Trainer J Stormont advised Stewards that MUM'S PRIDE, a starter in Race 6, would not be driven with aggression over the early stages of its race. The gelding was a recent winner at the workouts but is resuming after a spell with its last start being 24 December 2015. |

BOPPER JET broke badly, veering to the inside of the track at the start, losing considerable ground and its chance. Trainer R. Brosnan was issued a final warning regarding the racing manners of BOPPER JET. | |
GOTTA MOMENT broke for several strides when in the lead approaching the 1600 metres and settled quickly to trail in behind MAC THE MONEYMAKER, while in a gallop GOTTA MOMENT inconvenienced IDEAL DASH which was forced to shift wider on the track and improve forward. A warning was placed on the racing manners record of GOTTA MOMENT. | |
CUT IT IN HALF shifted wider on the track approaching the 800 metres and was pulled up. A post-race examination revealed this horse had suffered an atrial fibrillation. A veterinary certificate of fitness and a clear ECG is required before this horse resumes. | |

MUM'S PRIDE (favourite), from its 40 metre handicap, settled third last early, improved to race four back one out, improved from inside the 400 metres and raced four and five wide rounding the home bend and ran on to finish 10th, beaten 8.5 lengths. | |

SHANTAHLIA KNIGHT, after leading early weakened inside the 500 metres impeding EVERLASTING GRACE. Driver J. Abernethy was questioned in regard to the tactics he adopted on SHANTAHLIA KNIGHT. Mr Abernethy drove the gelding hard under the whip from mobile barrier position seven and crossed EVERLASTING GRACE to reach the lead 400 metres after the start. The lead in sectional for this race was a quick 41.1 seconds. The next half was run in a slow 66.5 seconds with the last half being run in 57.0 seconds. The overall time for the race was run in a moderate 2:44.75. Mr Abernethy stated that SHANTAHLIA KNIGHT was a C3 horse racing against C1 and C2 horses and therefore the tightest assessed horse in the race and had been driven in a similar fashion with success previously. He expressed his disappointment in the horse's performance. His explanation was noted. | |
