Race Comments
Race 1 NOTTINGHAM CASTLE HOTEL MORRINSVILLE MOBILE PACE Video  Video
EASY FOR CULLEN - no claims lodged.
CHAL SHOCKED - Amateur Driver S Wigg admitted a charge under Rule 857(7)(d) in that she came to the starting gate out of position in the initial stages of the score up. The JCA imposed a fine of $200.00. Paced roughly over the early stages before racing ungenerously when attempting to cross to the lead near the 1600 metres. When questioned regarding the tactics that she adopted during the running, Ms Wigg confirmed that the gelding had been beaten for gate speed when pacing roughly early and then raced lethargically down the back the first time before crossing to lead. She further stated that after having worked to find the front that she felt it was her best option to hand up to DROVER'S EYRE, which she considered the horse to beat, when that gelding improved forward shortly after. Ms Wigg's comments were noted.
ZAKSPATROL - no claims lodged.
DROVER'S EYRE - Amateur Driver F Phelan was cautioned for his lack of control on the final turn when he allowed his gelding to shift out marginally under pressure which presented an inside run to the trailing CHAL SHOCKED just prior to the passing lane.

Race 2 DIPROSE MILLER FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video
MARIE BROWNE - commenced to give ground near the 400 metres before racing erratically and shifting out near the 200 metres checking MANIHIKI PEARL.
MANIHIKI PEARL - checked passing the 200 metres.
BE A LEGEND - raced greenly in the score up and was back from position at the start before showing gate speed to lead over the early stages. Over-raced during the middle stages and then paced roughly approaching the 900 metres and contacted a number of track markers before being restrained to the rear. Authorisation of this mare's 4th placing was withheld until it was confirmed that BE A LEGEND had not gained any advantage when racing over approximately 3 track markers near the 900 metres. Driver S Phelan explained that he had been concerned that the mare may have commenced to choke down so he elected to shift down and race over the marker pegs briefly for safety reasons until the body of the field had improved around to clear him. A warning was placed against this mare's racing manners.
AMERICAN MARY - badly held up final turn until passing the 200 metres.
