Race 5 - FAREWELL HUDSON SULLY JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
Trainer S McRae has advised Stewards that following its disappointing performance at Forbury last week, blood tests were taken from FRANCO TRISTAN which have shown an irregularity with that now being treated. Mr McRae added that the gelding would be returning to trials before resuming.

Stable representative J Anderson has informed Stewards that following its performance at Rangiora on Sunday, BIONIC MAN has been thoroughly checked by the stable's veterinary surgeon with no abnormalities detected, with the gelding's programme continuing as planned.

KASH VALLEY - broke in the score up losing its chance.
NOVEMBER GUY - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
FAMILY NIGHT - broke on the first bend. Broke again passing the 350 metres.
LINDSAY CASTLETON - lay inwards throughout. Trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
 
Race 2 RNP HOMES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
LIVING GLORY - paced roughly in the score up and was back at the start. Warning placed on barrier record. Over-raced middle stages. Inspected by veterinarian subsequent to race and treated for hopple chafe.
DAYLIGHT ROBBERY - paced roughly in the score up and was back at the start. Over-raced middle stages.
THE PUBLISHER - held up final bend and early stages of the run home.
 
Race 3 CHRISTIAN CULLEN MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MCCLINCHIE - was reluctant to come out of the pre-race formation and was back at the start. Warning placed on barrier record.
IMOLA - placed in restricted room and had to be steadied near the 1500 metres when awkwardly positioned to the inside of GOING GOING GONE which was shifting ground.
FLORETA - raced wide and without cover throughout.
MILLIES CREEK - was held up in the early stages of the run home.
KOTARE KASAI - had some difficulty maintaining clear racing room throughout the run home.
PASS THE SPEIGHTS - weakened near the 300 metres. When questioned regarding the performance, driver S Ottley could offer no explanation. Post race veterinary examination showed slow recovery rate and the early signs of a respiratory infection.
 
Race 4 GARDEN CITY FLORIST MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
OONA - when questioned regarding the mares performance trainer/driver G Smith advised that his runner was feeling the effects of recent racing and that it was his intention to send her for a spell.
BRADS KENNY - trotted roughly throughout the run home and could not be placed under any pressure. Driver M Williamson advised the gelding had been uncomfortable in its action. A subsequent veterinary examination showed the gelding to have a slow recovery rate. Stewards will follow up with the connections in the coming days.
SUNNY BILL - had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the home straight.
 
Race 5 HYNDS PIPE SYSTEMS HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
FRANCO TARIQ - broke at the start.
EXTREME GUEST - broke at the start. Driver C Smith cautioned for shifting ground outwards near the 1500 metres.
MIGHTY FLYING DEAL - broke at the start.
CLOBBER - broke at the start. Raced roughly on the bend near the 1000 metres and lost ground.
GO FELLA GO - was slow to begin.
WAIHEMO ART - raced wide in the early stages until it was taken forward to race parked near the 2100 metres.
FLYIN HEATHER - driver J Harrington advised his seat had broken leaving the final turn and for this reason he had driven the final straight with his foot free of the sulky footrest. This gear was inspected and found to be in good order.
MR HANDLEMAN - weakened over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination showed no apparent abnormalities. The connections advised that the gelding would now be returned to its Southland base for a freshen up.
 
Race 6 GARRY THOMPSON - PURNELL CREIGHTON HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
HERE WE GO AGAIN - refused to go at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the mares barrier record.
EARTHBOUND - broke at the start.
STUNIN DUDE - struck by the barrier in the early stages but was unaffected.
 
Race 7 BRENT SMITH 50TH BIRTHDAY HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
AMARETTO SUN - broke at the 2400 metres.
PHIL'S GIFT - broke racing into the first bend and lost ground. Raced keenly middle stages. Held up early and middle stages of the run home. Driver R May did not activate the removable deafeners. Driver R May was questioned regarding his decision to not improve his position on the final bend when trailing DOCTOR BONES. Mr May explained he had been reluctant to shift to a position five wide on the final bend due to the amount of ground he had lost in the early stages and felt that his best chance was to shift inwards and save ground. Mr May added that previously PHIL'S GIFT had hung inwards when racing wide which is a factor he was conscious of when making his decision. After considering his explanation Stewards took the matter no further.
KING DENNY - when spoken to regarding the geldings performance driver J Cox could only advise he was disappointed with its efforts. A post race veterinary examination showed the gelding to be lame in the right hind flexor tendon and was consequently stood down until a clearance could be provided. Trainer A Hoffman advised she would have KING DENNY re-examined tomorrow and undertook to notify Stewards of the result.
PRESTINE - driver K Butt spoken to regarding the use of her whip in the run home.
 
Race 8 SWEET LOU AT WOODLANDS STUD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
DANSE MACABRE - raced wide in the early stages.
EASY RIDER - had to be steadied near the 900 metres due to an easing of the pace. Held up throughout the final straight. Driver M Anderson did not activate the sliding blinds or removable deafeners.
SANS LE SOU - had to be steadied near the 900 metres due to an easing of the pace.
CROFT BAY - held up throughout the run home.
ATCHOO - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
 
Race 9 AVON CITY FORD MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MISSINMEMATE - held up in early and middle stages of run home.
FLYIN OE - paced awkwardly on the final bend.
JAY JAYZ BOY - driver S McNally warned regarding the use of his whip throughout the run home. When questioned regarding the improved performance could offer no explanation other than the gelding had trialled well in preparation.

SHARK ALI - broke at the start losing all chance. Warning placed on barrier record.
MISSMATCH - broke at the start.
PORT DELIGHT - broke at the start losing all chance. Warning placed on barrier record.
TIN ROOF BLUES - broke at the start.
MEGA WATT - broke at the start.
PRECIOUS SARA - raced roughly and broke passing the 700 metres and again over the final stages.
I'M A DREAMER - hung inwards throughout the run home.
BETTOR LUCK - when spoken to regarding the seemingly improved performance of BETTOR LUCK trainer D Pearce explained the gelding had benefited from a slight change of his training routine and in his opinion was well suited to the conditions of this evenings race.
