Race 1 GRAEME & JOAN MCMASTER PACE Video  Video 
GOT A BEAUTY - was retired from the race near the 1100 metres with a punctured sulky tyre.
DONEGAL CARNBOUY - broke at the start with a warning being placed on its barrier record due to its previous indescretions from a standing start. Hung inwards exiting the final bend placing OPAWA MACH in restricted room which had to be steadied.
OPAWA MACH - broke at the start. Had to be steadied exiting the final bend.
PALEFACE SIOUX - broke at the start.
DALI'S MASTERPIECE - broke at the start. Over raced in the middle stages. Hung inwards rounding the final bend under pressure.
RETURNTOROCKNROLL - broke at the start.
SUPREME HARMONY - struck several pylons when negotiating the first bend and rounding the final bend with Driver S Ottley cautioned to ensure she takes all available measures to avoid this in the future.
 
Race 2 ADAMS CONSTRUCTION TROT Video  Video 
ARDITI - trotted roughly in the home straight.
WAR SPIRIT - broke shortly after the start. Broke near the 400 metres.
BRITE N LOVELY - Driver I Cameron was dislodged from the sulky after the sulky seat came adrift with the mare being retired from the event. Trainer I Cameron was fined the sum of $100 for failing to affix the sulky seat so as not to come adrift.
RONALD J - trotted roughly and broke passing the 100 metres and continued on in a gallop across the finishing line. A protest was lodged into the third placing being awarded to this gelding alleging it was in breach of the breaking horse regulations. After viewing the films the connections did not contest the protest with the JCA subsequently disqualifying RONALD J from third placing. RONALD J was subjected to a post race Veterinary examination after returning to the stable enclosure with a nasal discharge and was subsequently stood down pending a Vet clearance.
LORD ROYDON - stood on the mark. Broke near the 2100 metres. Gave ground rounding the final bend with a subsequent Veterinary examination revealing no obvious abnormalities.
LITTLE MISS - broke after 100 metres.
OPAWA MAJESTIC - broke near the 500 metres.
REIGN ON ME - struck pylons rounding the final bend with Driver D Dunn being cautioned to ensure he takes all available measures to avoid this in the future. Broke passing the 200 metres.
ROSETTA STONE - inconvenienced shortly after the start and broke,settled back into a pace and had to be further checked into its correct gait with it losing its chance.
SPOTS GOLD N GIRL - was slow through the early stages.
SUNNY GLENIS - lay outwards over the concluding stages.
MICHELLE - displayed poor barrier manners and was slow to begin. Broke after 100 metres losing its chance.

LOLITA FRANCO - broke at the start.
SHARK ATTACK - became unsettled when addressing the barrier. Tangled briefly at the start.
MIRANDA CULLEN - refused to come into position unsettling several runners. Stood on the mark as the start was effected losing all chance. The mare will now be drawn unruly for its future standing starts.
SMOOTH MARA - paced roughly nearing the 1300 metres.
OLDE OAK EMMA - broke at the start.
NATASHA FRANCO - broke at the start.
SHADOWMAN - became unsettled when addressing the barrier. Raced greenly early stages.
WARLOCH - became unsettled when addressing the barrier. Broke at the start.
AMERICAN ALICE - broke at the start.
BORN AGAIN DELIGHT - became unsettled when addressing the barrier. Reared as the start was effected and galloped away.

SCOOB OPERATOR - Driver R Anderson defended a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that he used his whip excessively over the concluding stages. During the JCA hearing Mr Anderson requested to change his plea to guilty and after hearing the submissions on penalty the JCA suspended his horseman's licence from the conclusion of the Reefton Trotting Club's meeting on 30 December 2016 up to and including the Nelson Harness Club's meeting on 15 January 2017. (Four race days).
HAPPY STYX - raced wide from the 750 metres before giving ground on the final bend.
FRANCO LAMAR - broke at the start for a considerable distance with a warning being placed on its barrier record. Tired from the 450 metres. A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
CHASING DREAMS - raced keenly before being improved outwards from the trailing position to sit outside the leader nearing the 1500 metres. Gave ground on the final bend. When questioned in regards to the tactics Driver P Davis adopted when improving out of a favourable position to race in the open Mr Davis advised that the gelding had started to over race and make respiratory noises and in his opinion was in the process of choking down. Due to this he felt in the interest of safety his best option was to improve outwards in an attempt to have the horse relax. Mr Davis added that this was the reason the gelding failed to finish the race off in a competitive fashion.
GREEN FINGERS - broke passing the 900 metres.
FRANCO TMICK - broke in the score up settling prior to the start point. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
IT'S OFFICIAL - tired over the concluding stages.
 
Race 5 PROPERTY BROKERS WESTPORT MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CLARENDON FALCON - held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the home straight.
CHEROKEE RED - paced roughly near the 600 metres. Made the final bend awkwardly. Driver J Dunn advised that this was due to the gelding hitting its knee.
TOM RULE - broke in the score up and was unable to take up its allocated position by dispatch. A warning was placed on its barrier record. Raced greenly early stages losing ground with the rest of the field.
MASTER JORDY - reluctant to leave the pre race circle after displaying poor barrier manners with a warning placed on its barrier record. The near side number hung loose during the running. Driver C Markham admitted he used his whip excessively over the concluding stages. The JCA suspended Mr Markham's horseman's licence from the conclusion of the Reefton Trotting Club's meeting on 30 December 2016 up to and including the Nelson Harness Club's meeting on 15 January 2017. (Four race days).
TINTED BOYZ - commenced to tire on the final bend.
IREBY MEG - Driver C Hunter reported that only one deafener had activated.
THE JANDEL MACHINE - broke in the score up and unable to take up its allocated position at dispatch point. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the gelding. Over raced in the middle stages.

MIDFREW TARPEDIEM - was held up on the final bend.
FLAMBOYANT - weakened on the final bend.
GOTTA CLASSIE GIRL - broke at the start. Broke near the 1300 metres.
SPINNAKER - broke after 150 metres.
ALL NUTS N BOLTS - paced roughly through the early stages and was then hampered after 150 metres.

BRONZE OVER - broke at the start wanting to shift up the track.
SHILLELAGH - held up final bend.
JOHNNY EYRE - shifted up the track a considerable distance throughout the run home. Driver S Ottley admitted a breach of Rule 869(4) and the home straight regulations in that she failed to maintain as straight a course as possible in the run home with the JCA imposing a fine of $300. Miss Ottley also admitted using her whip in an excessive manner from the 400 metres with the JCA suspending her horsewoman's licence from the conclusion of the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting on 31 December 2016 up to and including the Timaru Harness Racing Club's meeting on 6 January 2017. (Three race days).
TAKE AFTER ME - broke for a considerable distance at the start. Checked near the 900 metres.
HERE WE GO AGAIN - checked near the 900 metres. Driver C Thornley advised the removable deafeners failed to activate due to becoming entangled.
BUSTER BRADY - paced roughly entering the first bend when being restrained.
ARCANO - broke at the start shifting up the track.
BURN OFF - broke passing the 900 metres checking the trailing runners with a warning being placed on the racing record of the gelding.

TRIAL SEPARATION - broke briefly when negotiating the first bend. Gave ground rapidly from the 600 metres.
CLIFDEN CLOWERS - tired on the final bend.
MEDUSA - trotted roughly and broke exiting the final bend. Trainer/Driver K Cameron advised that the mare had been boxed upon arrival to the meeting and it was his intention to have the mare trained from the paddock prior to the second day.
ROYAL SHINE - broke nearing the 450 metres.
 
Race 9 BULLER REFRIGERATION & ELECTRICAL MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BONTZ - broke racing into the first bend losing its chance with a warning placed on its racing record.
EARTHQUAKE - gave ground from the 400 metres. A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Driver D Dunn advised the gelding raced lethargically after pacing roughly when negotiating the course crossing and proved disappointing. Stewards will follow up the recovery of this gelding prior to the second day.
JACKALACK SUE - broke briefly nearing the 900 metres.
SHELLY ANN - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Broke near the 1900 metres losing all chance with a further warning placed on its racing record.
MIDNIGHT FLYER - paced roughly nearing the 600 metres.

EXTREME SPARK - ran sideways at the start and broke for a distance.
CANNDEW - was a late scratching after starting previously on today's programme.
ZENA MAC - was held up in the early stages of the run home.
GAME CHANGER - was held up entering the home straight.
LIS RULZ - broke at the start.
WAIHEMO ART - broke shortly after the start.
SAILS - Driver D Dunn was cautioned for looking around unduly through the home straight with a lap to run.
