General
Drivers M Hallett (Race 1), J McDermott (Races 1 and 3), S Blake (Races 1 and 3), G Cook (Race 3) and W Low (Race 3) were permitted to drive horses other than those they own or train due to these races being for invited drivers and having their drivers drawn by ballot. Selected drivers were subjected to breath testing for the purpose of alcohol analysis. Selected drivers were required to provide samples of urine for the screening of prohibited substances. Junior Horseman K Riddell was stood down from his driving engagement in Race 2 today after providing a non negative sample to a prohibited substance. See summary for replacement driver. Horseman B Butt advised Stewards that he was unwell and unable to attend the meeting. See summary for replacement driver. The track was downgraded to slushy after Race 7. Mudguards and wet weather dust sheets were directed to be used after Race 8.

Race 1 TAVERN HAREWOOD NZADA CHAMPS (HEAT 3) MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
NORTHVIEW MAJOR was out of position at dispatch despite the efforts of driver G Cronin.
FRANCO EXETER hung inwards when progressing to the lead with 1400 metres to run.
AVEROSS BRACHOLE was obliged to race three wide without cover from the 1200 metres with this gelding giving ground from the 400 metres.
SICILIAN SECRET hung inwards on the home turn when driver S Blake attempted to angle the mare into the clear.
ANIKA LINDENNY was held up for clear racing room through the early stages of the run home. Driver M Hallett advised the hood had failed to activate due to the cord becoming entangled.
 
Race 2 RACING AT RANGIORA MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
SHAY SCOTT and GEOFFREY P broke in the score up losing considerable ground with GEOFFREY P being retired from the event.
CRADDOCK and BOURBON AND DRY were both out of position at the start.
RUSTY I AM hung inwards when progressing to the lead on the first bend.
BOURBON AND DRY broke with 1150 metres to run.
SQUIRE JOHN ran outwards when placed under pressure with 700 metres to run with this gelding then weakening out to finish some distance from the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had pulled up in a distressed state with trainer N McGrath advising he would no longer be persevering with SQUIRE JOHN from his stable.
ROSETTA STONE broke with 600 metres to run.
RUSTY I AM commenced to weaken on the home turn with MR PRESTON held up in consequence. RUSTY I AM then struck pylons on the home turn and broke with 200 metres to run. P Wakelin as the co-trainer/driver of RUSTY I AM advised that the gelding will be turned out for a spell.
 
Race 3 BISHOPDALE / BUSH INN TABS NZADA CHAMPS (HEAT 4) MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
FRANCO CALIPH (S Wigg) made contact with the outside sulky wheel of CIMARRON (T Thorby) when improving outwards nearing the 1100 metres with this resulting in the sulky tyre deflating and the tube wrapping around the sulky stay with CIMARRON being retired from the event. In consequence to this Miss Wigg admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b in that she drove carelessly at this stage of the race with the JCA imposing a fine of $300.
EARTHBOUND was inclined to lay inwards when improving three wide rounding the final bend.
MAJOR PATRON and SPECIAL DELIGHT tired from the 400 metres. Post-race veterinary examinations revealed no apparent abnormalities for either runner.

CHAMPAGNE REIGN was a late scratching at 11.50am after being injured en route to the course. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to resuming.
EXTREME GUEST broke as the start was effected running out and inconveniencing FARM FIRE.
KYLIE ANN and PERUVIAN LIGHTNING broke at the start.
DIAMOND SUPREME broke in the early stages and failed to settle with this gelding being retired from the event. A warning was placed on the standing start record of DIAMOND SUPREME.
DANIEL THOMAS tired from the 500 metres inconveniencing LORD JASE THE MACE.
Driver R Payne advised the removable deafeners on GLENSTONE were not activated due to the cord breaking. This gear was inspected and found to be in good condition.
 
Race 5 MATT BLAIR MOTORS MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
Trainer N McGrath was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after NICOL SHARD was presented with removable deafeners which had not been notified.
NICOL SHARD broke in the score up losing a considerable amount of ground. A warning was placed on the colt's mobile barrier record.
RICCARDO was trapped wide in the early stages until reaching the parked position with 1300 metres to run.
RICCARDO was inclined to hang inwards entering the home straight and throughout the run home.
 
Race 6 CLARRIE WILLIAMS MEMORIAL FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE Video  Video 
FEEL REAL (S Ottley) and MILLWOOD CHARITY (P Davis) were out of position at dispatch with their respective drivers cautioned to maintain their barrier position until the start point in future,
MOSCONI broke nearing the 900 metres after over-racing due to an easing of the pace in the one-out line with this causing an inconvenience to MILLWOOD CHARITY.
DELIA MAY tired rounding the final bend and struck pylons with DONEGAL BETTOR MUSIC being inconvenienced.
MILLWOOD CHARLIE was inclined to hang inwards in the home straight.
 
Race 7 PETER SMITH HANDICAP PACE Video  Video 
ASTRO BOY broke as the start was effected, failing to settle and losing its chance.
CANNDEW and BANK RAIDER broke over the early stages losing ground.
THE SMOOCHA hung inwards with 600 metres to run.
GRADUATE UNDER FIRE raced greenly when angling into the clear with 600 metres to run.
B Orange as the driver of EASY RIDER dropped his foot from the sulky rest when activating gear with 500 metres to run.
 
Race 8 JOAN BELCHER LEGACY SPEED SERIES MOBILE TROT Video  Video 
GALLEONS ROYALE underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after the stablemate was injured en route to the course and was cleared to start.
ALVIRA HEST was out of position at dispatch and as a result will be drawn on the unruly for future mobile starts.
VENETO broke when negotiating the first bend. Co-trainer/driver J Kennett advised that the mare will not be persevered with as a trotter in the immediate future.
GALLEONS ROYALE hung rounding the first bend.
LISA MARIE P was held up for clear racing room throughout the run home.
PETITE ROYAL trotted roughly over the concluding stages.

JUST BEN had a warning placed on its standing start barrier record after it broke at the start and failed to settle losing its chance in the event.
THISGIRLISONFIRE broke briefly at the start.
CLAUS raced keenly in the parked position throughout.
CLARENDON'S LAST raced keenly rounding the final bend.
DONEGAL RUNDLESCREEK was held up for clear racing room through the early and middle stages of the run home.
