YANKYOLA struggled to maintain contact with the body of the field from the 700 metres. Trainer/Driver B McLellan reported he would not be persevering with the gelding from his stable.
BEAUDIENE GAMBLER hung inwards and paced roughly rounding the final bend and in the home straight.

Stewards questioned Driver N Williamson regarding the tactics he adopted near the 800 metres when electing to shift his horse FERN FEVER to a position four-back on the marker line. Mr Williamson explained that the mare had been hanging inwards throughout and rather than trail ELI LOWE which in his opinion had worked hard in the middle stages to obtain the parked position, he was better suited to shift inwards and save ground rather than having to improve wide rounding the final bend. Stewards noted Mr Williamson's explanation.

Race 3 PRYDE'S EASIFEED TROT Video  Video
WINNERS SHOUT broke racing into the first bend checking SCOTTIE TROUBLE and KING KONE with SCOTTIE TROUBLE breaking.

CHEEKY PAT was briefly placed in restricted room approaching the 1000 metres when racing to the inside of SCOTTIE TROUBLE. Driver S Walkinshaw (SCOTTIE TROUBLE) was spoken to advisedly.
Stewards questioned Driver P Williamson regarding the tactics he adopted during the race when electing not to improve ROYAL KENNY to the parked position when an opportunity existed near the 2000 metres. Mr Williamson explained that the mare had peaked on its run when first-up over 2200 metres last week and felt that it was in the horse's best interests to remain on the marker line at that stage. Mr Williamson added that he was hampered when briefly checked by SCOTTIE TROUBLE near the 1100 metres. He further added that the mare had proved disappointing after racing wide from the 500 metres. Stewards requested a post-race Veterinary examination of ROYAL KENNY which revealed no abnormalities. After considering Mr Williamson's explanation, Stewards were satisfied that his tactics were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.

ARTHUR LOWE (K Larsen) broke briefly when attempting to improve its position to the inside of PEMBROOK HARRY (D Dunn) near the 300 metres with the trailing PLAY ACTION, HONEY SMITH and PASS THE SPEIGHTS also being checked. After speaking with Drivers Larsen and Dunn, it was established that ARTHUR LOWE had improved into a run to the outside of BETTER GO HURRY simultaneously as PEMBROOK HARRY hung inwards. Stewards were unable to apportion blame to either driver and accordingly took the matter no further.
PEMBROOK HARRY hung inwards on the final bend and in the home straight.
LIVE TO TELL was held up for clear racing room late in the run home.
When spoken to regarding the performance of GOING GOING GONE, Co-Trainer/Driver T Chmiel could offer no explanation other than he had been slightly disappointed with the mare's effort.
