Stable representative B Orange has informed Stewards that blood tests taken from ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT following its disappointing performance last weekend at Addington revealed a blood disorder which has since been treated.

Race 7 - PORT FM MOBILE PACE
Stable representative J Dunn has advised Stewards that COBRA BANNER has recovered well from its run at Timaru last weekend where he feels that the gelding had been stirred up by the false start. He further advised that COBRA BANNER will race in Auckland in the coming weeks.

FIREY SU - paced roughly and broke shortly after the start. The connections were advised the gelding will be drawn unruly for future mobile starts.
BETTOR CHANCE - held up over the final stages of the run home.
MANINTHEMIRROR - shifted outwards passing the 100 metres when being driven out.
BEACH SKIPPER - held up early stages of the home straight.
ANGUS STAR - hampered first bend.
THE NANS MAN - hampered first bend. Hung outwards and raced keenly in the middle stages.
SHARK ALI - hampered first bend.
GREY SKIES - checked first bend.

DREAM BIG - broke at the start.
SUNNY DEMON - broke at the start. Broke again near the 2000 metres and the 1800 metres and was retired from the race. Trainer J Cox advised it was his intention to experiment with the horse's shoeing and then return it to the trials or workouts.
MAJESTIC DE FENCE - broke at the start. Placed on the unruly for standing starts at the request of the connections.
YOUNG STRANGER - broke after 150 metres when racing to the outside of ASTRAPI (J Dunn) which shifted outwards. Stewards spoke with drivers T Grant and J Dunn regarding this and after considering their explanations were not satisfied that any one horse or driver were to blame so took the matter no further. Hung outwards passing the 500 metres and shifted up the track. Trotted roughly near the 400 metres.
LIGHTWORKOFIT - swung inwards at the start losing ground. Trotted roughly near the 1100 metres and lost ground.
ASTRAPI - trotted roughly in the home straight.
STYLISH DUKE - hampered soon after the start by the wayward LIGHTWORKOFIT.

WILLEDU - broke at the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's mobile barrier record. Broke racing into the first bend.
BAILEYS KNIGHT - broke racing into the first bend. Broke near the 450 metres. A warning was placed on the colt's racing record. Trainer/driver J Harrington advised he intended to make gear changes.
SMOLDERING ASHES - weakened passing the 600 metres.
BELMONT JET - was a short distance out of position at dispatch despite the efforts of driver S Ottley.

RUN BOY RUN - broke shortly after the start. Held up in the early stages of the run home.
JAMES DEAN - broke shortly after the start and had to be restrained.
KYLIE ANN - broke at the start.
LIKELY JEREME - inconvenienced shortly after the start. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.
SUPREME HARMONY - checked at the start.
ALL STAR MAGICIAN - checked at the start. Paced roughly near the 100 metres.
BLUE CHIP LAD - shifted inwards abruptly at the start checking several runners. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
FLASH BOY - paced roughly in the early stages.

DANNY DEL VITO - began awkwardly and got back as a result. Broke after 200 metres. Broke again on the first bend. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record. Driver T Quate dropped his whip over the final stages. T Quate warned for the manner in which he used his whip in the early stages of the run home.
MOTU LIGHTNING LASS - raced keenly between the 1800 metres and the 1600 metres when being restrained to surrender the lead to the improving JONTY JAMES.
ALL NUTS N BOLTS - broke at the start. Held up for clear racing room in the home straight.
MYSISTERSASTAR - broke at the start.
FLAMBOYANT - hampered near the 1800 metres.
CULLEY BACKY - held up in the early stages of the run home.
TABELLA JET - broke at the start. Returned to the birdcage with the hopple carrier straps unattached. Trainer M House was issued a $100 minor infringement notice for failing to affix the gear so as not to come adrift.
REGAL GESTURE - gave ground on the final bend after racing three wide without cover.
HESTIA FRANCO - broke near the 1800 metres. Driver J Morrison reported the mare had hung and proved difficult. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
MAN OF CHANGE - broke at the start. Broke near the 300 metres.

ROCKI WARRIOR - Driver K Butt advised she dropped her whip at the top of the straight.
AVEROSS BRACHOLE - Hampered near the 1000 metres and had to be steadied. Driver J Markham advised the removable deafeners did not activate due to the cord becoming entangled.
CLAUS - hung outwards when leading near the 1300 metres.
MRS BROWN'S BOY - became awkwardly positioned near the sulky wheel of SPARKLING DELIGHT nearing the 1100 metres and then made contact causing the gelding to race roughly in consequence. Driver S Payne admitted a charge laid under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly at this time. After considering submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $300.
SPARKLING DELIGHT - carried a punctured sulky tyre for the final 1000 metres.
YANKEE TARA - underwent a post-race veterinary examination after driver J Morrison reported the gelding had been making abnormal respiratory noises. This examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer S McRae advised he would be adding a cornell collar to the horse's gear for future racing.

PRECIOUS PET - gave ground near the 600 metres.
BK DAWN - broke after 150 metres.
MISSIE CASTLETON - hampered passing the 700 metres.
QUITE A MOMENT - when spoken to regarding the mare's performance driver R May could offer no explanation but advised he had been disappointed with the mare's efforts over the final stages. Co-trainer G Hope advised he would have blood tests taken in the coming days and undertook to notify the results to Stewards.
HABIBTI - when spoken to regarding the mare's performance driver and co-trainer D Butt could offer no explanation but advised he had been slightly disappointed with the mare's efforts over the final stages. Stewards will speak with the connections in the coming days regarding the mare's recovery.
 
Race 9 TERROR TO LOVE METHVEN CUP (HANDICAP PACE) Video  Video 
VALMAGNE - late scratching at 8.08am on veterinary advice.
CALLENBERG - reared as the tapes were released. Broke near the 400 metres.
MAVERICK - began awkwardly. Hung inwards in the middle stages. Broke near the 600 metres. When questioned regarding this trainer/driver N McGrath reported the entire to have hung and then blundered in its gait losing its footing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
QUICK AS A TRICK - broke at the start. Had to steady near the 2800 metres after a slight easing of the pace. Raced fiercely in the middle stages.
EXPRESSIVE VICTOR - Checked near the 600 metres losing its chance.
FIFTH EDITION - fractious prior to the start. Broke in the early stages. Declared unruly for future standing starts. Driver G Smith advised he would be recommending gear changes. Had to steady near the 2800 metres after a slight easing of the pace. Badly checked near the 600 metres losing ground.
SMOLDA - driver T Williams reported he had not activated the gelding's deafeners.

SHANTAHLIA ROMEO - raced wide in the early stages. Hung inwards in the middle stages.
BOBBY T - raced wide in the early stages.
BETTOR BE SMOOTH - broke near the 350 metres.
GYPSY'S CHOICE - not in position at the candy pole. Driver G O'Reilly was issued with a warning. Paced roughly near the 1000 metres when attempting to improve three wide.
SWEET LORESS -Trainer P Anderson charged a $25 colour fee. Not in position at the candy pole. Driver R May was issued with a warning.
 
Race 11 STAPLES & KIDD HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
MARSHAL STAR - reared and stood on the mark at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Held up for clear racing room in the home straight. Driver R Close advised he had not activated the gelding's removable deafeners.
CRACKABELLA - held up in the early stages of the run home.
MR MIDNIGHT - broke at the start.
SMARTER VC - notwithstanding his horse winning, driver C DeFilippi was spoken to regarding the manner in which he drove throughout the final straight. Mr DeFilippi was reminded that it was expected he drive his runners in a manner that does not leave him exposed to query.
BUZKIL - fractious behind the barrier. Broke for a short distance 100 metres after the start.
ROMANITE - driver J Harrington spoken to regarding his use of the whip in the run home.
DALNESS MAC - inconvenienced after 100 metres and had to be steadied.
BURN OFF - inconvenienced after 100 metres and had to be steadied.
BANK RAIDER - held up leaving the final bend.
FRANCO TEXAS - inconvenienced after 100 metres and had to be steadied.
