Race 2 - A ROCKNROLL DANCE 'SIRING OUTSTANDING FOALS' MOBILE PACE
The adjourned hearing in relation to the charge issued to Open Driver Mr A Beck alleging he had failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures in the home straight to ensure DON SEBASTIAN was given full opportunity to win the race was held at Ascot Park Raceway on 24th November 2016.

Mr Beck defended this charge and after viewing all available films along with considering evidence presented by the Racing Integrity Unit, Mr Beck and his witnesses Mr M Swain and DON SEBASTIAN's trainer Mr D Baynes the JCA found the charge to be proven.

After written submissions on penalty were filed the JCA's decision dated 15th December 2016 was to suspend Mr Beck's horseman's license from the end of racing at the WAIRIO TC's meeting on the 17th December 2016 up to and including the WINTON HRC's meeting on the 29th December 2016 (3 racing days). Mr Beck was additionally fined the sum of $480.00 and ordered to pay costs to the sum of $220.00 to the Racing Integrity Unit.

Race 3 - IAN LITTLE BUILDERS MOBILE PACE
Veterinary examintions following last week's performance of MACANDREW MAJIC have confirmed that the gelding is suffering from a fractured near hind pastern. Trainer T Stratford has informed Stewards that the gelding was operated on Tuesday and will be given a lengthy spell in consequence.

Following its performance at Winton on 11 December, TOMMYS BLUE CHIP was examined by a veterinary surgeon on 13 December and found to have no abnormalities with a veterinary clearance issued.

GEENA'S SUCCESS - slow through the early stages.Trotted roughly throughout the home straight.
MISS COCO - subjected to a pre-race veterinary examination and cleared to start. Commenced to give ground from the 600 metres.
JANUCCI GIRL - held up rounding the final bend when trailing a tiring runner.
DELESTIC - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Authorisation of second placing being awarded to this mare was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied this mare had complied with the Breaking Horse Regulations when breaking at the start. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer N Williamson.
 
Race 2 SOUTHLAND VEHICLE SALES JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
DACHY - raced keenly through the middle stages. Inclined to lay inwards over the concluding stages.
PAT'S LEGACY - raced keenly through the middle stages.
PLAYINGINTHESHADOWS - out of the Unruly position at the dispatch. Driver K Butt was cautioned and reminded of her obligations regarding the starting position for Unruly horses. Improved three-wide and raced without cover from the 1600 metres. Commenced to tire rapidly from the 700 metres. Miss Butt could offer no tangible explanation for this with a post-race veterinary examination revealing no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding with trainer T Butt in the coming days.
 
Race 3 MCNEILL'S POULTRY FARM (2006) LTD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
PAY MASTER - checked first bend.
GO GETTA - broke in the score up checking trailing runners with a false start being declared. A warning was placed against the geldings mobile barrier record. Inconvenienced first bend.
KAKA POINT CHRIS - inconvenienced first bend.
AIRHORSEONE - Boring pole removed for the re-start. Hung inwards negotiating the first bend before breaking checking trailing runners. Both hind hopple loops broke while in a gallop. Due to the geldings recent indiscretions, it was stood-down pending a satisfactory trial.
GRACE BURNS - paced awkwardly nearing the 500 metres and broke momentarily passing the 450 metres when racing keenly behind GO GETTA. When questioned regarding this break driver K Barclay advised the mare had struck a knee. This was evidenced by video replays and no further action was deemed necessary. Paced roughly nearing the 50 metres.
SOMNIUM - tired from the 600 metres.
NAVAJO ART - inconvenienced first bend.
CHANGE IT - Inconvenienced first bend.
YANKYOLA - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver B Williamson.
BIG SMOKE - hung inwards and broke near the 500 metres.

WAYWARD ROC - hung inwards entering the first bend.
JERRY FITZ - driver G Crawford advised only one sliding blind activated on the gelding.
ATOM HANOVER - held up rounding the final bend and in the early stages of the run home.
There were no claims for any runner in this event.

EASTBURN MARA - held up in the early stages of the run home.
JETSDREAM - hung inwards and had to be steadied in the early stages of the run home.

ANCHORWOMAN - raced three-wide without cover from the 950 metres before tiring rounding the final bend.
VERA MAC - held up throughout the run home.
SILKY SMOOTH EXCUSE - raced wide in the early stages.
EVER READY - Out of position at the candy pole and dispatch point. Driver K Barclay will be spoken to in the coming days in regards to this. Held up over the concluding stages.
Driver K Barclay (EVER READY) was cautioned to ensure she was in her allocated position at both the candy pole and dispatch point in future.
 
Race 7 TRANSPORT SERVICES LTD JUNIOR DRIVERS HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
MOA BONES - badly held up near the 400 metres when trailing a tiring runner.
DANIELLE AMORE - slow through the early stages. Improved forward from the 1800 metres. Challenged for the lead down the back straight on the last occasion before tiring from near the 400 metres before breaking and being pulled up shortly after. When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted from the 1100 metres to the 800 metres driver R McIlwrick advised that it was his instructions to drive the mare in a more forward position today as it was felt that she would be better suited to be driven aggressively given it had broken in its previous starts when asked to improve and sprint over the concluding stages. Trainer P Williamson advised that despite the poor performance of his mare today it was still his intention to drive her forward when circumstances permit. These comments were noted.
OVERCAST - broke at the start losing its chance and being retired from the event..
JUSTAMOLLYARCHER - over raced in the middle stages.
ASTRAL RULER - improved outwards nearing the 1700 metres. Stewards investigated as to whether there had been a breach of the Push Out Rule at this stage of the race with video replays showing ASTRAL RULER had improved outwards prior to DANIELLE AMORE reaching its wheel.
BEG HALL - trotted roughly and struggled to make ground on the field rounding the first bend. Battled throughout the run home. Driver K Butt expressed disappointment in the performance with a subsequent post-race veterinary examination revealing no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of this gelding with trainer T Butt in the coming days.
 
Race 8 SBS BANK MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
RIVER PATROL - Driver B McLellan was spoken to advisedly for the manner he drove near the 1500 metres.
ANNIE FITZ - over-raced in the parked position nearing the 1600 metres. Driver M Hurrell was spoken to advisedly for the manner he drove near the 1500 metres.
ERIN JACCKA - Out of position at the start. Driver S Tomlinson was cautioned to ensure she maintains her position on the mobile barrier until the dispatch point in future. Improved three wide from the 1500 metres. Worked hard down the back straight on the final occasion before tiring rapidly from the 450 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate. Trainer M Brown advised he will have blood tests conducted on the mare which Stewards will follow up in the coming days.
CRACKAMOA - Out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver B Morris.
JUST SAY GO - was out of position at the dispatch point. Driver K Barclay will be spoken to in the coming days regarding this.
FIRST SON - Out of position at the start. Driver M Parker was cautioned to ensure she maintains her position on the mobile barrier until the dispatch point in future.
BAKARI - hung inwards entering the first bend. Inclined to lay outwards throughout the run home.
LAMBORNE ROAD - subjected to a pre-race veterinary examination and cleared to start.
Driver K Barclay (JUST SAY GO) admitted not maintaining her position behind the mobile until the dispatch point and was fined the sum of $100.00 by the JCA.
 
Race 9 OTAUTAU FOUR SQUARE SUPERMARKET WAIRIO CUP (HANDICAP PACE) Video  Video 
AMERICAN SPIRIT - raced greenly nearing the 1400 metres. Inclined to lay outwards exiting the final bend.
FRANCO TRISTAN - driver C Thornley advised the removable deafeners on this gelding did not activate due to becoming entangled.
ALL JOKES ASIDE - broke at the start.
THE BIG BOSS - shifted up the track exiting the final bend.
ROBYN'S BAD BOY - broke at the start. Warning placed on standing start barrier record. Held up rounding the final bend.
 
Race 10 MACCA LODGE FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
LADY GO CULLECT - slow through the early stages.Hung outwards rounding the final bend when tiring.
LE VADO - held up rounding the final bend and the early stages of the run home.
VENETO - contacted the sulky wheel of FIRE ONE shortly after the start and became unbalanced, Stewards spoke with junior horseman J Kennett (who elected to not have the assistance of a senior horseman) in regards to this and issued him with a caution for the manner in which he drove at this stage of the race.
VENICE BEACH - held up early stages of the run home.
 
Race 11 WILLY'S FLOORING MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
KAGEE VC - out of position at dispatch despite the efforts of driver B Barclay. Due to this being a repeat from its debut run a warning was placed on this gelding's mobile barrier manners.
SWAP OVER - retired from the race when leading nearing the 1200 metres after the sulky's undercarriage collapsed free of any interference. The reason behind this will be investigated by the Stewards.
MATAI JETSTAR - tired final bend.
FEAR XCHANGE - inconvenienced when SWAP OVER was retired from the event nearing the 1200 metres. Tired from the 700 metres.
TIZIANO - raced keen in the score up.
