Trainer M Jones has advised Stewards that REAL TORQUE has shown no ill-effects from its run last week with blood tests revealing no abnormalities. Mr Jones further advised that the mare has had a quiet week and will race in a very fresh state tonight.

THREE KISSES - checked at the 950 metres.
NORTHVIEW HUSTLER - raced greenly under pressure and shifted out near the 100 metres.
LERATO - checked at the 950 metres.
POSITANO - raced keenly when being restrained to hand up the lead to NORTHVIEW HUSTLER near the 1600 metres. Paced roughly passing the 1000 metres before being taken down onto the infield and was retired from the event. Driver T. Herlihy advised that the gelding had commenced to pace roughly before breaking and that he elected to shift down inside the marker pegs for safety reasons. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality. A warning was placed on this gelding's racing manners record. Co-trainer F. Cooney advised that he would be having blood taken from POSITANO and would advise Stewards should anything untoward surface.
VAMPIRO - checked at the 950 metres.
READY TO FIRE - broke in the early stages of the score up but was in position prior to the start.
CIRCLES - inconvenienced momentarily passing the 100 metres.
JUDE'S GEM - checked at the 950 metres.
COBRA BANNER - lay out throughout the run home.
MASTER GEORGE - inconvenienced near the 100 metres.

VAN MARA - broke at the start and settled towards the rear.
MINSTREL BOY - late scratching at 7.20 pm on veterinary advice after being injured when being unloaded upon arrival on course. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance is required prior to the gelding resuming.
MONGOLIAN STORM - broke at the start and settled at the rear.
FLEETING GRIN - Driver P. Ferguson advised that the near side sliding blind failed to activate.

NEIGHLOR - broke in the early stages of the score up but was in position prior to despatch.
RARIZA - raced three wide from the 1400 metres.

MONNAY - Trainer T. Vince was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the gelding without the notified blinds. No claims were lodged.
IL PIRATA - broke approaching the 400 metres losing all chance.
HIGHLAND STAR - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
COMMANDER PARIS - checked near the 400 metres.
HARRIET OF MOT - broke on the first turn losing all chance.
 
Race 8 STREAMLINE FREIGHT MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
LADY BELLISSIMO - broke shortly after the start losing all chance and was retired from the event. Whilst in the break a hopple middle carrier came adrift. A warning was placed on this mare's mobile barrier manners.
THUNDA DOWN UNDA - broke approaching the winning post the first time and settled at the rear. Broke again approaching the 400 metres losing all chance. A final warning was placed against this gelding's racing manners.
LITE GIOVANI - gave ground final stages.
BROTHER IN ARMS - broke briefly on the first turn. Driver Z. Butcher advised the near side hopple shortener became entangled in a side carrier after having released correctly.
SAVANNA - checked shortly after start. Checked again after 200 metres. Gave ground final stages.
 
Race 9 NEW YEAR'S EVE AUCKLAND CUP TWILIGHT RACES TROT Video  Video 
THE REV - broke on the first turn losing considerable ground. Broke near the 700 metres losing all chance.
MUSCULUS - broke at the start and then checked for some strides losing considerable ground.
TE KOUKA SUCCESS - broke at the start losing all chance.
PEGASUS GEM - Trainer G. Dixon was charged a Colour Fee of $25.00. Driver S. Lawson was shown the replay and spoken to advisedly in relation to dropping a foot from the sulky foot rest over the latter stages.
CAITLIN'S SURPRISE - broke early losing ground before settling. Held up early in the run home.
APOLLO - broke early losing ground before settling. Broke again entering the first turn.
ANGUS BURGA - slow to begin and then checked early.
HALLEY'S LAST - broke near the 600 metres.
