During Race 4 the fire alarms in the main stand were activated resulting in the building being evacuated. As a consequence the race programme was put back one race with the last race being run at 10.57 pm.

Race 1 ONEHUNGA WORKINGMEN'S CLUB HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
There was a three minute delay to the start of this race as HIGHLAND STAR required the services of the blacksmith after losing a shoe in its preliminary and track attendants were required to remove a stray dog from the track.
PRINCESS MACKENDON reared as the tapes were released and as a result was slow to begin.
PRECIOUS MOMENT broke approximately 100 metres after the start losing considerable ground.
DAUNTLESS broke near the 1750 metres and trailed the field.
LOKI BROGDEN broke approaching the 400 metres losing all chance. While in a strong gallop LOKI BROGDEN (M. Johnson) shifted up the track toward PRECIOUS MOMENT with Junior Driver R. Argue fending LOKI BROGDEN away with his hand in an attempt to prevent it contacting his sulky, passing the 300 metres.
ACOUGARZSUN broke near the 300 metres and failed to settle.

HUDY HAXWELL reared at the start losing ground.
PRINCE OF POPS broke at the start settling quickly.
SPEAK UP paced roughly in the early stages before breaking near the 2100 metres settling quickly.
SPEAK UP lay in passing the 1400 metres and dislodged a marker peg.
SCANRECO BAY was held up over the early stages of the run home.

I GOT RHYTHM broke at the start and was slow away.
GIN broke approaching the first bend before settling at the rear.
TEMPORALE broke when in the lead entering the first bend losing three lengths after galloping for 50 metres.
YOUNG STRANGER, which was racing one out without cover down the back straight for the last time, shifted up the track when weakening resulting in MOMENT OF TRUTH taking evasive action and as a result contacting the sulky wheel of YOUNG STRANGER, trotting roughly for several strides. YOUNG STRANGER compounded quickly inside the 400 metres locking sulky wheels with TORBJORN and GIN with the latter two losing all chance. YOUNG STRANGER and TORBJORN were pulled up.
 
Race 4 OMAH GROUP LIMITED MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ULTIMATE ANGEL broke for several strides before settling passing the 150 metres.
MACHINEGUNS N GEMS was held up throughout the final straight.
 
Race 5 HENDERSON R.S.A. MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CHERRY BAY over raced when being restrained shortly after the start.
BIG MACH raced three wide from inside the 1300 metres, this gelding paced roughly when being shifted four wide inside the 300 metres.
CHERRY BAY was removed from the unruly for mobile starts.
 
Race 6 WEYMOUTH COSMOPOLITAN & SPORTS CLUB INC. MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
BEVAN'S CULLEN broke passing the 500 metres checking trailing runners BONNIE'S KHALEESI and JO'S DREAM, which took evasive action, and also while in a gallop locked wheels with FULL SPEED AHEAD which was impeded. The gelding was declared ineligible for 14 days. Trainer R. Dunn advised he would be making corrective gear changes and trialling the horse before it resumes.

MAJESTIC ALI was slow away.
SUNSET PEAK broke at the start. Approaching the first bend, while still in a gallop, this mare caused interference to CHARLEMAGNE and DJOKOVIC with both of these horses being forced into a gallop. SUNSET PEAK trailed the field throughout. A warning was placed on SUNSET PEAK's racing manners record.
LITTLE BRO broke entering the first bend, settling at the rear of the field.
MAJESTIC ALI and DJOKOVIC were held up racing round the final bend.
SIR GEORGE GREY trotted roughly passing the 200 metres.
A post-race veterinary examination revealed that SIR GEORGE GREY was lame in the near hind which required treatment.
 
Race 8 BAYS CLUB GRASS TRACK GRADUATE SERIES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
No claims were lodged for SHANTAHLIA KNIGHT.
A false start was declared early in the score up after the arm of the mobile start vehicle clipped a stationary vehicle parked on the outside of the track.
BARABBAS, which had raced outside the leader over the early and middle stages, gave ground quickly passing the 1200 metres and was retired from the event. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed against this gelding's racing performance.
DARJEELING BROMAC tended to over race near the 1100 metres when being restrained to take a trail on EMERSON MARGARET which improved to lead.
 
Race 9 PAPATOETOE COSMOPOLITAN CLUB TROT Video  Video 
I'M A SPECIAL was slow to begin and broke rounding the first bend losing considerable ground.
HALLEY'S LAST was slow to begin and trailed the field throughout.
I'M A SPECIAL broke near the 200 metres.
CHEVRONS SWEETHEART broke inside the final 50 metres and failed to settle.
The authorisation of the payment of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards confirmed that CHEVRONS SWEETHEART had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when galloping over the final stages.
