Race 4 - BELOW THE LINE HANDICAP TROT
K Chapman, as the trainer of BELLES SON, has reported to Stewards that subsequent to the geldings last start at Auckland on the 9th of December the horse was treated for muscle tie up. Mr Chapman advised that blood tests taken in the past week show the horse to be free of that issue, that BELLES SON's work has been pleasing this week and he is confident of an improved showing on Friday night.

Race 1 CANAM CONSTRUCTION FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
KATE BLACK - broke in the early stages of the score up but regained its position prior to dispatch. Broke approaching the 1600 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners record.
REAL TORQUE - held up rounding the final bend and when clear inside the 150 metres failed to run on. When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of REAL TORQUE, Driver S. Ottley advised the mare had travelled lethargically throughout and she had been disappointed with her efforts over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. The connections undertook to notify stewards if anything comes to light in the coming days that may help to explain the run.
SMILEY SOPHIE - raced erratically around the first bend laying in and laying out. When questioned as to why she had not improved her position on the bend near the 800 metres Driver N. Rasmussen advised the filly had raced greenly on that bend with her having to steady for several strides. Miss Rasmussen added that at this stage of the filly's career she was not suited to racing wide and without cover and that when circumstances permit it would be their intention to continue driving the horse with a sit. After considering her explanation the matter was taken no further.
MAJOR ROCKET - raced three wide without cover inside the last 900 metres.
KAITLYN - three wide with cover from inside the 800 metres, five wide entering the straight for the run home.
CULLEN WHO - three wide with cover from the 900 metres, four wide rounding the home bend.

TORBJORN - broke inside the 200 metres losing its chance.
BAREFOOT BARBIE - broke at the start losing ground.
SHADY SADIE - broke at the start losing ground. Broke again passing the 1800 metres losing considerable ground.
KING OF THE ROSES - broke briefly approaching the 300 metres. Again broke for a short time when in the lead passing the 80 metres.
MOMENT OF TRUTH - inclined to lay in rounding the bends. Contacted pylons on the home bend.

ASK AGAIN - paced roughly passing the 400 metres.
THREE KISSES - broke near the 300 metres losing all chance. A warning was placed on this filly's racing manners record.
UTMOST DELIGHT - paced roughly passing the 400 metres.
 
Race 4 BRECKON FARMS YOUNG GUNS SERIES (HEAT 1) MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
RECCO LOVER - broke briefly on the first turn. Driver D. Butcher advised that the colt was over-racing.
ALTA MAESTRO - Horseman D.Dunn advised he did not activate the removable deafeners on this colt.
THE BUS - When spoken to regarding the run of this colt driver S. Ottley advised Stewards that the horse may not have fully recovered from its successful trial during the week. She further added the horse would derive benefit from this evening's first up effort.
ARDEN'S WINSTAR - broke over the early stages losing all chance. Driver T. Williams advised that one of the ear plugs had released causing the colt to take fright.
BETTOR B ABELIEVER - inclined to lay in racing into the first bend and paced roughly over a shadow rounding the first bend.
ROYAL TRIBUTE - broke passing the 1300 metres losing all chance.

WRANGLER - over-raced in the middle stages.
ALTA INTRIGUE - tended to lay in near the 900 metres.

GOLDEN GATE - broke passing the 1200 metres losing all chance.
LE REVEUR - broke briefly at the start. Raced three wide early.
HARRIET OF MOT - broke inside the 600 metres losing its chance. Co-Trainer A. Edmonds advised she would be returning the mare to the track in the upcoming week in an attempt to improve its tractability when racing right handed.
BELLES SON - dislodged pylons after racing in tight quarters into the first bend.
BORDEAUX - broke entering the first turn after being struck by a dislodged pylon losing considerable ground. Held up rounding the final bend and the early stages of the run home.
VALMAGNE - broke shortly after the start but soon settled.
MARCOOLA - raced three wide from the 1700 metres before improving to lead near the 1000 metres. Driver C. Ford advised that he pulled a flat tyre for the majority of the race.
QUITE A MOMENT - raced three wide over the early and middle stages.

CHASE THE DREAM - broke at the start losing all chance and while in a gallop checked LOCHARBURN. A warning was placed on the standing start manners of this horse. Trainer M. Purdon advised that the entire will be placed in a mobile start event for its next start after which he will make gear changes prior to any future standing start.
NO DOCTOR NEEDED - broke at the start losing all chance.
LITTLE RASCAL - broke at the start losing ground settling toward the rear.
TITAN BANNER - paced roughly passing the 800 metres when challenging the leader.
LOCHARBURN - checked into a break shortly after the start losing considerable ground.

IDEAL BELLE - over-raced in the middle stages and then weakened during the run home.
ROCKER BAND - lay in and contacted several pylons on the final turn.
BETTER B AMAZED - Driver A. Herlihy was reminded of his obligations to drive his horse out to the end of the race and leave no room for query.
LUSTY MAC - lay in early when being restrained.

ITALIAN DELIGHT - broke briefly passing the winning post on the first occasion.
BIG MACH - broke on the first turn losing all chance and while in a gallop checked trailing runners. A warning was placed on this gelding's racing manners record.
ECLIPSE ME - held up rounding the final bend and early stages of the run home.
SIR RICHIE - checked approaching the 1800 metres.
YOU GOTTA HAVE FAITH - checked approaching the 1800 metres. When spoken to regarding the run of his colt driver T Williams reported that he had become further back than he had anticipated from the draw and then lost further ground when checked. He said that the horse had raced greenly at stages thereafter and felt that it would derive considerable benefit from this evening's race.
WALKINSHAW - checked approaching the 1800 metres.
 
Race 10 WINGER MOTORS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MOTU METEOR - paced roughly shortly after the start checking RAPTORS FLIGHT. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier manners of this colt.
RED MOON RISING - shifted out just prior to reaching the passing lane when leading.
ROCKNROLL LEGEND - Trainers Telfer and Garlick were issued a Minor Infringement Notice and fined $100.00 for presenting the gelding without the notified sliding blinds.
RAPTORS FLIGHT - checked for a few strides shortly after the start.
SNOW RAKER - paced roughly over the early stages of the race.
DON DOMINGO - paced roughly throughout the run home. When spoken to as to whether he could have improved his position at an earlier stage driver B Orange advised this evenings field was a noticeable rise in class to that which he encountered last week and for that reason he had been reluctant to shift outwards earlier on the bend as he felt he would have been shifted considerably wider.

LOVELY BUNDY - broke at the start losing all chance. This mare was declared unruly for standing starts.
JOMO - reluctant to turn to face the barrier strand.
LOVEONTHELAWN - broke at the start, breaking again passing the 1300 metres losing all chance.
SUNDOWN IN PARIS - received a check inside the 1000 metres. Broke near the 400 metres.
LEMOND - slow away and trotted unevenly over the initial stages of the race.
CYCLONE CHIEF - checked inside the 1000 metres.
GINTARAS - broke shortly after the start and settled towards the rear.
BLOOD AND WHISKY - broke near the 700 metres.
MR GOOD AND EVIL - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Held up until inside the final 100 metres.
