HIGHLAND REIGN - placed in restricted room near the 1850 metres and had to be steadied. Stewards questioned driver C Negus regarding the manner she drove near the 1100 metres when taking her runner to a three wide position after it had previously been notified to Stewards the horse would be driven with cover when circumstances permitted. Mrs Negus explained it had been her intention to remain in the two wide line but felt the runner she was following, FULHAM ROYALE, was under some pressure and was wary of being affected should it weaken. Mrs Negus added that after shifting to the outside of FULHAM ROYALE it had been able to maintain it's position for a considerable distance leaving her wider on the track than she had anticipated.

He added that once he had been taken wider the horse had raced lethargically for some distance. Stewards noted the comments of Mr Edge and advised him that in future it was expected he make a greater attempt to take his runner into clear racing room.
