Race 1 - HYDROFLOW - BISHOPDALE & BUSH INN TABS MOBILE PACE
At a JCA hearing held today, Amateur driver S Murtha defended a breach of Rule 868(2) in that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure that NUI TOC TIEN was given full opportunity to win the race or to obtain the best possible position and/or finishing place. After viewing the replays and hearing from Stewards and Mr Murtha, the JCA reserved their decision.

Co-Trainer T Chmiel had advised Stewards that blood tests taken from JUDY JETSON following the filly's disappointing run at Marlborough last week have revealed that she was suffering from a virus which is now being treated.

Race 1 CAVELL LEITCH BANKING TEAM TROT Video  Video 
FIRA SUNSET broke and stepped outwards at the start causing SPURRED BY SUCCESS to became unbalanced and break a short time afterwards.
MOY and TAIMATE RAFFA broke after 100 metres.
Trainer A Stuart reported that TAIMATE RAFFA would be sent for a spell.
DEVA JONES broke after 150 metres.
FATAL REUNION broke near the 1650 metres.
HEAVENLY LOVE broke passing the 1500 metres.
MOY was held up on the final bend by the weakening BRITE N LOVELY.
BRYLIN ROSE trotted roughly in the home straight.
The 4th placing of DEVA JONES was briefly withheld until such time that it could be confirmed the filly had not breached the Breaking Horse Regulations.
Driver P Borcoskie advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners on DEVA JONES due to the cord breaking.
Driver I Schwamm (MOY) was spoken to and reminded to ensure he drives his horses out fully to the end of the race when in contention for a stake or dividend.
 
Race 2 CAVELL LEITCH BUSINESS TEAM FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
GREEN FINGERS and ROCKING were back at the start with respective drivers C DeFilippi and M Edmonds warned to make a better effort in future.
ASHES OF TEARS raced wide in the early stages.
TAHLIA FRANCO raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 1000 metres.
SMOOTH FIRE raced keenly passing the 1300 metres when being restrained.
Near the 1000 metres ASHES OF TEARS got its head up and raced greenly when being restrained to surrender the parked position to the improving TAHLIA FRANCO.
STUNNING DEAL raced wide and intractably throughout. The connections advised that the mare had been striking the sulky wheels throughout.
FLYINGRETNA which had raced fiercely in the middle stages gave ground passing the 600 metres and fell after choking down. Driver G O'Reilly was uninjured. A post-race veterinary inspection showed the filly to have sustained an abrasion over the right eye lid and a haematoma on the right stifle with FLYINGRETNA receiving treatment from the on course veterinarian. The connections were advised FLYINGRETNA had been stood down pending the completion of one satisfactory trial and receipt of a clearing veterinary certificate.
HANNAH EXTREME raced keenly on the final bend and became held up behind the weakening DALNESS MAC.
TAHLIA FRANCO hung inwards and raced roughly leaving the 400 metres. TAHLIA FRANCO hung inwards over the concluding stages simultaneously to RAPID FLIGHT hanging outwards which caused SHEZZA GNP to momentarily be tightened.
ASHES OF TEARS was held up for clear racing room late in the run home.
When questioned in relation to the performance of DALNESS MAC Co-trainer G Hope advised he had been disappointed with the efforts of his filly over the final stages and it was his intention to conduct blood tests during the week. A post-race veterinary examination showed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with G & N Hope in the coming days.
 
Race 3 CAVELL LEITCH EMPLOYMENT TEAM MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Trainer B McLellan was issued with a $200 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting LUCIANO onto the track with two minutes until start time.
SMOLDERING ASHES paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start.
LUCIANO shifted outwards in the early stages dictating FREEDOM FIGHTER wider on the track with that runner having to be steadied for several strides.
DONEGAL CARRICKFIN broke shortly after the start when being taken forwards inconveniencing FREEDOM FIGHTER and TIME TRAVELLER. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
Near the 1500 metres SMOLDERING ASHES raced roughly with the gelding losing some ground in consequence. This horse again raced roughly on several occasions throughout the running. Driver J Curtin reported that the gelding had been striking his sulky wheels throughout.
TIME TRAVELLER over-raced in the middle stages when positioned to the outside of the leader.
REGAL GRIN was held up for clear racing room leaving the final bend.
Near the 100 metres THE PUBLISHER shifted inwards abruptly when having the deafeners activated.

LIGHTWORKOFIT was back from the unruly position at the start.
KERRYN KYLIE and LOVE STRUCK ROMEO were back slightly at the start.
GEE GEES INVASION broke after 150 metres inconveniencing WE'LL MEET AGAIN and was retired from the race.
LOVE STRUCK ROMEO raced wide in the early stages.
JEAN SEBASTIEN trotted roughly rounding the final bend.
LOVE STRUCK ROMEO broke near the 300 metres with the trailing WE'LL MEET AGAIN and LIGHTWORKOFIT being hampered.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of HE'S LIKE THE WIND trainer/driver G Smith reported he had been disappointed with the gelding's efforts and it was his intention now to spell the horse.
J Markham as the driver of JEAN SEBASTIEN was spoken to regarding his use of the whip over the final stages.
Trainer G Smith has advised Stewards that HE'S LIKE THE WIND was suffering from muscle tie up following its disappointing run on Thursday with Mr Smith confirming that the gelding will be sent for a spell.
 
Race 5 CAVELL LEITCH IMMIGRATION TEAM FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ASHES TO WINGS became awkwardly positioned near the sulky of KOTARE KASAI racing into the first bend and in consequence became unbalanced and broke.
GOING TO CALIFORNIA broke near the 1100 metres after striking the sulky wheel of SANS LE SOU. Junior Horseman D Keast was questioned regarding this and subsequently issued with a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging that at this time he had driven carelessly. Mr Keast admitted the breach and after considering submissions on penalty the JCA imposed a fine of $250.
SMOKE N FIRE over-raced in the middle stages.
GLENISTHEBETTOR broke near the 500 metres.
HOPEFUL HARRIET was held up for clear racing room in the early stages of the run home.
Stewards spoke with S Ottley (SMOKE N FIRE) and R May (GLENFERRIE CLASSIC) regarding the manner in which they had driven on the first bend when GLENFERRIE CLASSIC was able to shift outwards and take up a position away from the pylons. After considering the explanation of both drivers Stewards were satisfied that GLENFERRIE CLASSIC was entitled to and had forced SMOKE N FIRE outwards leaving SMOKE N FIRE in a three wide position for a short distance and accordingly no further action was taken.
 
Race 6 CAVELL LEITCH LITIGATION TEAM PACE Video  Video 
SUPERFECTA swung sideways as the start was effected losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier record.
MARTIN JOHN reared at the start and broke.
WHOOSH FACTOR also broke at the start resulting in FLASHING ON being hampered and losing considerable ground.
JUST BEN shifted inwards at the start and locked wheels with the galloping OK I'M BAD causing L Lester to become dislodged. Despite the efforts of Miss Lester to contain her runner JUST BEN escaped her grip and fell to the track near the 2400 metres. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed some minor abrasions with the gelding receiving treatment from the on course veterinarian. The connections were advised that JUST BEN was stood down pending one satisfactory trial and the receipt of a veterinary certificate. Driver L Lester was examined by St Johns and found to be free of injury.
OK I'M BAD over-raced in the middle stages.
BEST DEFENCE gave ground from the 600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame after striking the right fore heel during the running. Trainer T O'Sullivan advised it was his intention to re-consider the gelding's racing future.
FRANCO NATE weakened passing the 500 metres inconveniencing DROVER'S EYRE who became held up and then raced keenly. When questioned with regard to the run of FRANCO NATE driver I Lee advised the gelding had been unsuited to working in the early stages and that the stable would be making alterations to the gelding's training regime.
Driver B Williamson reported that on occasions during the running FLASHING ON had struck the wheel discs.
 
Race 7 CAVELL LEITCH PROPERTY TEAM MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
CROFT BAY over-raced in the early stages.
Racing into the bend near the 1600 metres FLYIN HEATHER had to be restrained when crowded for racing room between CROFT BAY which had been eased inwards by G I JOE and track markers. After reviewing the incident Stewards were satisfied that no driver was at fault.
Near the 1300 metres WAIHEMO ART paced awkwardly for a short distance.
Stewards reviewed the films of the race near the 1200 metres when BLACK REGAL PRINCESS was shifted outwards with INNOCENT ARTIST being taken to a three wide position however after doing so were satisfied that the shift of BLACK REGAL PRINCESS had commenced prior to INNOCENT ARTIST reaching its sulky wheel.
 
Race 8 CAVELL LEITCH RELATIONSHIPS TEAM HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
There was a delay to this race starting when AMARETTO SUN had to be attended to by the barrier attendants with a warning placed on the gelding's barrier record.
PHIL'S GIFT and GEE UP NEDDY broke after 100 metres.
TWELVE MONKEYS broke near the 1300 metres hampering ARRAN CHIEF.
NATIVES LASTING LOVE was held up rounding the final bend by the tiring SUNSPOT.
ARRAN CHIEF broke near the 150 metres.
 
Race 9 CAVELL LEITCH RESOURCE MANAGEMENT TEAM MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
ONEDIN'S DELIGHT raced wide in the early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field.
GABBY'S STAR gave ground from the 400 metres with the trailing ARTICULIGHT and HES FAST AND FURIOUS being held up.
R May as the driver of COURAGE TO LIVE reported that due to the cord becoming entangled the colt's deafeners had not been activated.
 
Race 10 CAVELL LEITCH TRUSTS TEAM PACE Video  Video 
LAVROS VANCE and TRIXIE BROMAC broke at the start while BALLYMORE BOY began awkwardly.
RETURNTOROCKNROLL made the bend awkwardly leaving the 1000 metres causing it to lose several lengths. Stewards spoke with driver J Dunn regarding the filly's performance to which he explained he had again been disappointed with her efforts which he now attributed to her being unsuited to Addington Raceway. Mr Dunn added it was his intention to race at other venues.
BUFFY BAY broke near the 250 metres.
FRANCO HAMILTON and LOLITA FRANCO had difficulty obtaining clear running throughout the run home.
 
Race 11 3YO TROTTING C & G AUSTRALASIAN BREEDERS CROWN HEAT Video  Video 
BLOOD AND WHISKY and MY AMOUR both had difficulty maintaining their position behind the mobile approaching the start.
MY AMOUR over-raced in the early stages and was taken forwards near the the 1200 metres to lead.
BLOOD AND WHISKY broke racing towards the 1000 metres.

OONA was back from the unruly position at the start.
OONA broke approaching the 400 metres.
