Race 1 WINTON'S TOP PUB CLAIMERS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
TIKETY BOO - driver B Barclay was cautioned to ensure that he is in position prior to reaching the candy pole.
SUPERMOSHI - driver B Orange reported that the mare was left flat-footed from the 1000 metres and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities other than an elevated heart rate.
TILLY PATRON - driver A Milne was cautioned to ensure that he is in position prior to reaching the candy pole.
POCKET CAESAR - driver A Suddaby was cautioned to ensure that his whip does not protrude outside the sulky confines.
SOUTHBROOK - caretaker trainer C Ferguson issued with $200 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the mare onto the track with under five minutes until start time. Raced wide through the early stages until near the 1700 metres. Commenced to give ground passing the 1000 metres.
SARAH KATE - broke passing the 400 metres.
NORTHVIEW DAVE - hung inwards over the final 800 metres placing driver S Tomlinson at a disadvantage.
 
Race 2 WINTON WORKOUTS COMMITTEE HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
MON ARCHIE WAY - held up for a distance passing the 500 metres. Broke near the 350 metres.
DUCHESS GRACE - switched into a pace near the 500 metres resulting in Driver D Dunn having to restrain the mare inside the marker line to regain its correct gait.
MATAI JETSTAR - broke at the start.
LOXI CLAIRBORNE - inconvenienced passing the 400 metres.
SKY TOWER - broke briefly at the start.
FOURSHARESMOREBEERS - when questioned regarding the performance, trainer/driver C Buchan was of the opinion the gelding may be feeling the effects of recent racing and would be sent for a freshen up prior to resuming.
GIRLS NITE OUT - fractious prior to the start. Slow to begin and broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
INSIGNIFICANT - raced wide in the early stages and then without cover over the final 1400 metres.
 
Race 3 HE'S WATCHING AT ALABAR MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MANUKA VALLEY - held up rounding the final bend and through the early stages of the home straight until near the 150 metres.
L A CONFIDENTIAL - checked over the concluding stages.
IDEAL ART - raced wide without cover in the early stages. Veered outwards abruptly near the 20 metres. Warning placed against racing manners record.
IDEAL DENARIO - steadied passing the 100 metres when attempting a marginal run to the inside of TRENDY'S BAD GIRL.
ALTA TERESA - paced roughly and broke through the latter stages of the score up. Checked over the concluding stages.
GREEN FINGERS - broke shortly after the start. Warning placed against mobile barrier record.
SEDUCE ME - checked over the concluding stages.
IVY MAY DELIGHT - broke and fell heavily during the score up and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.55 pm on veterinary advice. Trainer A Milne was advised that the mare must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to resuming.
VENICE BEACH - hung outwards leaving the bend near the 300 metres.
 
Race 4 ROCK N ROLL HEAVEN STANDING AT ALABAR 2016/17 MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SPINNAKER - driver R McIlwrick reported that the mare had worked hard throughout the running and in his opinion would derive benefit from the outing.
THEMAILMAN - hung inwards near then 1300 metres locking sulky stays with GREAT ABBEY. Hung inwards entering the bend near the 750 metres and had to be straightened.
TUHERBS TWO - held up entering the home straight until near the 150 metres.
HUNTER BROMAC - paced roughly and broke near the 300 metres. Broke approaching the 50 metres. Driver D Dunn reported that the gelding had paced indifferently throughout the event.
LEANDER LILY - improved to race wide without cover passing the 1300 metres.
HONEY SMITH - raced wide without cover in the early stages and was restrained to obtain cover near the 2000 metres.
HURRICANE BANNER - held up for a short distance near the 350 metres.
GREAT ABBEY - locked sulky stays with THEMAILMAN near the 1300 metres.
 
Race 5 AUCKLAND REACTOR OLDEST CROP ARE 2YOS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ATOM HANOVER - raced wide without cover throughout.
NIGHTMARCH - inconvenienced approaching the 1600 metres when awkwardly positioned behind FLASHING ON. Held up briefly near the 400 metres.
FLASHING ON - commenced to over-race approaching the 1600 metres and when being restrained paced roughly.
 
Race 6 A W KYLE BUILDERS HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
MOKOSUN - broke shortly after the start losing ground.
THE JINJA NINJA - inconvenienced shortly after the start when awkwardly positioned behind the breaking MOKOSUN. Broke over the concluding stages.
PYRAMID MAGIC - broke over the concluding stages and was lapped on by OVERCAST. A protest was lodged pursuant to Rule 870(5) and was subsequently relegated to third placing.
 
Race 7 TREVOR PROCTOR PAINTER MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
HI DELIGHT - held up rounding the final bend and through the early stages of the home straight.
LUCAS - held up rounding the final bend.
MUCHO MACHO MAN - over-raced through the middle stages. Steadied near the 900 metres when awkwardly positioned behind TACT OLLIE. Driver D Dunn reported that the colt raced fiercely throughout and choked down. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery with trainer T Stratford in the coming days.
BATTLE MAC - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the home straight. Driver R Swain was cautioned to ensure that he maintains his barrier position.
TUAS DELIGHT - driver P Hunter was cautioned to change his whip action.
THE DALI EXPRESS - steadied near the 900 metres when awkwardly position behind MUCHO MACHO MAN.
TACT OLLIE - restrained near the 900 metres when there was an easing of the pace in the one out-line.
EL DINERO - paced roughly through the latter stages of the score up. Steadied near the 200 metres when awkwardly positioned behind the weakening MUCHO MACHO MAN.
SWAP OVER - raced three wide without cover over the final 1500 metres.
 
Race 8 MACCA LODGE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ALSA LUSTRE - held up for a short distance near the 250 metres.
FIDDLETHEFOOL - raced wide without cover in the early stages until near the 1000 metres. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance driver N Williamson advised that the horse had trialled well in preparation for today's event and could offer no tangible explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery with trainer B Shirley in the coming days.
PULP FICTION - driver M Anderson was cautioned to ensure that he maintains his barrier position until dispatch. Driver M Anderson was also cautioned for failing to notify Stewards of non-activated removable gear at the earliest opportunity.
 
Race 9 CENTRAL SOUTHLAND FREIGHT HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
A false start was declared due to the 10 metre barrier strand failing to release.
FRANCO NIXON - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room entering the home straight.
ROBYN'S BAD BOY - baulked passing the winning post on the first occasion. Held up throughout the home straight and went to the line without being tested by its driver.
SUPERIOR DESIRE - fractious behind the tapes and proved reluctant to fulfil its allocated starting position. Prior to the start backed away and swung sideways and was unable to be corrected by driver B Barclay. Interfered with ARDEN'S CONCORD. Declared unruly for future standing start events. Connections advised that the gelding would be restricted to mobile events for any upcoming engagements.
ARDEN'S CONCORD - hampered prior to the start and was unable to move away when the strands were released. After speaking with the starter B Ward, trainer G Anderson and driver R McIlwrick, Stewards declared the gelding a non-runner pursuant to Rule 213(1)(j).
 
Race 10 SPORTSWRITER STANDING AT ALABAR 2016/17 MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
SWEET AS - commenced to weaken passing the 500 metres. When questioned, driver R McIlwrick reported that the mare had proved very disappointing when placed under pressure and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery with trainer A Paisley in the coming days.
RUM DELIGHT - became held up for a distance near the 500 metres when trailing the weakening SWEET AS.
BOBBIE'S GIRL - raced fiercely during the score up resulting in the mare breaking and checking several second line runners with a false start being declared. Driver S Tomlinson elected to move to the unruly position for the restart. Warning placed on mobile barrier record.
BOLD RULER - hung outwards through the latter stages of the score up. Driver P Hunter advised that the gelding had become agitated after the false start but despite this he had been disappointed with his efforts over the final stages.
FERN FEVER - inconvenienced during the latter stages of the score up. Held up entering the home straight.
KATE JACKSON - commenced to weaken near the 500 metres. Connections advised that it would be their intention to shift the mare out of their racing care.
