Race 1 - GRANITE BENCHTOP COMPANY SOUTH ISLAND TROT
Driver K McCormick admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that she used her whip in an excessive manner over the concluding stages while driving SHAY SCOTT. After hearing submissions on penalty Ms McCormick was issued a fine of $300.00 by the J.C.A.

Race 1 ASHLEY MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
SHAY SCOTT and GIRLS NITE OUT were both back from the unruly position at the start.
GIRLS NITE OUT broke after being shifted wider on the track by JEDDY R YA READY near the 1000 metres.
MOY tired from the 600 metres.
NOVEMBER GUY was held up briefly on the home turn.
Driver K Butt advised that she did not activate the removable deafeners on CRADDOCK due to having the field covered.
 
Race 2 KAIAPOI PACE Video  Video 
The sulky was replaced on PORT DELIGHT due to sustaining a flat tyre in the preliminary. The boring pole was then removed from PORT DELIGHT prior to the start.
The field was turned away to reassemble after several runners displayed poor barrier manners.
The start was further delayed due to the tie down strap on MEGA WATT having to be replaced.
NELLIE FRANCO continued to display poor barrier manners and broke at the start. This mare was placed on the unruly for future standing start events.
TIN ROOF BLUES and BIONIC MAN broke as the start was effected.
CLOBBER broke prior to the first bend losing ground.
With 1300 metres to run BG'S LINDA, MAGICAL MATTY and NELLIE FRANCO all over-raced due to an easing of the pace with the near side tyre on the sulky of MAGICAL MATTY being struck and deflating.
J NINE and BENJI MARA were both held up for clear racing room on the home turn.
Leaving the bend at the 300 metres the near side disc on the sulky of DELIGHTFUL DANI was struck and shattered after BENJI MARA had shifted outwards.
DELIGHTFUL DANI received a slight check passing the 200 metres after BENJI MARA (C DeFilippi) which had been hanging inwards shifted outwards abruptly. Driver C DeFilippi was shown the films and spoken to advisedly.
C Thornley as the driver of PORT DELIGHT advised that he was not afforded the opportunity to activate the removable gear on the filly.
 
Race 3 RANGIORA HRC CHRISTMAS AT THE RACES 18 DECEMBER MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
TIANA'S MILLIE was obliged to race wide through the early stages.
THE PUBLISHER and DAYLIGHT ROBBERY over-raced through the middle stages.
SOX commenced to weaken with 600 metres to run with LLOYDIN MAGIC held up in consequence.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of PADDINGTON CENTRAL driver S Golding advised that the strong wind had taken its toll on his gelding after it had attempted to lead throughout.
 
Race 4 RANGIORA HRC STEWARDS & MEMBERS HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
REAL SOUTH underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after sustaining some swelling to a leg overnight and was cleared to race.
ALL NUTS N BOLTS and REAL SOUTH tangled briefly at the start and were slow through the early stages.
FEEL REAL broke briefly at the start.
GABBY'S STAR and DANNY DEL VITO broke in the early stages.
SHARDS ASSASSIN weakened on the home turn finishing a distant last. This gelding underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.
ALL NUTS N BOLTS was held up with 250 metres to run by the tiring SHARDS ASSASSIN.
When questioned with regard to the improved performance of GABBY'S STAR trainer/driver R Holmes explained that he suspected the mare may have suffered from muscle tie up following its most recent run on the 30th of June and after a slight freshen up had worked well in preparation for today's race.
Subsequent to this event the track was upgraded to fast.
 
Race 5 NORTH CANTERBURY HONDA MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BETTY GOLIGHTLY hung inwards and paced roughly when being restrained racing into the first bend.
CANNDEW over-raced through the middle stages and raced fiercely from the 1100 metres, choking down and falling to the track near the 1000 metres dislodging driver P Davis. BETTY GOLIGHTLY and SUPERIOR DESIRE were inconvenienced in this incident. Driver P Davis was checked by St John personnel and cleared of any injury. A post-race veterinary examination of CANNDEW revealed no injury. The connections of CANNDEW were advised that a veterinary clearance is to be provided and the gelding must complete one satisfactory trial prior to resuming.
Driver S Golding (BOBBY T) reported he dropped his whip in the early stages of the race.
Driver D Reardon (NORTHVIEW MAJOR) was advised to change his whip action.
 
Race 6 PLOUGH HOTEL FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
The start of this race was delayed due to the sulky of GOING TO CALIFORNIA having to be replaced.
GOING TO CALIFORNIA broke in the score up and lost a considerable amount of ground and as a result was out of position at dispatch. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of the mare.
FLYIN HEATHER was inclined to hang inwards during the running and struck pylons on the home turn.
Driver S Golding (MAJOR OVERDRIVE) dropped his foot from the sulky rest with 600 metres to run when activating gear.
 
Race 7 JOAN BELCHER LEGACY SPEED SERIES FILLIES & MARES MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
ROCKNPOP broke as the start was effected losing a considerable amount of ground.
IZINTHEZONE broke nearing the 1000 metres losing its chance with ROCKNPOP being inconvenienced.
BOBBINS commenced to weaken with 400 metres to run with the trailing CHIVASION being held up. Driver M Williamson advised the mare had over-raced throughout.
 
Race 8 RANGIORA HRC NEXT MEETING 14 AUGUST 2016 MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MELANIE OHARA and NICKY'S LOGIC were slightly out of position at dispatch.
Passing the 1100 metres NICKY'S LOGIC hung outwards inconveniencing MELANIE OHARA for a short distance.
Passing the 700 metres REAL DASH stumbled and broke dislodging driver T Quate. As a result of this incident drivers K Butt (MELANIE OHARA) and A Lethaby (DESIRABLE STYX) were also dislodged from their respective sulkies. NICKY'S LOGIC was also badly checked and was pulled up.
Drivers T Quate, A Lethaby and K Butt were checked by St John personnel with driver T Quate transferred to Christchurch Hospital with a suspected leg injury. Drivers A Lethaby and K Butt were cleared of injury. Driver T Quate will be required to supply a medical clearance. REAL DASH, MELANIE OHARA and DESIRABLE STYX were examined by the veterinarian and sustained no injuries.
The connections of REAL DASH were advised the gelding must complete one satisfactory trial prior to resuming.
IMOLA was held up for clear room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
DREAMY DAMIEN was held up for clear racing room over the concluding stages.
