Race 1 TERRY DIXON MEMORIAL TROT Video  Video 
EYRE'S A RAG DOLL was declared a late scratching at 9:50am on veterinary advice.
MATAI JETSTAR trotted roughly through the early stages and when negotiating the bend near the 2300 metres hung inwards striking several track markers. MATAI JETSTAR then continued to trot roughly for the remainder of the event.
MAJESTIC PEAK over-raced through the middle stages.
MAJESTIC PEAK trotted roughly and broke near the 300 metres losing its chance.
MATAI JETSTAR broke near the 150 metres losing its chance.
 
Race 2 ANCHORAGE CAFE MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MONLEA MAISY paced roughly through the early stages and near the 1750 metres hung inwards and paced roughly when being restrained.
TUAS DELIGHT over-raced through the middles stages.
TUAS DELIGHT had difficulty obtaining clear racing room through the early stages of the run home until near the 100 metres.
MONLEA MAISY was held up through the early and middles stages of the run home.
PORSCHE CANARDLY hung inwards near the 250 metres and had to be straightened. Driver H Hunter reported he was unable to activate the removable deafeners on PORSCHE CANARDLY due to the gelding pacing roughly.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of THUNDA DOWN UNDA driver N Williamson explained the gelding had raced too keen once obtaining the lead near the 1600 metres and given this he was not overly disappointed with the effort. Mr Williamson further added that in his opinion THUNDA DOWN UNDA would derive benefit from the outing.
 
Race 3 AWARUA SYNERGY MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
HUNTERS COLLECT broke during the latter stages of the score up and when being restrained by driver R McIlwrick, shifted outwards checking KEZZA'S LASS with both runners losing their chances in the event. Whilst in a break the hopple connecting strap broke on HUNTERS COLLECT with this item of gear being inspected by the Stewards and found to be in satisfactory condition. A warning was placed against the mobile barrier record of HUNTERS COLLECT.
NEWMANS JET had to be restrained near the 1800 metres when becoming awkwardly placed behind JUSTAN'S SISTER as there was an easing of the pace on the marker line.
FULL HERBS over raced through the middle stages.
NEWMANS JET lay inwards when placed under pressure on the final bend, contacting several track markers.
Driver S Lock (NEWMANS JET) briefly dropped his foot from the sulky footrest near the 300 metres.
VERA MAC was inclined to hang inwards when placed under pressure in the run home.
No claims were lodged for any runners in this event.
 
Race 4 KB & ASSOCIATES ACCOUNTANTS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
MATAI LEXIE hung outwards during the score up resulting in the mare being a length out of position at the dispatch.
PAY MASTER raced wide through the early stages prior to being taken forward to obtain the parked position near the 1600 metres.
LE STAR improved wide from the 500 metres and near the 400 metres paced roughly for a short distance.
RNR WINDERMERE had difficulty obtaining clear racing room rounding the final bend and through the early stages of the run home.
T C BUSINESS was held up throughout the run home and went to the line without being tested. Driver J Cox reported that due to being held up he was not afforded the opportunity to activate the removable deafeners on the gelding.
 
Race 5 HYDE LANDSCAPING MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
A false start was declared when TRENDY'S BAD GIRL broke in the score up impeding the trailing ROBYN KIM. Junior driver B Williamson elected to retain his allotted position for the restart. A warning was placed on the mobile barrier record of TRENDY'S BAD GIRL.
IVY MAY DELIGHT raced wide in the early stages prior to being taken forward to obtain the parked position near the 1600 metres.
IVY MAY DELIGHT paced roughly for a short distance near the 1250 metres.
JUST WISH was forced wide near the 700 metres and was then inclined to hang inwards rounding the final bend when placed under pressure. When questioned regarding the performance of JUST WISH driver D Dunn advised the mare had raced wide in the middle stages and this effort had taken its toll over the concluding stages. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination of JUST WISH which revealed no obvious abnormalities.
IVY MAY DELIGHT commenced to weaken near the 600 metres inconveniencing the trailing CARRIE MISS MACH which was then held up for a distance.
JUST WISH lost its off-fore plate during the running.
 
Race 6 SOUTHERN OCEAN SAFETY PACE Video  Video 
NORTHVIEW BETTA and VAN EVA broke at the start with the trailing MARTIN MCGUINNESS being inconvenienced.
JETSDREAM tangled briefly as the start was effected with the gelding being further hampered by NORTHVIEW BETTA which shifted inwards whilst in a break.
SHINEY PRINCESS was slow through the early stages then lost contact with the body of field near the 1000 metres and was not persevered with thereafter. Stewards requested a post-race veterinary examination of SHINEY PRINCESS which revealed the mare to have an elevated heart rate and a slow recovery. Trainer S Lock advised SHINEY PRINCESS would no longer be persevered with as a racing proposition from his stable. SHINEY PRINCESS was however stood down from racing until it trials to the satisfaction of the Stewards on one occasion.
JETENARA over raced through the middle stages.
HONEY SMITH over raced for a distance near the 1600 metres when positioned outside the leader.
NORTHVIEW BETTA was taken forward near the 1300 metres to obtain the parked position near the 800 metres.
JETSDREAM raced wide without cover over the final 800 metres.
 
Race 7 GRINALDI LODGE HANDICAP TROT Video  Video 
YGRITTE, SCARLETT LANE, GRACE O'MALLEY and MOMENT OF SUN broke at the start, with both YGRITTE and SCARLETT LANE losing considerable ground.
WAY TO GO and OVERCAST broke rounding the first bend with both runners losing ground.
THE BADGER trotted roughly for a short distance rounding the first bend.
YGRITTE broke again near the 1900 metres losing its chance in the event.
SUN'S INVASION raced keenly through the middle stages when leading.
GRACE LIGHTNING (D Dunn), which was hanging, shifted outwards near the 300 metres placing THE BADGER in restricted room resulting in the gelding trotting roughly for a short distance and being taken wider on the track hampering MOMENT OF SUN causing driver G Lee to become unbalanced in the sulky. Despite the manners of his horse Stewards advised Mr Dunn that in future he was to exercise more care when shifting ground.
GRACE O'MALLEY hung inwards rounding the final bend and near the 300 metres broke, losing its chance.
GOLDEN GATE broke near the 200 metres.
 
Race 8 SOUTH PORT NZ LTD BLUFF CUP MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
VERA'S DELIGHT was back off the gate at the dispatch.
KIWI FOCUS raced wide in the early stages before being taken forward to obtain the parked position near the 1100 metres.
HARRY MAC raced wide over the final 900 metres.
Near the 500 metres ROXY DALE shifted inwards when improving its position and made contact with the sulky wheel of VERA'S DELIGHT which punctured in consequence. Following the running of this event B McLellan the driver of VERA'S DELIGHT lodged a Protest pursuant to Rule 869(A)(2) against second placing being awarded to ROXY DALE (A Armour) alleging that runner interfered with the chances of VERA'S DELIGHT finishing in the best possible position. After viewing the films and hearing evidence from the drivers involved the JCA dismissed the Protest. After speaking with Driver A Armour, Stewards adjourned the matter to give his drive further consideration.
FLEETING GRIN commenced to tire near the 400 metres inconveniencing the trailing VERA'S DELIGHT which became held up for a short distance.
 
Race 9 NORTHERN SOUTHLAND TROTTING CLUB MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Racing into the first bend HOKURI RAILRIDA shifted inwards to take up a position nearer to the pylons however in doing so applied pressure to JACCKA SPIRIT who was dictated inwards causing LEANDER LILY to strike track markers. S Walkinshaw as the driver of HOKURI RAILRIDA will be spoken to in the coming days regarding this.
THEMAILMAN hung outwards rounding the first bend.
MELINA LOWE raced wide in the early stages until near the 1400 metres.
TWO PLY hung inwards over the final 600 metres and near the 400 struck several track markers.
MIGHTY FLYING DEAL (D Dunn) hung inwards rounding the final bend and when being corrected near the 200 metres shifted outwards, with the trailing JACCKA SPIRIT (B Barclay) improving to that runners inside and striking several track markers. Authorisation of dividends were withheld until the Stewards were satisfied that JACCKA SPIRIT had not gained an advantage at this stage of the race. Driver B Barclay reported that despite his efforts he was unable to shift wider on the track.
JUST SAY GO was held up throughout the run home and went to the line without being tested.
UNDERSTUDY hung outwards when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 10 SOUTHERN INSULATION MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
FRANCO TYSON over-raced through the early stages placing driver D Dunn in difficulty when unable to restrain the gelding. FRANCO TYSON then continued to over-race for the remainder of the event.
MR HANDLEMAN raced wide in the early stages until near the 1500 metres.
BOLD RULER hung inwards rounding the bend near the 1400 metres striking several track markers.
FLASHING ON paced roughly for a distance near the 1250 metres.
ISOLA BELLA commenced to over-race near the 1200 metres when pressured by FRANCO TYSON which raced to its outside.
TACTICAL VC attempted to improve its position inwards near the 1100 metres applying considerable pressure to MAGNETIC WATCH. Driver B Rae was cautioned for the manner in which she drove at this stage of the event.
FRANCO TYSON commenced to weaken rapidly inside the final 500 metres inconveniencing the trailing I TRY which had to be steadied. Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination of FRANCO TYSON which revealed no obvious abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing manners record of FRANCO TYSON.
FLASHING ON had difficulty obtaining clear racing room for a distance near the 200 metres.
