COMMANDO ONE - Driver J Curtin reported the mare hung throughout.
ITSNOWORNEVER - hung inwards leaving the final bend and was held up in the early stages of the run home.
DESERT STORM - broke shortly after the start. Kicked out and got its leg over the rein resulting in Driver B Taylor being dislodged from the sulky towards the outside of the track. The Clerk of the Course and the Safety Crew were able to assist DESERT STORM, which was fractious, down on to the track for safety reasons. A post race veterinary examination showed no apparent abnormalities. Driver B Taylor was examined by St John's Ambulance staff and cleared to take his remaining drives. The connections were advised the gelding had been stood down until such time that it can complete a satisfactory trial.

VELOCETTE - broke shortly after the start and lost ground. Hung out and raced roughly near the 1100 metres and in doing so made contact with the sulky of SONG OF VICTORY. Broke again near the 300 metres. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing record.

Race 3 SPEIGHTS ALE HOUSE MOBILE PACE Video  Video
BLUE JAY COURT - raced roughly in the score up and broke immediately prior to dispatch losing ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
FRANK LUCAS - briefly hampered near the 200 metres.
GLENDENE - weakened passing the 300 metres and hung outwards. Checked near the 200 metres with the gelding galloping for a short distance. When spoken to regarding the performance of this gelding driver J Abernethy could only advise he had been disappointed with its efforts. Trainer D Gale advised that in his opinion the horse had been unsuited to racing fresh up over 2500 metres and that it was his intention to race the horse over a shorter distance on Thursday if possible. He added that in his opinion the horse would derive considerable benefit from the run.
FLIGHT OFFICER - the right side number disc came adrift during the running. Hampered by a tiring runner passing the 300 metres with Driver A Poutama shifting the gelding wider on the track.
FLYIN ARIZONA - Driver S Phelan was charged under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove FLYIN ARIZONA carelessly shifting inward when insufficiently clear checking GLENDENE (J Abernethy) which broke for a couple of strides passing the 200 metres. The charge was admitted and the JCA imposed a fine of $250.
FOURPENNY ONE - shifted in abruptly near the 200 metres.
LOVE AMERICAN STYLE - hampered in the early stages.

Race 4 CENTRAL ENERGY TRUST MOBILE PACE Video  Video
RANGI RANGDU - hung inwards passing the 900 metres and had to be steadied when making an unsuccessful attempt for the front. Weakened on the final bend after racing parked throughout.
HALSTON BROMAC - hung outwards through the back straight under pressure and weakened considerably. A warning was placed on this horse's racing record. Junior Driver A Drake was warned in regard to the use of his whip on a runner which was out of contention.
KATE JACKSON - hung in the final stages in the score up and in consequence was a short distance out of position at the start.
TUAPEKA TROY - raced roughly in the early stages.
JACK BATES - weakened passing the 600 metres. A warning was placed on the horse's racing performance.

Race 5 BECOME A MEMBER MOBILE PACE Video  Video

Race 6 NEXT MEETING THURSDAY NIGHT 13TH OCTOBER MOBILE PACE Video  Video

ISLAY - hung in on the bend near the 800 metres. Driver S Phelan dropped his foot from the rest on the final bend when attempting to activate gear. Unable to obtain clear racing room throughout the home straight.

Race 7 P J SCAIFE MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT Video  Video
DANKE - a veterinary clearance to race was received for this gelding which was a dual acceptor after starting in Race 1.
SPEEDY EARL - Junior Driver T Lethaby momentarily dropped his foot from the sulky footrest passing the 100 metres. Junior Driver T Lethaby was warned to correct his whip action.
GREY STOKE - broke at the start and was in an incorrect gait for 100 metres losing ground.
HARRY H - slow away. When questioned as to why he had not attempted to improve his position earlier in the race than he had done so driver J Abernethy explained that HARRY H was best driven with a sit and felt that NO BACARDI DAMIT was a horse that would likely take him into the race. He added that he had improved his runner near the 700 metres when it was apparent they were failing to make any impression on the lead group but struggled to make any ground thereafter. Trainer D Gale advised that he had instructed J Abernethy to follow another horse at all times, even in the preliminary, due to its erratic racing tendency when racing in the open. The comments of Mr Abernethy and Mr Gale were noted. The gelding was removed from the unruly for standing starts.
NO BACARDI DAMIT - raced roughly throughout and had difficulty maintaining its position in contact with the leaders and broke passing the 500 metres.
