QUEST FOR FAME raced wide without cover throughout with the gelding hanging inwards and proving difficult for Driver J Dunn rounding the bends. QUEST FOR FAME was then retired from the event near the 700 metres. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stable representative J Dunn advised that QUEST FOR FAME would no longer be persevered with as a racing proposition from their stable.

Simultaneous to this S Walkinshaw attempted to improve his position outwards which had contributed to the tightening, with the trailing PLAY ACTION being hampered in consequence. Stewards deemed that both runners had contributed to this incident however, notwithstanding this S Walkinshaw was spoken to regarding the manner that he attempted to shift ground and advised to display greater care in future.
