Co-trainer G Hope advised Stewards that SEEL THE DEAL, despite working well during the week, had returned some slightly abnormal blood tests which suggested the gelding may have a minor infection. After seeking advice from his Veterinarian, Mr Hope was assured that his gelding's ability to race competitively would not be compromised and consequently accepted for this evening's race (Allied Security 'Maurice Holmes Vase'). This information was relayed through Trackside.

BAKARI - out of position at dispatch. Warning placed on barrier record. Raced greenly in the early stages. Raced wide and without cover from the 800 metres. Hung under pressure when weakening final stages. Driver J Dunn could only advise he was disappointed with the gelding's efforts. A post-race veterinary examination showed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with trainer K Chapman in the coming days.
TIGER THOMPSON - broke approaching the 60 metres and continued in a gallop across the line. A protest against 5th placing under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations was not contested by the connections and TIGER THOMPSON was disqualified by the JCA.
BAILEYS KNIGHT - broke shortly after the start. Warning placed on barrier record.
SHINEONUCRAZYDIAMOND - over-raced when being restrained near the 1300 metres to surrender the lead.
ATOM EXPRESS - raced wide early stages.
FORGOTTEN HIGHWAY - paced awkwardly on occasions in the back straight on the final occasion.
SPEEDY MACH - held up passing the 350 metres.

HANDLEBAR HANK - received some crowding final stages.
LIVING LEGEND - hung soon after the start. Raced wide in the early stages.
SANS LE SOU - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the final straight.
NIC MAC WILLY - hung inwards when being taken forwards in the early stages.
AVEROSS RUSTLER - driver D Dunn reported he did not activate the gelding's sliding blinds. When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer A Faulks explained this gelding had tonight encountered what he considered to be a weaker field than recent opposition. Mr Faulks added he had noticed an improvement in the horse's wellbeing in the previous week and raced its best races when driven by D Dunn.
EJA PATRON - held up in the run home.
HIGHLAND REIGN - held up final bend and again over the final stages. Driver questioned regarding his reason for not shifting outwards and improving his position near the 700 metres. J Cox explained that at the mare's two previous starts he had driven her in a similar manner and it was the opinion of the connections that she had finished those races off best because of that. Mr Cox added that despite HIGHLAND REIGN dropping back to C1 tonight he felt she was still unsuited to racing wide for any significant distance and it was his intention to drive the mare in a similar manner in future. Trainer B Negus when questioned reported that his mare could only sustain a run for a short distance and in the past when asked to work during a race had finished poorly and in his experience failed to back up at its next run. Mr Negus added the mare's next assignment was likely to be an Amateur drivers race where he would be instructing the driver to handle her in a similar manner.

ROCKNROLL MAGIC - paced roughly early stages. Broke near the 2400 metres. Warning placed on racing manners.
PADDINGTON CENTRAL - held up early stages of the run home.
BLADE - checked first bend. Shifted outwards final bend. Driver G Smith spoken to regarding his inadequate attempt to straighten the gelding. Mr Smith advised BLADE had struck the sulky discs throughout and over-raced causing it to choke down. He added that it was his intention to make gear changes prior to resuming.
DAYLIGHT ROBBERY - held up final bend.
ROYAL JESTER - checked first bend. Driver L McKay was reminded of her obligations to check in when placed by the Judge.
NICAEA FRANCO - checked first bend. Returned to the enclosure with severe hopple chafe and treated by the vet. A veterinary clearance will be required.
ART I AM - checked first bend.
CLOBBER - paced roughly and broke shortly after the start. Lost chance and retired from event. Warning placed on racing manners.

SHE'SA TRICKY BRIDGE - driver L Lester was warned for her use of the whip over the final stages.
HOTDIGGETTYCULLEN - held up leaving the final bend.
GO FELLA GO - broke at the start. Tired considerably over final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed soreness in the wither region. A veterinary clearance will be required.
DON PIERRE - raced wide and without cover from the 900 metres.
DANSE MACABRE - rein pricker removed prior to the start.
HOPEFUL HARRIET - held up leaving the final bend.
 
Race 5 FAULKS INVESTMENTS LTD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
DREAMY DAMIEN - broke in the score up and checked trailing runner causing a false start. Warning placed on barrier record. Driver C DeFilippi elected to remain in position one for re-start.
RANFURLY RULZ - held up final stages.
DANA DUKE - held up run home.
THATS BETTOR - held up run home.
IDEALINDIAMONDS - when questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing run of the entire driver B Butt explained his runner had become agitated after the false start but despite this he had been disappointed with his efforts over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination showed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
HERE WE GO AGAIN - over-raced early and middle stages.
CROFT BAY - when spoken to regarding the performance of the gelding driver S Ottley reported her runner had become agitated subsequent to the false start and over-raced throughout.

DOCTOR BONES - hung inwards racing round the bends.
KOWHAI MONARCH - broke racing into the first bend.
BORDEAUX - broke at the start.
PHIL'S GIFT - broke after 150 metres.

Race 7 ALLIED SECURITY MAURICE HOLMES VASE (STANDING START) Video  Video 
CULLECT A GUINNESS - began awkwardly. Broke briefly after 50 metres. Over-raced middle stages. Hung inwards final bend. Driver G Smith reported he had difficulty steering the gelding and would be recommending gear changes to the trainer.
COSTA DEL MAGNIFICO - weakened near the 300 metres. When questioned regarding the entire's run driver N Williamson reported he was very disappointed with its efforts. A post-race veterinary examination showed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with trainer B Shirley in the coming days.
SEEL THE DEAL - held up final bend and placed in restricted room making contact with several pylons. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination including an endoscopic examination after being reported to make abnormal respiratory noises during the running and on pulling up. This examination revealed the gelding to have an epiglottic entrapment. Co-trainer G Hope advised he will be seeking further veterinary attention in the coming days and undertook to notify Stewards of the results of any findings.
LOCHARBURN - shifted outwards under pressure early stages of the run home despite the efforts of driver D Dunn.
WOODLEA LEGEND - began awkwardly.
FRANCO NELSON - held up final bend.
 
Race 8 METALCRAFT ROOFING MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
AFTERDINNERSPEAKER - broke near the 900 metres after making an unsuccessful attempt for the lead.
IMOLA - trainer G Smith fined $100 for presenting this runner with incorrect saddlecloth. G Smith spoken to regarding his use of the whip outside the sulky confines.
JOHNNY EYRE - over-raced early stages when being restrained.
 
Race 9 MICO PLUMBING HORNBY HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
FORGOT TO REMEMBER - paced entering the first bend and was heavily restrained by driver S Golding resulting in the mare losing its chance.
ELLA LAVRA - began awkwardly. Carried a punctured tyre for final 500 metres which occurred as a result of the pace easing.
ALL SETTLED DOWN - broke after 100 metres and lost its chance.
JEAN SEBASTIEN - broke with 350 metres to run.
MY AMOUR - broke at the start.
CRADDOCK - displayed poor barrier manners. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record. Broke shortly after the start and lost its chance. The connections reported it was their intention to race CRADDOCK from mobiles in the immediate future.
TWELVE MONKEYS - trotted roughly turning for home.
LITTLE MO - broke prior to the first bend. 5th placing briefly withheld until it was confirmed that the gelding had not galloped in excess of 150 metres.
MONKEY'S WAY - broke with 500 metres to run.
 
Race 10 PEEK EXHIBITION MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
C'EST L'HEURE - raced roughly prior to the start and in consequence was back one length at the start. A warning was placed on the entire's barrier record.
DIAMOND SUPREME - over-raced middle stages.
TROPOSPHERE - weakened from the 600 metres. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing performance.
AMMISADUQA - out of position at the candy pole. Driver S Ottley issued with a warning. Hampered in early stages. Stewards questioned S Ottley regarding the run of her gelding and the tactics she adopted throughout. Miss Ottley explained that the first starter had warmed up and raced greenly throughout, often becoming unbalanced in its gait. Miss Ottley added that she felt the horse had been over-awed by racing under lights and from behind the mobile for the first occasion. Stewards will speak with trainer M Jones in the coming days.
PRECIOUS SARA - broke early stages. Warning placed on barrier record.
MIDNIGHT COWBOY - raced roughly and broke in the score up. Warning placed on barrier record.
