advised the gelding had responded well to being driven in a more conservative manner today.
 
Race 2 MACCA LODGE/MARSH'S HONEY/MCINTYRE FLANNERY & TAIT TROT Video  Video 
PEGASUS HANOVER- broke shortly after the start shifting inwards and checking JANUCCI GIRL.
SMOKEY MAC - broke shortly after the start losing its chance. Placed on the Unruly for future standing start events at the request of trainer B Gray.
PRINCE GEORGE - hung inwards and broke approaching the 400 metres. Authorisation of dividends was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when breaking near the 400 metres.
JANUCCI GIRL - broke when taking evasive action to avoid a breaking runner shortly after the start. Broke near the 750 metres.
MR TASSLE - broke at the start. Broke near the 1200 metres.
PYRAMID MUSTANG - broke shortly after the start.
 
Race 3 REMARKABLES ORCHARD/NEW WORLD ALEXANDRA MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GABBY'S DELIGHT - held up rounding the final bend.
MISS WAIKIWI - shied at the winning post on the first occasion forcing LIS AMORE wider on the track. Weakened passing the 300 metres and shifted inside track markers passing the 200 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver A Suddaby advised the filly was not suited by the prevailing track conditions and in his opinion may be better suited to being driven with a sit. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no clinical abnormalities. Driver A Suddaby was cautioned to ensure his sulky does not protrude inside track markers.
LIS AMORE - inconvenienced when forced wider on the track passing the winning post on the first occasion.
SHEEZUS - raced wide in the early stages. Held up rounding the final bend when trailing a weakening runner.
ART COURAGE - declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 12:10pm.
PARTICULAR - lay inwards under pressure through the early stages of the home straight.
 
Race 4 van der VOORT FAMILY/HARLIWICH HOLDINGS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
A false start was declared when the mobile barrier lost traction just prior to dispatch. The mobile barrier was tested at a slower speed however again had traction concerns resulting in the decision to utilise a moving start for this event. There was a subsequent delay of approximately 12 minutes to the start of this event.
TOUR DIRECTOR - driver N Williamson admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) the particulars being that he used his whip in an excessive manner over the final 400 metres and after hearing submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
KEEPOVER - weakened over the final 400 metres.
LILAC FLASH - blinds removed prior to the restart when proving fractious at the start point. Improved wide passing the 1300 metres. Paced roughly over the concluding stages then broke shortly after the finishing line. Authorisation of dividends was withheld until Stewards were satisfied that the gelding was in its correct gait when reaching the finishing line.
TRENDY'S BAD GIRL - Driver B Williamson became unbalanced in the sulky near the 1500 metres when racing to the outside of SUPREME BANNER. Over-raced for a distance passing the 1200 metres when being restrained.
BLAZING VC - raced wide without cover over the final 1000 metres.
THINKING SMART - broke near the 900 metres when awkwardly positioned behind FEAR XCHANGE.
FEAR XCHANGE - hung outwards and paced roughly entering the bend near the 900 metres.
SUPREME BANNER - hung outwards abruptly near the 1500 metres and contacted the sulky of TRENDY'S BAD GIRL.
 
Race 5 GRAND TAVERN/AON INSURANCE/DANIEL BATH CONTRACTING MOB PACE Video  Video 
GRACEY LACEY - held up with 400 metres to run.
LADY'S LASS - weakened from the 300 metres.
OKAINS BAY - broke during the latter stages of the score up. Broke near the 1300 metres. Raced wide on the bend with 1200 metres to run. Driver M Williamson reported the mare was never comfortable in the track conditions encountered today.
PORT DELIGHT - driver D Dunn reported he did not activate the removable deafeners on the mare due to having the field covered.
CHANGE IT - raced wide without cover through the early and middle stages before improving to the parked position near the 1600 metres .
NORTHVIEW BONNIE - weakened inside the final 400 metres. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Barclay advised the filly found the prevailing conditions very testing for its debut outing.
TIZIANO - raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres.
SOLENTO - hung outwards rounding the bend near the 900 metres and broke shortly after.
EVERLASTING LEGACY - hung inwards rounding the bend near the 900 metres. Cleared from Unruly for future mobile starts.
 
Race 6 SGT DAN'S STOCKFOODS HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
PRETORIUS - commenced to weaken from the 500 metres.
DUSKY EYRE - improved wide from the 600 metres.
MR MAJESTIC - broke at the start losing its chance.
PLAYBOY'S BROTHER - trotted roughly and broke passing the 400 metres.
STARLIGHT INVASION - commenced to weaken from the 700 metres.
HOLDON TOYASPURS - the near hind bandage came adrift on the gelding during the early stages. Trainer M Prendergast was issued with a Minor Infringement Notice pursuant to Rule 864(2)(d) and fined $100 for failing to affix a bandage so as not to come adrift.
DE VITO - broke at the start. Authorisation of dividends was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when breaking at the start.

MISS STELLA - weakened from the 300 metres.
HEZ ONLY THE LONELY - broke at the start. Weakened from the 450 metres.
JUST WISH - broke with 200 metres to run losing its chance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
MILLWOOD CHARITY - broke at the start.
GET REAL - broke briefly at the start.
 
Race 8 PETERS GENETICS ROXBURGH CUP (HANDICAP PACE) Video  Video 
LEAH MAC - broke at the start.
AMERICAN SPIRIT - improved wide from the 600 metres. Lay outwards and paced roughly over the concluding stages.
RONNOCO - weakened from the 600 metres.
ROBS IDEAL - when questioned regarding the performance driver C Ferguson expressed disappointment with the geldings effort over the concluding stages however could offer no tangible explanation.
MOSSDALE CONNER - broke at the start. Held up rounding the final bend until near the 200 metres.
 
Race 9 TRANSWORLD PACE Video  Video 
CABALLO BLANCO - broke at the start and failed to settle losing its chance.
ROYAL BENGAL - tangled briefly at the start.
FERN FEVER - steadied passing the 600 metres when awkwardly positioned behind DON SEBASTIAN.
GLENSTONE - weakened from the 400 metres.
CRIME SCENE - raced wide without cover in the early stages until near the 2000 metres with the gelding inclined to hang inwards when reaching the parked position.
SOAPBOX - paced roughly near the 1900 metres.
TAKITIMU EXPRESS - lost contact with the body of the field passing the 600 metres and was not persevered with thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
JERRY FITZ - late scratching on veterinary advice at 10:30am.
TUBBY JIM - improved wide from the 700 metres

BREAK DANCE - broke at the start slightly inconveniencing DISSOLUTION.
MARAT SAF FINN - driver C Barron momentarily dropped his foot from the sulky footrest on two occasions in the home straight.
AVEROSS RUSTLER - raced fiercely near the 1200 metres.
DISSOLUTION - slightly inconvenienced at the start by breaking runner.

Drivers were questioned regarding a shadow on the track at the winning post and advised they were content to drive in the event.
ANNIE FITZ - weakened on the final bend.
PANTASTIC - broke in the score up checking second line runners obliging a false start to be declared. Driver D Dunn elected to maintain his allotted position for the restart.
FLORETA - improved wide from the 600 metres and when placed under pressure was inclined to hang inwards.
MOONDYNE JOE - broke at the start. Weakened from the 400 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off-fore consistent with having struck itself when in a break.
MAGNETIC WATCH - held up rounding the final bend and throughout the home straight.
LIVE TO TELL - late scratching on veterinary advice at 5.05pm.
JUST SAY GO - held up by a weakening runner rounding the final bend until near the 200 metres.
ROYAL JESTER - raced wide without cover in the early stages.
